I love oats. mmmm. But sometimes I want to change it up a bit, how bad is brown sugar vs. maple syrup (pure) vs mollases? I assume they are all pretty bad as far as their GI's?
Brown sugar is white sugar flavored with molasses. Molasses is a thick dark liquid produced during the refining of white sugar. Maple syrup is made from boiled maple sap. I know that maple syrup is 93% sucrose. I'm sure all of the GI's are comparable...

If your not afraid of sugar alcohols theres sugar free syrup. In a 1/4cup it has 30cals (12g carbs, 11g sugar alcohols) but all it takes to flavor a cup of oats is a little squirt, which is like 1/10 of those nutrition facts, so it's practically negligable.
DaVinci syrups from netrition have 0 calories, no sugar alcohols.
