Well, I did a little calculation on Fitday.

It seems my intake for today, including the last meal that I'm about to go eat, ended up around 3100 cals.

The ratios ended up at 49% pro, 8% carbs, and 43% fat.

Dear god. I did a keto without even realizing it.

You may need to lower cals a BIT more depending on how much is coming from protein to hit keto, but yeah...! :D Keto rocks.

Rack Press: 135x5, 205x3, 225x3, 255x2, 265x1
-Close-grip, bottom-up. My rotators hate me even more.

HS Incline: 90x6, 135x6 (2)

Db Flyes: 30x8, 60x8 (2)

Db Skulls: 35x8, 45x8 (2)

-11 minutes of treadmill sprinting (most of this was warmup/cooldown; only did two sprints @ 9mph for about 45 seconds. It was enough.)

Weighed 191.

galileo

Speed DL: 225x2 (S, C, S), 275x2 (C, S), 315x1 (C, S)

Cleans: 135x5, 185x3, 205x2 Interval Sets: 155x3 (6)

Shrugs: 315x6, 405x6

-15 minutes on the bike (3 sprint-bursts over a 5 minute period)

Weighed 190. Definitely noticed a rise in body temp and breathing after the interval cleans.

Pulldowns: 200x6, 250x5, 260x5

Tbar Row: 90x7, 135x6, 180x5
-Underhand

HS Row: 135x7, 180x6, 205x5
-Just as a note on form-- I do these HS machines with straps, and unilaterally (one side at a time for you heathens).

Conc. Curls: 45x7, x6
-Left side needed assist on 2-3 reps

-10 minutes on the stair machine, 4 total sprints.

Weighed 190. I'm liking having my aerobic capacity back. I have mor energy, and I'm starting to develop my psychotic tolerance/desire for physical abuse again.

PowerManDL

Schizotypal disorder

A pervasive pattern of social and interpersonal deficits marked by acute discomfort with, and reduced capacity for, close relationships as well as by cognitive or perceptual distortions and eccentricities of behavior, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

ideas of reference (excluding delusions of reference)
odd beliefs or magical thinking that influences behavior and is inconsistent with subcultural norms (e.g., superstitiousness, belief in clairvoyance, telepathy, or "sixth sense"; in children and adolescents, bizarre fantasies or preoccupations)
unusual perceptual experiences, including bodily illusions
odd thinking and speech (e.g., vague, circumstantial, metaphorical, overelaborate, or stereotyped)
suspiciousness or paranoid ideation
inappropriate or constricted affect
behavior or appearance that is odd, eccentric, or peculiar
lack of close friends or confidants other than first-degree relatives
excessive social anxiety that does not diminish with familiarity and tends to be associated with paranoid fears rather than negative judgments about self

I own 6-7 of those, and to be honest they all apply to some degree. Explains a lot, really.

Bottom-up GM's: 135x5, 205x3, 225x3, 275x2, 315x1, 335x1
-Used a full ROM this time.....these jokers are rough.

Conventional Rack Pulls: 315x3, 405x2, 455x1, 475x1
-From just below the knee.

I had to ditch the interval leg presses-- I did one set, then my right knee started acting a donkey. Not gonna risk it.

Decline Crunches: x10, 25x7, x6

Reverse Hypers: 90x8, 200x8

-20 min on the bike, light interval stuff

Weighed 191.....but...I'm visibly leaner now, and I'm easing back into the 34" pants :D Not a lot I know, but its only the beginning of the second week.

You know, I've been thinking lately....

slipping through the ocean? that goes in all directions;

there are orbits, currents, things moving here which way?

Why are all things bright not glowing? because the dim is a sign of

burnt cinders spinning through this void......a thousand explosions, each hurling words in a trillion directions.

The lack of focus is prime and most assuredly the problem. Its a matter of making things fall into place.

OH Press: 95x6, 115x5, 135x3, Bottom-Up: 145x1, 155x1

BP: 135x8, 205x4, 225x4, x3
-heavy speed sets; stopped when the bar slowed down.

