my dad told me to cook it on a frying pan in water to get some fat out of it. Will this hurt the protein numbers? How do you cook it?

to cook faster (and ensure its cooked thoroughly) - cut the sausage lengthwise and place the cut side down in the pan. A small amount of water is ok. Put a lid on it, and cook for 5 min or until done.
And - no - it won't hurt the protein content. However, I do feel there are better choices for protein than sausage if you are not on a keto diet.
