View Full Version : 20 times bodyweight for bulking

Let's assume my plan is to bulk from 185 lbs. I use a 20 x bw of 185 and consume about 3800 calories a day.

Now I am at 188. Should I be re-adjusting my calorie intake now to represent 20 x 188 in order to keep progressing?

Well, if you are really wanting to do 20X bw, then @ 185 you should have been eating 3700, then up to 3760 at 188 :D I don't think 60 calories is going to make a difference. That said, if you get up to 200 lbs, then yeah, you would probably have to increase calories to keep bulking. If not at 200 lbs, at least at some point.

Yeah, I was approximating. My diet worked out to about 3800. I know 60 cals isn't a big deal, but just wondered if I didn't adjust how it would affect things as I continued to get heavier.

I guess I better gain weight before I worry about it huh?:D

Gaining weight for me (good lean weight) is very hard for some reason.

How in the heck people 5'9" get to 200-210 lbs. at 6-8% bodyfat is beyond me?

You know Shawn Ray doesn't calorie count. Neither do I really. You don't need to. It does help some people tho, i know dorian used to ....... down to eat single gram of carbs.

Keeping an eye on carbs is the best way of maipulating your diet is what i've found.

i think so bennett boy just eat aprox 3800 cals a few cals below or above isnt going to hurt just if you weigh food or proportion it out go a tad over instead of under or exact

Years of bulking and cutting, hard work and determination (and all too often, gear).

That's my long term goal as well (minus the juice).