HS OH: 45x8, 90x6

Db Flyes: 40x8, 65x8

Db Skulls: 35x6, 50x6

-10 minutes on the treadmill, two ~45 second sprints @ 10mph

Weighed 189.

PowerManDL
04-17-2003, 09:00 PM
Speed DL: 225x2 (3, alternating styles), 275x2 (2), 315x2 (2)

Power Cleans: 135x5, 185x3, 205x2, 225x2*
*Counting these, though I technically didn't rack them due to lack of proper elbow snap.

Shrugs: 225x10, 315x8, 405x6, 425x5*
*Used a fair bit of calf/leg here, but they were still solid reps.

-8 minutes on the treadmill; 3 sprints @ ~45s w/ 1 minute rests, 2 minutes rest, 1 sprint @ ~45 seconds

Weighed 191. :D

Chongtastic.

Anyways, I couldn't do any pullups because a couple of dildos flocked to my pullup stand to do leg raises. For 45 minutes. So I left them out.

Pulldowns: 200x6, 230x5, 260x5, 240x7

Tbar Rows: 90x6, 135x5, 190x5
-These are chest-supported, for anyone wondering. Done with underhand grip.

HS Row: 135x6, 180x5, 215x5, 225x5
-Unilateral, with straps. Went crazy with these today; 5 plates/side was nice.

BB Curls: 95x5, 105x5 (2)
-Did these on a bench press just to be an ass. The second set with 105 was fit for a proper curl jockey, with plenty of back swing.

Rear Delts: 80x8, 100x8 (2)
-Done on the pec-dec.

-15 minutes on the bike, moderate intensity.

Weighed 190 on the nose.

Notes: I hate all the dildos that come to the gym and get in the way.

Man, I hate it most when I'm sitting there waiting for..say...leg press, and the person using it is some little girl with a 35lb plate on each side doing 1/4 reps for some 20 reps per set. 85 sets.
Even if I DID ask to work in, it would take way too long to put my seven plates on the bar, do my set, take my seven plates off, put her one plate back on...etc.

Dumbass bitches.

Budiak

Aint nothing wrong with back swing. Politician curls kick ass. So long as every set isnt done that way...like the bitches do.

Or when you do cable rows (because they'd never dare to bent over rows) they lean all the way forward, and with as little actual arm/back movement as possible, push out with their legs and swing their backs to a 170 degree angle(that would be an 'obtuse' angle, if I do remember correctly from high school.)
Oh yeah. Feel the burn.

****in...gat- damn bitches.

PowerManDL
04-19-2003, 02:09 AM
Yeah, that ****. That's how all the homos do their pulldowns too......so I can add about 50 lbs to any weight I do on a pulldown in order to compare.

I hate it when the homos purposely rig it so you can't work in with them.

Damn homos.

Most **** indeed.

I'm broke.....more broke than Chigs at a gay porn convention.

Anyways, decent session today despite total lack of focus, though it did get cut a bit short:

High Box Squats: 135x8, 225x5, 275x3, 315x2, 375x1, 395x1
-Oww.

OL Squats: 225x2, 275x1
-Nice, all the way to the ground. Oww.

SLDL: 315x5, 425x5
-Oww.

Decline Crunches: x10, 25x6, x7, x6

Should have done some reverse hypers and a bit of cardio, but I didn't. I wasn't tired, but there was no psychological desire to.

Oh also, I bought some cheap-ass ALA today ($5 at Wal-Mart), so I'm gonna start playing with that.

Naughtiness of all types is welcomed by P-Dilly.

Good workout tonight:

Rack Press: 4": 225x3, 275x3, 315x1, 365x1
Midpoint: 225x3, 275x1
CG Midpoint: 225x5 (2)

Side Laterals: 25x6, 30x6 (2)
-Hung off the side of a rack, one delt at a time.

Db Flyes: 40x8, 70x6

Db Extension: 30x6, 45x8 (2)

Weighed 190. Two and a half weeks of cutting and I've lost two pounds. And that was all in the first week.

Uh sure...right after they throw my ass out of the AF.

PowerManDL
04-24-2003, 08:39 PM
You.....you damn rebel you.

