I've been working out now for about 8 months, only really serious for the past month. I just started my new diet a week ago though. I'm hoping to gain about 25 pounds. Or at least thats my goal. I'm sure it will take awhile though. I lift usually three times a week. Monday tri's-chest
thursday Legs-Abs
Saturday Bi's-back

My stats are:
16
5'6"
117 lbs.
about 8% Bf
Bicep-12.5
Forearm-11.5
Thigh-20.5
Calves-13.5
Chest-35

I'm kind of cut, not too strong yet, but I'm sure strength will increase as I gain more weight.

today was a leg day for me, I work out at my house, so I don't have too much equipment yet, but I just got a job so I'll soon have money for equipment, for now I have adjustable dbs, a small and very light barbell, bench, and like 92lbs in weights, which isn't enough, I need another hundred pounds or so. So I could be doing alot heavier on some lifts if I had more weights.

The last time I maxed out which was about a month or two ago my stats were:
Bench:125
Deadlift:345
Squat:295

Todays workout:
Deadlift 3 sets of 12-102
SLDL 3 sets of 10-60
Leg curls 3 sets of 10-47
Leg Ex. 3 sets of 10-73
calf raises 3 sets of 10-70
50 crunches
25 reverse crunches

My hams were really sore today after SLDL, first time I've done them in about 3 weeks. it was painful to walk up the stairs right after to go to the bathroom, I almost fell down the stairs, lol.

Do you realize you can max deadlift 3 times your bodyweight. You should try competitive powerlifting....um ok. :)

Are you sure you can deadlift and squat that much? hehe....You could do real well in powerlifting, except for that bench. I knew a guy who weighed 110 and benched 215 in powerlifting..not too shabby :) Keep up the good work Ironman.

thanks for the comments, yea I have really strong legs for my size, but my upper body is lacking in strength. but I figure if I just start eating more and gaining some weight my upper body will catch up with my lower.

I'm pushing my back and bicep lifts to tomorrow, for some reason my upper back has been sore since my leg-ab day. I'm not sure why, I did deadlifts which should make my lower back sore, but my traps and the middle of my back is sore. My hamstrings are still a little sore too.

Ironman15

Did bi's and back today. However my back was still sore so I dropped off bent over rows, and one arm rows for today.

Frontal raises- 3 sets-8/20 10/20 8/25
Lateral Raises- 3 ses-10/11 8/11 8/11 these are really weak, I need to improve them but my damn annoying right shoulder always pops when I do them
Upright rows-3 sets 8/38 8/44 6/50
EZ bar curl-3 sets 10/41.5 8/47.5 6/51.5
incline curl-3 sets 8/30 6/36 6/40
Reverse forearm curl-3 sets 10/44 10/50 8/60
chinups- 3 sets 8xBW 4xBW+10lbs. 4xBW+10lbs.

Forearms got a great pump out of the workout, biceps feel good too. Bot sure why my back has been so sore though. Well its time for a protein shake.

How many 117lbers do you know on juice?

I would pay money to see someone with your stats, deadlift that much. Good money.

I agree. You can deadlift 345 but you can only hoist your bodyweight 4x with 10 extra pounds!

Yea my legs are strong like I said and my upperbody is weak but I'm working on that. But I could have done more than 4 pullups with that 10 extra pounds if I hadn't done them last while my body was extremely sore. Maybe only like two or three more though. I made huge progess back in december through april on my legs. I only worked them once a week, and I did deadlifts and squats on alternating weeks. My deadlift went up from 180 to 345, and squat from 155 to 295. However in that time my bench only went from 95 to 125. I think I was overtraining my upperbody in that time period though.

I've decided now instead of having set days for lifting days, I'm just going to rest two days after every workout, I don't like lifting when i'm sore, it just doesn't feel good. So that means wednesday is my chest-tri day. I'd have to say its probably my favorite workout. Legs use to be my fav but since I started working out at home and my equipment sucks, because I need a new barbell and like 150 more pounds in plates my legs just aren't gettin the workout they deserve. :(

Ironman15

Body is still some what sore from yesterdays workout, I might end up doing chest and tris tomorrow though. My lats are the sorest part, my bi's are a little sore. It just depends how I feel tomorrow I guess. Diet is going good so far. I've already drank like a half a gallon of milk today. I think I drank over a gallon yesterday. :D

After swimming for about 2 hours today, and swimming some laps I decided to just leave my chest-tri workout for tomorrow. I just hope my new sunburn doesn't effect how I lift.

