ok got a work out in did 9 sets for chest

shoulder is hurting but got through it

40 lb db bench 3sets strict as hell x12
plate loaded press 3x12
fly press(machine 3x12

i know this looks week but i want to take it slow my shoulder is still really weak and i dont want to chance it

11-06-2002, 12:34 PM
Dude don't worry how much you are lifting relative to others...or even relative to how much you used to lift. Just take it slow and ease yourself back. You've been out of things for a while now...another week or two taking things easy won't do you any harm, whereas the alternative probably will.

Good on ya man.

We played football last weekend but it sucked because the ground is frozen, covered in ice and dusted with snow. I can't wait for the spring thaw so i can put cleats on again.

You are looking swole in that hall pic Scott.... if you've got to rehab after the surgery that makes perfect sense as a time to cut; get a good grip on your diet and strip off some of that BF to expose the nice new muscles you've grown.

I'd ask your doc if you can keep doing legs and stuff while rehabbing the shoulder... and then cut smartly and steadily. The low carb idea is probably good; your posted diet stuff looks not too different from what I used to eat. I am/was a carb whore. Gonna likely try atkins-type cut as of mid-April. Until then, I'm still bulking relatively cleanly.

Only advice I have at this point would be to try and get some fish in your diet; man shouldn't live by chicken alone. :D

Some people don't buy it but I had some good results going on the Blood Type diet. Do you know your Blood Type?

02-14-2003, 02:11 PM
Can you give me a rough estimate of what your daily diet looks like? Maybe a rough cal count? I have some general guidelines that I usually post over in diet and nutrition that I can post over here if you like but I am sure you know most of it. By the way looks like you gained a significant amount of LBM on the last bulk. Congrats.

Bam Bam
02-14-2003, 02:17 PM
what ive been eating the last week trying to cut

8 am 4 eggs 1 whole 1 glass of milk and protein

11- post workout shake malto and protein(workout changes daily time wise)

12- chicken and rice

1 can of tuna

2 pistachios, almonds or peanuts sometimes cashews

3 protein shake or hamburger pattie

6- tuna or chicken

8- more nuts and sometimes hot cocoa

11- cassinate for bed time

02-14-2003, 04:33 PM
Looks pretty good to me. Although I am unsure whether I would keep carbs that low. I would either go with a more balanced diet, maybe isocaloric or something along the lines of a TKD or NHE. You are almost performing a TKD as it is because the only carbs I see are from milk, rice, postworkout shake, and maybe few from the nuts.

Callahan also had some good advice about the fish. I think salmon is probably one of the best all around meats there is. Excellent source of protein and healthy fats. I will check back in and see what you think.

Callahan--What is the blood type diet. Do you have any links? Thanks in advance.

People seem to have good results using the NHE diet. Check out ericg's journal. He just started the NHE diet and there is another one (moose's I think) that might be of help. Will be happy to offer any assistance I can on whichever one you choose. Although I would imagine that you will lose bf on the diet that you posted above. Good luck with it.:)

day 4 of NHE diet so far so easy i feel great like a monstar on saturday worked out sunday legs as my arm is still slinged i am becoming an omellete junky

current supps

protein powder)1 or two servings because of carbs

multi vit and vit c (i need to get calcuim pills)

i am going to start off at around 50-60 grams of carbs and refeed every 3rd day if i dont seee good results i will switch the carbo to every 4th day

02-23-2003, 04:35 PM
Are you performing the metabolic shift part of the diet Bam-Bam? If so a fiber supplement may be a good investment. How long is the arm going to be in a sling? Keep up the good work on the diet;)

Don't worry man it is not a neccessity, but with all the fat and protein that gets taken in on the metabolic shift and the lack of fiber sometimes a supp is helpful to keep everything flowing nicely. If all is well then don't worry about it.

Bam Bam
02-24-2003, 11:07 AM
bradley how does my after metabo diet look from above post

02-24-2003, 02:28 PM
Are you referring to the 50-60g of carbs on low carb days and then carb ups every 3rd day? That sounds fine to me but carb ups every 3rd day could be a little soon. I would go with every 3rd day and then the next carb up on the 4th day. If these are too far apart then you can move them closer together.

You could add in some ALA to supp with during the carb loads if you wanted to. I didn't see a specific meal by meal listing but as long as you stay within the guidelines you posted above you should be good to go.

thanks bradley i am going to try to follow NHE as much as my weight will allow me too but if i feel i may end up over i will just follow it without the carb ups

would i run into any problems with that??

