Time to reorder my NLarge and Optimum powders, and I have a hankering to try something new on top of them.
I'm 6'2" 200lbs. I've been at it for about a year but have seen minimal gains. I carry quite a bit of flab on my gut, but since I carry no muscle and everyone still says I'm a stick, I've been on a permanent bulk.
I've taken/am taking: protein powder, gainer powder, creatine off and on, flax oil, multivitamin and I've never noticed any difference from any of it. Any suggestions on what to try? ALA? Glutamine? Fish Oil instead of flax? What would really help is some Dbol, but I'm not taking that jump.

If you're expecting any of the above to result in a miraculous change to your physique, you'll be sorely disappointed. I would instead recommend you reevaluate the important stuff: diet and training.

It sounds like you may need to get your whole food diet in order. What is your body fat ? Do you count calories ?

Remember supplements are just that they cannot be used to make up for major deficiencies in a persons diet.

Yea bro, I've not meet a single person who can't put on mass with proper training and diet. If you post your daily caloric intake, fat, protein, carbs, we could help you more.

You may want to add fish oil or flax (I prefer flax) just for general health purposes. It is nice to look good, but also nice to live healthy.

1. I workout 3-4 days a week with splits. I've tried cardio on and off. I've done machines and free weights. Old School, WBB 1 & 2, random ones of my own.

2. On a "normal" day (more days than not) I eat:
Oatmeal w/ one scoop NLarge x 2 bowls
Whole Wheat toast with natty pb
A little skim milk
Protein shake of 60g protein from Optimum/NLarge
Turkey sub on regular bread w/ 8 or so deli slices, NO CONDIMENTS
Some plain animal crackers
Can of tuna x 3 cans
Quart of Whole Milk
Slice of Marble Cake or small bag of Nutter Butters (yeah, I cheat every day, what of it)
3 eggs, scrambled
1/2 cup or so of cottage cheese.

Some days this is a bowl of oatmeal less or so, some days I go out and have pizza or Hooters instead of turkey. I know it doesn't have red meat or chicken, but it's the best I can do, being cooking-******ed. But is this not enough calories?

3. I sleep at LEAST 8 hours a day, 10+ whenever possible.

join up at fitday.com and started counting them vs. guessing if it's enough to allow for growth.

How long have you been training that you've tried all those routines?

That might be part of the issue.

I've been training for just under a year. I did Old School for 9 weeks, and then another 5 weeks w/ an extra day I made up in there because I liked the routine. I did WBB 1 for 8 weeks, I'm in my 3rd week of WBB 2. A couple weeks back I even did a week of 50 rep sets of compound lifts before taking a week off.

The calorie thing.... I'd like to err on the plus side, I'd rather eat more than necessary than not enough. Doesn't that look sufficient?

50 rep sets...I'd say there was a problem there.

The 50 rep thing was a one week only endeavor and was suggested by an article I saw on EF.

Anyway, it's time for my reorder. I guess I'm just gonna get the powder and some flax. I was gonna get fish oil, but dps only sells it in capsules. I was brought up to believe capsules were bad. Is this the case with fish oil caps?

from what your telling us i think your diet and training is fine... maybe u should up your fat intake a little more... your probably just one of those guys who is hard to gain, a hard-gainer so to speak....

are u sure u made zero to minimal progress in the past year? your diet and excercise/sleep seems fine... interesting... are u doing any cardio? if so maybe u should cut that out too..

Well, maybe I'm just being hard on myself. My gf says I have "bigger muscles" in my arms and legs, and she claims one of her friends noticed I was getting bigger. It's just I think by now acquaintances and the general populace should notice that I probably lift, and it's not that drastic. I don't think the people I work with or my parents notice. My weight is up 30 lbs since I started, but I tell myself that's all fat. When I took progress pics for EF, you couldn't even see lines. Maybe I'll try again and post them here. I don't have "before" pics but it's easy to explain it. Also, my weight used on exercises hardly EVER moves, it's strange. Anyway, I guess I'll just order up my powder and try to change just my intensity in the gym, as I think this is my weak link.

thats makes no sense.... so basically u gained 30 lbs... not knowing if it was fat or muscle, but your strength stayed the same?? That's weird... after months of weight-training your strength should increase...

i think it's time u re-evaluate how u train and get a good training partner to help u along the way...

the reason your parents don't notice is because they see u on a regular basis so they won't notice half a lb a week or so... wait till u meet someone who u haven't seen for a while and they shouild notice the change...

Unless he's training completely wrong, like that 50 rep thing he did, hehe. Well, if you're gaining poundage in the fat area, I'd re-evaluate your training routine.
