Well, I'm finally going to keep a consistent journal. I made one other attempt, but I got busy with contest prep and neglected it. So this journal should atleast take me up through the end of march. Basically, I'm working my way towards 240 pounds by the end of January. Bodyfat I'm not concerned about, because it's yet to become an issue. It'll actually be kind of cool if I get fat, to see how people treat me and such, since I've always been a skinny bastard.

Currently I'm 193 pounds. I'm not sure as to my bodyfat, I believe I'm under 9% at the moment. Also, I'm looking to gain approximately 2.5 pounds per week. My diet will basically consist of plenty of shakes (protein/weightgainer,) potatoes/yams, brown rice, steak, and more steak for me, and the occaisional fruit. Most likely, I won't be keep track of my diet in here, it will strictly be training. Hopefully all will go well.

Glad your keeping a journal again.....it will be interesting following your growth. IMO, I think you need to gain that weight over a longer period of time, but who am I to tell you what to do LOL. Be careful not to get those ugly stretch marks that folks get when they gain quickly like that. Good luck Chase.

No offense big guy but if you want to be 240 at a decent bf it's gonna take more than 5 months. That equates to 9.4 pounds per month and 2.3 pounds per week. I believe.

Not to take away from your goal because you do have a great building block from which you can work with. I'll be very envious to say the least if you do accomplish your goal.
All the best and I'll make sureto keep up with your journal.

Bent over BB rows
135x12, 225x8, 235x8, 250x6, 225x8, 225x8

Close grip Pulldowns
200x8, then drop set of: 250x5, 200x5, 150x5, 100x5

Conventional Deadlift
225x3, 315x1, 435x5 (Done with chalk and...a belt  )

Shrugs on Flex Dorsi Flexor Machine
330x12, 330x12

Hammerstrength Shrug
3 plates a sidex15 reps for 2 sets.

Overall a decent workout, I'm still taking it easy on the deadlifts until my BF gets a little higher.

Well, like i said, bf is not an issue. I'll let it go until about 25 percent. And I do plan on doing 2.5 pounds per week. Generally 10 pounds a month, up until the end of January.

You can be a fatty like me!

Maki, he said he didn't care about his bf%. If so, he can do it if he really wants to. I will tell you this Chasey, eating in the way it will take to gain that much weight will be creating a bad habit which will stay with you if you are not careful. You should take some before pics, and then chronicle your gain it weight with pics.

Rows are overhand, my grip is about 2 inches into the rough stuff. I'm bent over in a manner such as a deadlift where the bar would be slightly below my knees and I pull it up them to my waist.

Alex.V
08-20-2002, 08:09 PM
S'how I do em.

Chase, I'd be worried about the same thing. You can get addicted to bulking. And cutting from 25%, you might lose a sh*tload of muscle if you stay natty. A lean 220 would be more impressive than a fat 240. But hey, go for it.

Yeah! I'm lookin forward to joining the fatty club. But I do believe that's a great idea as far as the pictures go. I'll definately do that. I understand I will be creating a bad habbit, which will probably be very difficult to fall out of immediately. But I do plan on starting a very strict contest diet afterwards, which may last 6 months up until my next show which may be late June or early July. The length of my diet will be determined by how much bodyfat I have accumulated obviously.

BCC

If 6 months of hardcore dieting doesn't drive me insane, then I think I can keep muscle loss to a minimum. I want to compete in teen nationals next year badly, and I'm focused like never before.

Maybe the dude just had puffy nips. I have them and I haven't touched any steroids. I think the guy that goes by KenShamrock on here had pretty low bodyfat with the same thing.

I don't really doubt that he had taken them, but realize that I've met like 20 people so far with the same puffy nipple crap. He is an assface though.

Nice Work, and Good Luck Chase!

BCC
08-23-2002, 10:41 AM
Well, I believe that hitting my arms more often will make them grow due to the fact I neglected them for a good 8 months of training. They're probably freaking out from all the work they're seeing now.

Bennett, my parents actually don't think too much of it. I mean, my mom's 49 years old with abs and nearly 14 inch arms. Infact, when I first started lifting, my first goal was just to get bigger arms then my mom lol, now that's pathetic. Both my parents have been working out for a good 15 years each consistently, so it's nothing new to them. Plus, they went through the same thing when my brother lifted weights and he was my age.

And yes, EVERYONE accuses me of using gear. It's funny how many stories I hear about myself of who saw me shooting up, or taking these mysterious pills, or "he told me he does them," or "he's kind of moody, it's roid rage." Of course I couldn't care less what people are saying.

Oh, and galileo, I don't know why I look different in all the pictures...must be my hair. I can comb it differently and have no one recognize me, it's weird.