03-17-2003, 09:16 PM
Depends on how low your cals go under maintence. Also sometimes its a good idea to carb up to refresh muscle glycogen levels. Also you Leptin levels may drop a bit. If the fight isn't untill the 29th I would still carb up but keep protein really low and don't go too high from maintence. Also try taking some ala with your carb ups that will help drive the carbs to you muscles.

One thing that I am learning about this diet its not a keto and it relies on you carb ups becasuse fat is not as high. On a Keto there is really no need for carb ups every couple of days due to your body being in ketosis. Fat must me kept at least 60% and carbs should be kept under 30. You may want to try it untill your fight then switch back. Just my $0.02.

I wouldn't think so, but I would still have at least one carb up per week and maybe just go with slightly over maintenance cals. Make sure the carb ups have minimal protein and fat and I think you will be fine.

last night i really ****ed up in two ways first i was at the club and some girl who i dont even like was talking about me adn the dude she was with started in well hes got all these other girls hanging on him in the other room or something to that effect. so she comes over i am of coarse by my self and she tells me someone told her this and that. I told her we were not together and whoever told her that was on some ho **** and i was in a chill mood . Five mins later 2 guys come over and one said so i am a ho huh?? I said not only that your a ****ing lie thats when dude #2 who was quiet the whole time took a shot at me and i hit him 2 maybe three times he fell and the other guy just sat there i got escorted out of the club. Now for the real ****ed up part i went to the diner afterwards and had a huge omellette home fries and bicuits and gravy totally ruining my diet

anyway friday i leave out for dallas i am probably not going to post much this week i will try to get my mind ready for the weekend

03-23-2003, 04:41 PM

I wanted to share my thoughts before this fight (or any fight for that matter)

I really dont think anything about the fight untill a few weeks out when i start invisioning all the ways i will destroy my opponents or opponent depending on the set up. the week before the fight i start to question my manhood. I wonder if i am strong enough tough enough or have the moxy to do what i have to do in the ring. I may have a dream or two of not being able to affect my opponent at all in the fight. My puches dont phase him in the least, like i am a few hundred men going against thousands and i am armed with slingshots while they are heavily armed. By now my pyschy is ruined i admit defeat in my mind and i am scared of how i might shame myself in the ring. As all emotions do this passes and i become peaceful with the fact i might be lose and lose bad. It becomes a test in my mind to see how i can deal with a punishing defeat and the fear lifts from my mind like a morning fog over the city. At this point i am very sureal. Usually this takes place a few days before fight day this is when i know i am ready to fight and become very anxious. I generally cant sleep in anticipation of the fight and often find myself in verge of tears as my adrenaline mounts. On fight day i usually watch saving private ryan or braveheart relax and get all my stuff ready. i typically show up 3-4 hrs before an event is scheduled to start where i do all paperwork and get situated. If its a tournament i generally seak out my opponents and make casual conversation hoping to find any weaknesses i can expose. I typically come off real nice if its tournament let the guys ask or talk away if its one fight i just put on the head phones and go into my own little world. When i get into the ring there isnt much going in my mind when the bell rings i release like a dog attacking another no hatred just instinct i go untill i am stop its pretty pure actually i dont intend to hurt i just go

Bam Bam

trying to keep on nhe

eating 3 lbs of almonds/cashews a week does that seem like too much?>?

04-02-2003, 02:17 PM
Not really, especially if they are making up a large portion of your cals for the day. I would say a couple of handfuls per sitting would be plenty.

Bam Bam
04-15-2003, 10:51 AM
wedding was fun i am thinking of doing NHE but i didnt reallylose weight after first 8-10 lbs i would lose during low carb days but gain back at carb up but since i dont need a certain weight for my next fight i may do it in hopes of shedding some fat

Although you didn't lose much scale weight it seemed from the pics that you leaned out a bit. Have you though about checking your bf% before starting just to see if it changes much through the course of the diet?

Bam Bam
04-16-2003, 08:23 AM
dont get me wrong bradley i like nhe and i think its would work well but i need to drop under 199 to get into the light weightclass in next event id hate to have my first fight be against a guy 240 or so

04-16-2003, 01:54 PM
I understand that completely. I was under the impression that you weren't trying to make a certain weight class. Maybe a more balanced approach would work better? Isocaloric maybe?

