Canola Oil

Around the water cooler at work, we were talking about a recent article on canola oil. Apparently, the canola oil thing is a big scam, and canola oil is derived from some canadian plant that is so toxic even insects won't eat it.

I just bought this trans-fat free margerine spread, its its main ingredient is liquid canola oil (which i noticed after i bought it)....should i be worried?

what are your thoughts and opinions on canola oil...because its in a LOT of the stuff we eat.

First question...is that margarine solid...if so, that canola oil is hydrogenized...hence the claim of transfatty acids is crap.

I've never heard anything toxic about canola oil, now castor bean oil, that is another story entirely.

As far as the trans fat free marginine, it could easily be trans fat free, solid, and composed of a canola oil base. Emulsifiers and other additives are used to achieve this effect

its a green plant with a yellow flowers. its quite pretty.

rape seed is NOT toxic, unless you are a rat.

rape seed is high in erucic acid (spelling?), where as canola is not.
