View Full Version : Flaxseed oil replacement question
Is there anything natural source which has similar nutrition values to flaxseed oil?.....which one of the following has the closest properties and would be the best replacement for flax? -
1. Cod liver oil
2. Olive oil
3. Safflower oil
4. Sunflower oil

the closest would probably be, and i might be mistaken, is cod liver oil.
Olive is mostly monounsaturated (oleic acid)
sunflower is mostly w6 i think
safflower is mostly w6 i think

mix some of the oils together (i.e. 50% olive, 25% cod, 25% safflour) would be my suggestion. that or just eat whole flax seeds. I eat "Uncle Sam's" cereal which has whole flax seed in it myself.
I'm assuming that it's that you don't like flaxseed oil, not that you're allergic to it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I'll do that. Mix them is my best solution. Olive oil, cod liver oil and sunflower oil are aplenty here in India. Flaxseed is not at all available here..........
