Whats the best kind of diet for bulking?

40/30/30? 50/30/20? (carbs/protein/fat)

...HOW IMPORTANT ARE CARBS, should they be very high???

I prefer the 40/30/30 radio. You keep your blood sugar levels low so that your hormonal system works well.
You control insulin levels(at first) to ensure that most of the weight you gain is muscles, not fat.
The only time you need high carbs is postworkout when your intake of carbs/protein should be 2/1 or 3/1(try and see what works better for you.Generally, carb intake should come from the low gi carb list.

Also keeping low blood sugar levels, you let growth hormone do its job. This is the most important.Faster recovery, more muscles, less body fat, strong bones etc..
The 30%ratio of fat is important as you promote more testosterone production.
Finally, before staring, calculate your caloric intake maintenance level and add 300 calories.Start with this amount of cals. Then every week add 300 calories until reaching your goal.
Btw,most people suggest 60/30/10,and that's why they get fatter and bloated and look like water balloons :D

i agree with most of the principles that alpha talked about. It is certainly a good place to begin. I definitely agree with the very low fat diet = bloat!

when I'm bulking I generally don't count calories or percentages, if I'm not getting bigger I'll eat more, if I'm getting to fat I'll eat less.

I started bulking this week and i will go 40/30/30 increasing my calories by 300 every other week until i reach 4200-4500 cals.