I almost didn't workout tonight. I've been having some respiratory issues today, and a 300 yard sprint in the rain today after class clinched the issue; so I'm laying off the cardio a bit. CG indirectly talked me into lifting, though, and I'm glad. I feel better now.

Speed DL: 225x2 (2), 275x2 (2), 315x2 (2)
-Alternating styles, overhand grip

Hang Snatch + OHSq: bar x1+3, 95x1+3

Hang Clean: 135x3, 185x2, 205x2 (pull only)

Shrugs: 315x6, 405x4, 435x5
-cheating on the heaviest set now; gonna brute-force this shrug plateau.

Weight was down to 187; I'm not cheering though, because its very likely just water loss from the ECA I've been taking since Monday. So we'll see.

Cardio's probably out till at least Monday, due to the afore-mentioned respiratory distress.

xraygirl
04-24-2003, 09:42 PM
What kind of respiratory distress? The cold, flu, allergy or asthma kind?

PowerManDL
04-24-2003, 09:45 PM
Well.....my car was parked a good 300 yards from where the building opens up to the outside.....so I took off into a full sprint, up a hill mind you, over most of that distance.

When I got to my car and slowed down, I was breathing hard; harder than I should have been from that little sprint, and I was really light-headed. So I sat there for a minute, till I got my sight back, and took off for home. But I had a....light congestion?....in my bronchial area. Not a pain, but definitely a difficulty there, and now as I sit here, it feels like there's something accruing there.

So we shall see.......

Damn, Power. I had that same thing happen to me when I was in high school and was still really really fat.

All we had to do was take 4 laps around the track. Yes, the dreaded 'mile run'. It was raining lightly on that balmy spring morn, and as a fat lumpkin, I didnt enjoy it much. I think I got like...11 minutes. My best mile ever, in high school, was like..9:50 or something, and then it was downhill from there and I dont know how I even got that time in the first place.

It wasn't a 300 yard dash or anything but man when you're 14, stepping over 200lbs at 5'3", over 30% bodyfat, things get pretty rough.

Its probably nothing. ****, I thought I had pneumonia when I was done with that ****ing mile.

Yes. Teh immortal is m3!!!!1

Workout? Oh yes.

BB Row: 135x8, 205x5, 225x3, 245x3, 275x3
-I figured, if everybody else can cheat, so can I. So I did.

Pullups: me x10, +45x5, +90x3 (assist) + 5 shrug-ups

Db Row: 145x5, 165x5, 175x3
-Form's improved a bit at the same weight since I last did these.

HS Row: 135x6, 180x5, 235x4
-Five plates and a ten. Running out of room.

BB Politician Curls: 95x3, 105x3, 115x3

Hammer Curls: 60x5

Weighed 186

Bronchial congestion is still hanging back just ever so slightly off stage; but it doesn't feel like a tiger waiting to pounce any more.

Let's see.....two more finals and I'm done till May 9. Yay.

Also, ephedrine is good for you. It makes you buzz like a bee hive. Its fun.

What I done did today:

Low GM's: (bottom up) 135x6, 225x3, 275x1, 315x1, 345x1
-Just barely got the 345.

Rack DL: (conv.) 315x2, 405x2, 455x1, 485xMiss
-485 budged, then it just kinda stopped moving.

Snatch: Power: bar x3+3 OHSq, 95x3, 115x3, 135x3 Pull: 135x3, 155x2
-Anyone want to try cardio, try a few sets of these bastards. I had a 160 bpm heart rate and was sweating bullets after these sets.

Reverse Hypers: 180x6, 230x6 (2) 250x8, 230x8

Weighed between 187 and 188 today. Not too pleased with the top-end strength today, but its kinda on hold for the moment anyway, so I'll restrain my unfathomable anger and rabid impatience for the time being.

PowerManDL
04-29-2003, 01:24 PM
OH Press: 95x6, 115x4, 135x3, 155x1, 165x1 (jerk)

CG BP: 135x6, 205x3, 225x6, 245x3

Db OH: 50x8, 70x4.5
-Still have a hell of a time getting these set up properly; probably won't progress much until I can get some reliable way of getting them to my shoulders.

