What is your goal? In other words...
To become better at biking...biking.
To become better at running long distances...running long distances.
To raise your VO2 max without compromising muscle gains...interval training. (on a bike, running, whatever).

I like the bike no stress or impact and you can go real intense. But nothing works your harder than a plain old treadmill my heart is moving so much harder so much quiker when i run. It takes a lot more work on a bike or stepper to get the same amount of exercise out of 20 minutes on a treadmill. In my experiences.

I agree with tryska. I enjoy Interval training also, but I must admit I love the rowing machine. Its not only great excercise but moving my body like you do on the Rowing machine reminds me of something except that I am missing an important ingrediant. I cant figure out what it is:thumbup: Also Swimming is an excellent all round workout.

I think swimming is the best all round but you have to do what you like otherwise your just not going to keep it up.
I personally like running outside the best, I run on a treadmill in the winter and listen to my toons. :)

I like jogging best. 60-70% of max HR.

i say running is best for increasing endurance, it just takes so much work as opposed to bikes and stairsteppers
