View Full Version : What is your favorite Cereal?

Oatmeal aside.....what is your favorite Cereal when you consider both taste and nutrition? I've seen FiberOne and All-Bran mentioned several times around here. I'd like to find a few good ones without spending $300 to sample them all....
Today I had Kellogg's LowFat Granola w/raisins Cereal. It was fantastic. Added a few more raisins and it was excellent.
Per 2/3 cup
48g carbs (17g as sugar, 3g dietary fiber)
150 mg sodium

FiberOne! FiberOne! FiberOne!
Aside from that, Kashi GoLean! Crunch is excellent, as well as Uncle Sam's.

Special K is cool...
I really don't eat that much dry cereal.
When I consider buth taste AND nutrition related to my physique goals, they all suck. If I consider just taste, I like special k and golden grahams(before they get soggy, lol). Right now I eat 1/2 cup of All Bran Extra Fiber cereal in the morning with my protein shake and apple. It's not very tasty, but it has(I think) 15+ grams of fiber per 1/2 cup. Gotta have plenty of fiber when you're on a high protein diet - your butt will thank you.

special k red berries.

CINNAMON TOAST CRUNCH!~

Kellogs Fruit N Fibre/Cheerios

My favourite cereal is the same for both taste and nutrition.
McCann's Irish Oatmeal
Steel cut, not rolled. A bit nutty in flavour and a bit chewy if you cook it just right. Yum. Lowfat, high fibre.
Oops, noticed you said oatmeal aside. Ah well. I don't generally eat 'cold cereal' because for the most part, the ones that taste good are crap for you. The ones that are good for you taste crap.

cinnomon toast crunch, honey nut cheerios, capt n crunch with crunch berries, and count chocula. what the hell happened to count chocula? I haven't seen it in stores in a looong time. Of course I haven't shopped for cereal in a looong time.

For taste : Count Chocula
For health : All bran buds - a couple tablespoons gives you a lot of soluble fibre

Alright for pure taste and enjoyment, I like , Vector, Fruit loops, any kind of granola, golden grahams,Rice krispies squares cereal, hmm I know there's more , just can't remember them :p
Now for healthy ones, I like the McCann's irish oatmeal, and I love that Kashi Go Lean cereal.
Cinamon Toast Crunch and Lucky Charms. I have a box of each in the cabinet. I get to consume them (yes both at once ! :D) when I reach my goal weight. I haven't had either in about 8 months.

On a refeed... Vector and Capn' Crunch, Lucky Charms.... umm, for nutrition, I dunno, all I do is eat oatmeal :-)
Smart Start Soy Protein by Kellogs.
Good, not sugary, and has added soy protein.

I don't know about many with much nutritional value besides fiber...except for Total and that's good.
Smacks (*salivates*...this has been a childhood favorite of mine)
But now I'm lactose intolerant and Lactaid doesn't seem to fuckin' work (my brother says it's the calcium...maybe), so I'm out of luck.

Total is a great cereal....taste is a personal thing, but it works well for me, and the vitamins and minerals in it cant hurt too much :D
09-09-2002, 01:43 PM
its good to see people pick count chocula :)
09-10-2002, 08:51 PM
Cheerios!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! always the best...
09-11-2002, 05:48 AM
Exactly goober i love total dry or on top of my oatmeal that gives me the fiber and the nutrients i need so its a perfect breakfast with a whey shake and no milk because i just dont eat milk with my cereal
09-11-2002, 06:17 AM
Basic 4 and raisn bran.
09-11-2002, 06:27 AM
For healthy eating I eat Kelloggs All-Bran Fibre (Original, cause it's got more in the box then Extra Fiber) and All-Bran Oats. Both are kinda expensive. I usually mix a half cup of each and put grraps or raisens on top.
If I had to eat "crappy" cereal then I'd say Captain Crunch or Raisen Bran.
09-11-2002, 06:55 AM
raisin bran isnt a crappy cereal
09-11-2002, 07:12 AM
rasin bran is pretty good for you isn't it? unless they have added sugar to it since i last had it.
09-11-2002, 07:40 AM
its good for you all the sugar in it comes from the raisins
09-12-2002, 06:30 AM
this is purley for taste.
i get a big bowl and fill with
kelogs krunchy nut cornflakes
fruit a bix
and about a pint of milk

Kashi Go Lean Crunch.......high in protein (for a cereal anyway) and Kellog's Fruit & Fiber.
09-12-2002, 12:51 PM
I go to this store and you can buy like whole 5 lbs bags of plain or honey granola(to me this is very cool) and it is intended for cooking and has sugars in it, but its a good way to get carbs in the morning. Plus I just eat it like cereal with milk and it taste awsome.
09-14-2002, 01:11 PM
Favourite cereals eh?
Grape Nuts O's
Cinnamon Toast Crunch
French Toast Crunch
Reeses Peanut Butter Cup
Boo Berry (Not bad...)
Damn.... long list.... its long, just can't think of anymore right now.
09-14-2002, 01:45 PM
O's are soooo good! :D
09-15-2002, 09:56 AM
Cinnamon toast crunch hands down.

Protein Plus is pretty good except 1.its relatively pricey and 2.those parnoid of soy won't go near it
09-19-2002, 12:43 PM