Db Skulls: 30x8, 50x6 (2)

Db Laterals: 20x6, 35x5 (2)

EZ Skulls: 75x8, 95x6 (2)
-I like these so much better than the barbell version; they don't kill my wrists or elbows. The weight listed is on the assumption that the bar is 25 lbs, which to my best recollection, it is. I might need to re-weigh it next week to make sure though.

Weighed 187ish. No cardio due to extreme ECA buzz.

WillKuenzel
04-29-2003, 01:30 PM
I like to weigh every weight and bar before I use it. Well not really but you never know. I've seen some stranger stuff.

How are you getting the db's up to your shoulders to do the presses? I get them on my knees and kick them up like I'm going to do incline or something. You don't get them up quite as high but its the best I've come up with. I don't trust others to hand them to me and its almost more weight than I would care to try and hang clean with a db. If you find out a better way, please post it.

PowerManDL
04-29-2003, 01:34 PM
What I'm doing now is hang-cleaning them, then sitting down. Its really awkward, and saps my energy for the set.

I've tried the kicking-up method, but I just can't seem to get the leverage. And as I completely hate using a spotter for anything, that's out also.

This calls for brainstorming.

Budiak
04-29-2003, 01:37 PM
Holy ****, a regular plate loading EZ bar is 25lbs?? No way.

I have one at home and I think its supposed to only be like 10lbs, but its probably not the same quality.

Damn, I may be stronger than I thought. I'm not betting on it though.

Put them on the floor and clean them, shouldn't have any problems getting em up that way, if you can hang clean 70lb dumbells...

I'm curious since you train intelligently... what are your goals?

PowerManDL
04-29-2003, 01:39 PM
Maybe not, B-Money......this is a pretty damn big EZ bar compared to most I've seen, so I think it weighs a bit more.

Right now, I'm on a really half-assed cut.....so I'm working to build up some lean tissue and really, really focus on strength.

I'm throwing a little old school flava and some of those hoppin' phat jams in da mix at the moment; some OL, some PL, and some good old fashioned bodybuilding.

WillKuenzel
04-29-2003, 01:42 PM
Spotters absolutely suck. That's why I do more db work than anything. I just pick the db's up off the floor, set them on my knees and sit down. I kind of slide forward on the seat a little to get a little lean back (this helps). From there I knee them up to my shoulders and hold them there while I get re-situated and then start pressing. Its tough getting that first rep out because my shoulders are in a kind of bad position but once the first rep is out the rest are golden.

From there just drop them and pick your feet up. The bang from that height really gets on the managers nerves. Not that I've tried that on purpose. Again, that comes from having a bad spotter.

PowerManDL
04-29-2003, 01:44 PM
Yeah.....cleaning them up gives me about the same effect. The first rep is *damn* ****ty but the rest are good.

It sucks because I'm about getting to a point where the weight is going to exceed my ability to power clean it.

WillKuenzel
04-29-2003, 01:49 PM
All the olympic curl bars we have are 25lbs. I thought that was pretty much the standard, like the straight bars being 45lbs.

I like db pressing but unless I can figure something else out I guess I'll have to go back to behind the neck presses. We at least have a rack for those.

Budiak
04-29-2003, 02:04 PM
95lbs huh?

Well I imagine you've got a lot of growing to do until you are unable to clean your skull weight. I imagine that a guy of your strength could clean quite a bit, I think you'll be fine until you start hitting around 140lbs or so on the skulls.

At that point you can go to Mexico and buy some people to spot you. Just pay them to not bother you and back away when you're working. And to shower.

PowerManDL
04-29-2003, 02:21 PM
My best clean to date is 225; so if you want to break that down, it'd be 112.5 lb db's.

However, that's a max attempt that I'd likely not get; my best would probably be about 100 lbers. That, and managing to get them set up and squeeze out the first rep probably isn't happening.

Relentless
04-29-2003, 02:27 PM
I think it's all about the technique. I do arnold presses with 70-75lbs and I use the kick-up method. But it's not so much a kickup as a controlled-fast-lift-up with one knee at a time.

