hi...
I've noticed that on the days after the nights that I forget about protein shake before bed I wake up with a flat and good looking abs :)
however, when I do drink my shake before bed the next day I wake up with a not so flat stomach and it feels like I had a big meal at night.
Eventhough, I don't eat anything big after 6 - 7 pm.
why do you guys think this happens?
thanks

Any carbs in the drink? In any event, could be water. If the composition varies from day to day, I'd guess it is water.
Is it whey protein you are drinking before bed? If it is, I'd recommend drinking/eating some sort of casein protein before bed as you'd generally want slower digesting proteins while you sleep.

Try igesting a slower digesting protein like casein. A good source is cottage cheese and/or milk.

z warrior whats wrong with milk before sleep?
I like to use it as slow absorbing protein like tree said b4 bed and b4 workouts
.
as for SoRoUsH i recon its either carbs in the protein or just the extra water

Z warrior didn't say anything was wrong with milk before sleep. I believe, he agreed with it. Milk has casein proteins...many prefer cottage cheese because it has a lower sugar content.

But I was wondering, are you guys recommending I should still eat cottage cheese or drink my milk right before bed eventhough I'm cutting?
wouldn't the carbs in there eaily turn into fat?
thank you

yes consume cottage cheese before bed. Yes it contains carbs, albeit minimal amounts, these carbs in cottage cheese and milk are called lactose and lactose is a low GI carb or stabilizes blood sugar levels over a somewhat long period of time.

There aren't that many carbs in there. It won't kill you.

100mL of milk only has 4-5g of carbs..

MetRx Protein Plus is an excellent bed time protein. I like to mix it with 1 tbls of flax seed oil right before bed when I am cutting.

the good fats. Adding a Tbls of flax (or any other "good" fat) will slow digestion and provide you with slow burning calories for energy while you sleep. This will help to preserve your lean mass as you go 8 hours with out ingesting any calories.