Flat BB Bench

Incline DB Press
85x8, 85x7

Flex Flat Bench
Drop sets; 5 plates x 5, 4 plates x 5, 3 plates x 5, 2 plates x 10

Incline flys on Nautilus freedom Trainer
165x8 dropped to 65x10

Shoulders

HS Behind the Neck Press
180x5, dropped to 90x15

Single Arm Lateral Raises on Nautilus Freedom Trainer
80x7, 65x8, 65x8

Upright BB rows
Drop set: 125x4, 105x4, 85x6, 65x6, 45x10

Triceps

Close Grip Bench
135x8, 195x6, 185x8, 135x15 30 second rests inbetween sets

Skulls
90x8, 80x8

One arm reverse grip pushdowns
60x8, 50x8

Calves

Old Icarian seated Calve Raise
200x12

Icarian Donkey Calve Raise
200x15, 300x12, 340x15, 200x12; This was also supersetted with toe raises that I did sitting upright on a flex lying leg curl.

As tired as I was, these were two decent workouts. Intensity was decent. Volume was higher than usual, but I've been feeling up to it lately. Nothing really outstanding in this workout, I'm just working with really slow contractions, and really bringing up my time under tension.

45 on each side for as many reps at one time, then rest, then as many more reps as possible, repeated 6 times, then supersetted with the HS Adductor machine. My legs were cramping at this point, and that's the end of the workout.

A great workout, I'm finally getting to some heavy back squats. I think next week I'll go back to front squats, then the week after I'm going to go for some 405 rock bottom squats. The 385 today felt excellent, it's the heaviest ATF squat I've done so far. It wasn't a max, I feel like I could have done a couple more, but I guess I figured I'd quit while I was ahead.

I don't always workout twice a day, usually only if I want to train chest, triceps, and shoulders or back and biceps on the same day. I like it better as far as I feel fresh to hit the next smaller bodypart later in the day.

I'm not sure if I'm going to train again until next week. I'm not working out tomorrow since I'm going to a george clinton concert. I'm contemplating training quads Friday, but that will depend on my knee. I hit it on a desk and bruised it inbetween my quad and knee. If I don't train friday, I won't train again until Monday, and my work schedule is very busy. So all next week my training will just go every day : Hamstrings, Calves, Hamstrings, Calves, Hamstrings, Calves..ect... I'll be training in a HIT style.

Any chance your blood pressure is just being thrown off by your weight gains? I know you aren't worrying too much about fat, so I'm curious if maybe that's playing a role. I would assume you're not using any thermogenics while you bulk either? Be careful, blood pressure and hearts are touchy things.

Great lifts today.

BCC
09-16-2002, 09:53 PM
Well...I don't think fat gain is much of an issue. I was calipered at 9.8, but I believe it was actually 9.1

Although in the 2.5 years I've been training I've gained nearly 80 pounds. And the last time I had my blood pressure checked besides recently was before I lifted weights.

BCC

As your arms have gotten bigger, you may wish to request the large cuff. You just might see your blood pressure come more into line. I know this from personal experience.

BCC
09-17-2002, 02:24 PM
Well, I had my blood pressure taken on both my bicep with a larger cuff, and with a normal one on my forearm. The results were very similar. I'm still kind of playing the waiting game on that.

Reinier- I still ate 450 grams of protein yesterday, so it's no biggie that I went really low on carbs. Just throwing an obstacle at my body, nothing that's going to hurt me.

delts looking real good keep up the good work, just curious how do you feel the upright rows work for you shoulders, do you use close or wide grip, and do you use them to work you traps or delts...?

BCC

Thanks guys.

Duce, I use the upright rows strictly for the lateral heads. I wouldn't ever to them for traps. My grip is generally about a foot apart, although at times I have gone wider or narrower.

Well maybe not but that must produce one hell of a pump.

Do you do any cardio while bulking? Do you think it would help as far as cardiovascular fitness was concerned? Between cutting and bulking you probably have a great cardio fitness level and I was thinking that extra oxygen to the muscles may help.

BCC
10-18-2002, 12:16 AM
I personally stray away from cardio. Everyone here pretty much know that about me, I'm very anti-cardio. I never do cardio, although my cardiovascular health is decent.

I suppose if you want to be good at cardio, then do some cardio. Otherwise, I see no place for it in bulking, and really no place in cutting, unless your diet just doesn't "cut" it (no pun intended.)

You know, back about a year and a half ago I was doing breathing squats 3 times per week. They were certainly one of my favorite things to do and my sets often turned into 30-50 reps. I don't them very often anymore, but I do think highly of them. It's pure hard work, and one hell of a mental game.

or do you like to just blast the **** out of each muscle group and not worry so much if you were any stronger this week?

BCC
10-22-2002, 09:18 AM
My progress is gauged in the mirror. The body doesn't know or care what stimulates it each week, so it doesn't matter to me. Plus, I'm not much of an ego lifter, so weight progression plays little part.

Feels good doesn't it???

The worst is:

a). trying to get up off the toliet seat.

b). trying to walk around and NOT look like you have a broomstick jammed up your ass.

c). inevitably realizing that CRAWLING around the house would definately be easier!

d). realizing that everyone in your household now thinks your a complete lunatic for crawling around the house.

e). contemplate the fact that you must do a, b, c & d ALL OVER AGAIN the following week!