Maybe doing Arnolds would help ya Majt?

Same problem, first rep is hard, but then you're in the groove. I couldn't clean the 70's for a while, and I wanted to increase weight on inclines. I can clean them now, but can't do a rep lol, maybe next workout ill be able to.

Eh none of this!

Do it like the old timers did it for decades, clean the dumbells to your shoulders and get at it. You maybe not be able to do quite as much as you could do before, a rep less maybe, but you can still get a good set.

If you just wana be a pussy :D :p find something about shoulder height and put the bells on it one at a time, and 'roll' them onto your shoulders. Push press the first rep if its still fooked up, then lower and do regular reps.

Ok, I remembered what I was going to say.

My back workouts. They rock. Completely. While I was unloading the many plates on the Hammer Strength row, I had an epiphany of sorts.

I'm sitting here fretting about a little pudge on my gut (I know I haven't been publicly, but I have been), when I'm in better shape than 99% of the people on the planet; my back strength totally /pwns guys that are 50 lbs heavier than me or even more.

I am about strength; so what if I don't look like a model. I enjoy the rush of being able to move weight that makes people wide-eyed and slack-jawed in sheer awe.

That dumbell row I did tonight was a scant three pounds short of my body weight. Three ****ing pounds. The 250 lb beast next to me training the teeny blond was staring a hole in me from the corner of his eye when I did that set. He never asked me how much weight I was using, which didn't matter because that dumbell just LOOKED heavy. Never said, "damn man, that's some nice weight you're using." No, not so much as a hint of recognition, except for that stare-- the stare that says "I've just had my ego completely fractured into ten trillion pieces by this small guy."

THAT is what I enjoy doing. And I will crave every moment of my ego-destroying ascent towards strength-training apotheosis.

*eats pie*

*shoots a liberal*

The End.

Yup.....my gym's dumbells only go up to 150. That's barely a warmup now.....but fortunately its got a plate-loading handle.

I weighed it, and it was around 15 lbs.....so I've got 3 25's and a 10 on each side.

The low box squats are a factor I haven't been considering in my posterior chain training over the past few months, and that's probably one reason those lifts have been suffering.....my hips and hammies are hurting like silly right now.

Quit reading this and get to drinking, fiz-00ls!

Its where you lay back on a decline bench or a hyper bench, hold your arms straight up, and rotate your torso side to side.

Absolute killer for the abs.

I don't see how your abs (i.e., rectus abdominis) would be involved other than maybe isometrically. Am I missing somethign? Or do you mean the obliques when you say 'abs'?

PowerManDL
05-06-2003, 05:28 PM
I include the obliques, yes. And it is isometric for the rectus abdominus......but its still effective for it.

Speed BP: 135x10, 185x5 (5)

Speed Pullups: Me x10, Me x5 (5)

EZ Skulls: 75x10 (3)

EZ Curls: 75x10 (2)

Weighed 185  That's my cutoff weight, so its time to gorge a bit.

For those wondering.....yes, I've adopted yet another periodization-based split. And no, I don't feel like typing it out; you'll just have to watch and see unless I really like you and feel like telling you on MSN.

Did a little fiddlin' with the deadlift form and workout.

DL: 135x8, 225x6, 315x3, 355x5, 365x5 (2)
-Really focusing on the form of the pull here; definitely a big difference in the quality of the reps. The 2nd set with 365 degenerated a little due to fatigue, but feeling nice and strong overall.

Power Cleans: 135x3, 155x3, 185x3 (2)

Shrugs: 315x6 (hook grip), 405x5, 475x5, 495x5, 225x20 (speed)
-Based on some good advice, I've decided to alter these a bit. Instead of worrying about the full ROM, I'm instead doing these for pure overload. As long as there's any trap movement, it counts. I'm also no longer using any calf assistance.

Speed Hyperextensions: x10, 25x20 (2)
-Again another new exercise-- regular hyperextensions done for high reps, focusing on speed of the movement rather than weight.

Weight was 187-188.