FOR SURE Smurf pics and maybe vid snips

As for the fights It was 16 man open tourny THe first fight was against a 6ft 212 lb fighter who was a freestyle fighter he went right for a shoot after a stomp/shin attempt and i sprawled throwing close glancing shots when my sprawl outlasted his shoot i drilled him 2 or 3 times he went out fight lasted 8 seconds

Second fight was against a wrestler he was 5ft 8 230 lbs He got me on the ground a few times but was willing to box alot of the fight it went into the second 5 min rd and he tried to get in a lock but didnt shoot hard i threw several straight punches and caught him against the ropes i continued to throw and he turned his head he never went down but i was getting hard shots on his head as he covered the ref stopped it at 241 in rd 2

Third fight was against another wrestler he was nearly 250 lbs and this was a semi final fight he shot i never got a clean shot on him in rd one he had a low guard and punished me throughout the rd. Rd 2 started and i got a big left on him as he shot in but it didnt stop him from taking me down i never got off the ground against him but did bloody his nose from the guard. He was too big and strong i had no chance to get up and i couldnt begin to get a arm lock or neck crrank on him and the ref stopped the fight 318 into the second rd. I dont think i could have won but i think the stoppage was premature i wasnt hurt and i felt like i was defending against his strikes but who knows he went on to get beat in the finals by a jui jitsu guy 108 in first rd by choke.

I really feel bad about the fight i was outmatched outclassed and out muscled we could have fought 10 times and i really dont think i would have won any of them which really is hard to swallow. Afterwards he told me i a was game and gave me props i was kinda pissed not at him but at myself and told him yeah i wish we could have stayed standing a bit and he said yeah that would have been fun. Well for my ass beating i got i walked away with $500 for 3 fights not too good but ohwell Once again i will have pics as soon as possible ill take some probably tonight

BTW there wernt many casualities with the tornado for all that were wondering

05-12-2003, 11:11 AM
what type of fighting is this?

is it sort of like that "Ultimate Fighting" type thing?

05-12-2003, 11:48 AM
Good deal on the fights, thanks for the updates - felt like I was right there the way you illustrated things...

ain't these tornadoes too much!? It is a blessing there were not more casualties, glad you are ok.

Hey, Bam, sorry about your loss. Quick question...where do you train?

Bam Bam
05-21-2003, 11:58 AM
I Train with weights at THe Health Club its the best place by far ive seen around here
Fighting wise i train at Stanley complex

05-21-2003, 01:45 PM
I like The Health Club, I have a few friends that work out there. I'm about to join Universal in Moore. I asked because I know a few people that train for boxing/kickboxing at Conan's in Norman.

Bam Bam
05-21-2003, 05:44 PM
I have heard conan was a bad man but he was more into training groups than giving away one on one training. I was going to say i that moore had a few nice looking ones but i have never trained at them

05-21-2003, 08:12 PM
I only took kickboxing there for a few months b/c of lack of time and money. You're right though. Conan is a bad man; however, in my experience, it was all group training, and too much time was spent on other things like ab exercises (1/2 of each session). I'm all about abs; however, I would have rather worked on technique during that time and done abs on my own time.

diet this whole week has been good

eating mainly protein and fats with carbs coming post workout ,in the morning with milk and snacking on almonds peanuts or cashews during the day

weight staying at 203 but i am definetly leaning

took creatine after leg workout noticed nothing

06-11-2003, 01:53 PM
are you using any kind of supps to help you lean up, bammer? (i.e. ephedrine/caffiene)

Bam Bam
06-11-2003, 01:57 PM
i had taken ephedrine for a few weeks but then i had a hard on that wasnt at its hardest so i quit

to tell the truth i have been thinking about PH but i am a wussy so i probably wont do it

i am hoping the creatine keeps me fuller or allows heavier training as i am cutting

06-11-2003, 02:00 PM
i totally think the creatine is part of what is helping you train heavy and often, as it helps with recovery

I'd do a cycle of PHs in a second except they're a pain for me to get here in Canada... I mean for all it'd cost to do some 1-test or whatever, it'd be worth a shot I think

Bam Bam
06-12-2003, 10:59 AM

Sup Scott...where you training grappling? Is it BJJ or some type of wrestling? How do you like it...well it's rubbing up to sweaty men, I know you'd love it :D, but seriously what do you think of it compared to standup?

Bam Bam
07-04-2003, 10:42 AM
tankette :D

peit thanks for dropping by i am training with greco wrestlers here and there. learning basic movements and incorperating them into pounding someones face ;) There is a place nearby that trains in multiple arts including boxing bjj and wrestling one of the instructers also has fought ufc its called USA stars i am thinking abou training there

i have great respect for it its just as intricate as stand up every move or movement has an effect on the fight. I find my longer thinner legs dont help me so much on bottom but i feel my thicker upper body allows me to control limbs and movements while on top
