My wifes Womens Health Mags all tell her to eat tons of soy...that's enough reason for me to stay away from it.

The available research is inconclusive. There is some evidence that the phytoestrogens present in soy may actually bind to estrogen receptors preventing real estrogen from binding to them. If this is true, soy would lower estrogenic effects.

Really, though, the oral bioavailability of flavones in general is terrible, so it's not really a huge issue unless you're consuming massive quantities of the stuff.

Consuming a moderate amount of soy is not going to turn you into a woman, and actually has some health benefits.

I may be wrong, but doesn't whey come from a different source? I thought I remembered someone saying that it comes from the top of cottage cheese (the water-like liquid that settles to the top in it). Maybe that's just one of many sources. I'd think, though, that the slower-digesting animal proteins would come from...well...animals.

Do you think cottage cheese grows on trees?

Are you implying that I don't understand where cottage cheese comes from...either what it's made from or what animal(s) that it comes from?

Very informative!! Soy protein only seems to be detrimental in males when consumed in excess of 30+ grams a day. Even this information is inconclusive. As long as your not taking soy protein all day long, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about! I take a mixed protein before bed that has soy protein in it and I have yet to grow a nice set of hooters so far! :)

aprox 25 grams of soy protein raises metabolism you have to eat a ton of soy for it to do any negative effects... soy isnt a complete protein form so i wouldnt consume a lot of it any way

That article seems I dunno, biased. It just wants to play devils advocate. When I read the part of 40% of white people and black people in America, That alone spelled bias. It indicates that only black and white people make up the U.S population. When I read that, I immediately knew the "findings" were bogus.

Information IS availabe is that soy had shown to help musle growth in both men and women.
Since you guys like articles here is a good one that supports soy v.s Whey.

Soy isn't bad. Just look at those links I posted. The study done by Ohio State shows that the test subjects had better results with soy then whey. I'm not going to dump on whey since it has obvisou benefits, but people should really stop dumping on soy just cause of fear caused by these nasty rumors about man boobs and what not. The man boob crap is just a myth created by Whey users who like to dump on any protein that isn't whey then it spreads and it becomes a rumor that plays on people's fears.
You will notice that most of the people who dump on soy protein have never tried it and are afraid to give it a try.
on a side note, men who wish to be women are injected with VERY high doses of estrogen to become more fememnin and grow breasts. I'm sure if they could get the breasts they've wanted with soy they would be consuming it like there is no tomorrow, but sadly to say they pay large sums of money for the estrogen to be able to grow breasts.
The Whole Man boob rumor has been disproven by scientific research, but people still choose to believe it out of fear.
I believe that would be called ignorance.