Big thanks to Linda for helping me throw this one together last night; I think with a combination of the new periodization scheme, the form tweaks, and the assistance moves, I've got a shot at bringing this puppy up some.

Funny Things I Saw Today:
-There was a session of the Dumb Bitch Olympics going on throughout the gym, orchestrated by one of the gym's Backstreet Boy-brand trainers. It was almost entertaining. If you like dumb bitches. Which I don't.

I feel the urge to destroy something, then create with its bloody, burnt, shattered remnants.

I like seeing skinny guys using so little weight on pushdowns that they are able to push down in such a manner as to cause the 3 plates to literally fly upwards independant of the resistance cable.

It kinda sounds like....

fffwoooo whaSSSSSSSSS KAdunk UNF!!

And it repeats about 38 times because you know, you get big and strong by doing almost no weight at no fewer than 25 reps.

Today:

OH Press: 95x5, 115x5, 125x5, 130x5 (2)

CG BP: 135x8, 205x5, 225x5

-Done in the bench press just for spite.

Matt, I guess while you're there, you might as well show them how to deadlift.

PowerManDL
05-10-2003, 02:35 AM
Well, the beauty part is that we have a "muscular strength and endurance" test on one of the "lab" days of class.

The exercises for this include such obvious movements as pulldowns, leg extensions AND curls, ab crunches, bicep curls and (lo and behold) teh mighty Bench Press.

The machine moves I /pwn on any day of the week. I'm also attempting to schedule it so a bench press peak happens on the given day so I can hit like a 295 or so, seeing as there's no *real* lift being given any precedence.

Update:

My clutch is fried.

Last night's drunken tomfoolery resulted when I saw a friend I haven't been talking to for the past year or so and we got quite shi-ttay. We've got a few new traffic cones now, including one of those big barrel bastards they put out on the interstate.

But back to teh clutch. I can't shift gears. You ever tried to drive a stick shift without a working clutch? Yeah, the gears don't like that ****, not a bit.

So I get to drive a cool-ass rental car this week while Teh Ni55an gets worked on.

Also, I'm still broke. Broke enough that my last-ditch plan to climb a clocktower with a sniper rifle can't happen. Because I can't afford the ammo. I need my loan money soon.

The End.

RG570
05-11-2003, 06:23 PM
That sounds like my kind of tomfoolery. Sorry to hear about your clutch, mines out too. Do you know how it happened? Or did you just learn this morning that it happened?

PowerManDL
05-11-2003, 06:29 PM
It was weird. I had no signs at all till last night when I left work.....I couldn't get it in gear, so I checked my clutch fluid and it was really low. I figured that was the problem so I walked over to the grocery store next door and bought some fluid; once I filled it up, it worked just fine all last night.

On the way in to work this morning, it worked fine till I was almost there, then it started getting harder to shift and finally just stopped. I pulled over and checked the fluid levels, but it was totally full.....except it was really dark and had tiny chunks of crud in it.

I jerked it back into second gear and managed to get it to work, but I never was able to get it to shift again.

PowerManDL

I only wish I had a ride as sweet as teh Haetmobile. It does, however, have a web page devoted to it now. You can find it here (http://www.dpo.uab.edu/~powerman/AChaetmobile.htm).

Today's session (was did at the school gym, which really sucks):

BB Row: 135x10, 185x5, 215x5, 225x5 (2)

BP: 135x10, 185x5, 195x5, 205x5 (2)

Db Skulls: 40x10 (3)

Db Curls: 40x8 (2)

Weight was about 185.5 on the school's gym, which is similar to the one I normally use.

I really hate my school's weight room, because there's two bench presses and only one power rack. Both benches were occupied and the power rack was being used as a curl station when I arrived, so I had to stand around with my scary eyes for a good 10 minutes before any of the equipment I needed freed up.

Oh, and I was flaming the instructor in my "health and fitness" class today. I was nice enough to do it quietly so that only those surrounding me could hear it, since she's only a grad student and is obviously very nervous while lecturing; I might be developing a compassionate streak or some **** like that.

Still no car. Still broke. Teh suck.