Sleep has been good, getting about 10 hours in every night.

Diet is also good. Ate about 2800 calories today, good for me. I usually stick around 2200.

Can't wait to workout tomorrow, my lats are still a little sore from chinups though, I use to have big lats until I stopped working out at my high school, Then I stopped working my lats for awhile and now it looks like I don't have any, but I'll fix that problem.

Did my tri-chest-shoulder workout today. And I made alot of gains, either in reps or weight or both.

Flat bench-3 sets-10-83.5 6-91.5 3-97.5
standing overhead shoulder press-2 sets-8-62 9-62
Incline dumbell flyes-3 sets-10-50 8-50 4-62
Shrugs-3 sets-10-102 10-102 90-102
Db incline bench-3 sets-6-70 5-70 4-70
Overhead tri-press-2 sets-7-31 6-31
pullups-3 sets-BWclosegrop-6 Bwmidgrip-4 Bwwide-4

Really was a great workout, felt pumped up, did sets to failure on everything but flat barbell bench, didn't feel like killing myself, however I did make good gains on my bench for reps. Followed my routine with a nice protein shake. I was in pain a little from my sunburn but I worked through it nicely.

Had cross country practice this morning at 8. Ran about 3.5 miles, but I got like 6 hours of sleep and I'm about to fall over. A nap sounds good later. Time to get some food. :D

Ironman15
07-13-2001, 07:37 AM
Had cross country practice again today, ran about 4 miles. The only problem is that I have legs and abs tomorrow and my legs are killing my from running so I might have to make tomorrow bicep and back day, and push my leg workout back until my body gets use to running again. I hate not being able to work my legs though.

I'm still sore in my tri's, shoulders, and chest which is good.

Weight gaining process is doing ok. Started out about 12 days ago at 14.5, now up to 117.5. I'm ****ed though we're out of tuna. But I had alot of chicken yesterday, much better tasting then tuna.

Sleep hasn't been good past two days. Having to get up at 7:30 is no fun. Especially when I can't fall asleep until 3. I did manage to get about a 2 hour nap in yesterday.

Ironman15
07-14-2001, 05:39 PM
Legs were still killing me today so I decided to switch my back and bicep day with my leg day.

bentover rows-2 sets-10-44 8-50
Frontal Raises-2 sets-10-23 10-25
Upright Row-3 sets-8-48 8-54 7-60
Hangcleans-2 sets-11-60 11-68
EZ Curl-2 sets-10-51.5 close grip 6-51.5 wide grip
Incline curl-2 sets-8-41 10-41
chinups-2 sets-BW-7 Bw-4

Workout felt pretty good, hangcleans felt great, hadn't done them in awhile. I was looking forward to do legs today but my left calf, and right butt cheek, are still sore, lol. I'm not quite sure how my butt hurts from running but it does. So I guess I'll be doing legs next tuesday.

Sleep is good
Diet needs to step up, Protein is good, but need more calories.

Ironman15
07-17-2001, 09:16 PM
Legs today, all I have to say is I need some new equipment, I'm never trying to squat without a rack. Plus its almost pointless squatting with 100 pounds. I need a couple hundred more pounds of weights and a power rack before I can do anything with my legs really like squatting and deadlifting.

squat 3 sets-10-68 10-100 12-100
SLDL 3 sets-10-68 10-78 10-84
Leg Curls 2 sets-12-53 10-65
Leg Ext 2 sets-15-75 15-75
Calf Raises 2 sets-20-82 20-82
Crunches 2 sets of 35

Decent workout, I feel like my hamstrings are going to get huge and my quads are going to be tiny because of my equipment problem. I might end up getting a short term membership at a gym until christmas when I can buy some new stuff.

Diet is going good, when to the grocery store today and bought alot of ****.

I was just thinking about what I want to accomplish in bodybuilding and why I'm doing this, and I remember the first time I felt like a scrawny pussy and needed to workout, and I thought it would keep me motivated. I was at a track meet, and this really hot girl I'm talking to says to me, wow, you would have really nice legs if you were a girl. Ever since then, I've wanted to get rid of my chicken legs.

I can do sldl with more weight in each hand than you do total, yet you have the same max dead as me. Hmmmm, lil strange.

Latman if you read any of the other stuff above, you would know I only have 90 lbs in plates, so I can't exactly go to my potential, and like I said when I maxed out was like 2 months ago, after that I had taken awhile off, like 3 weeks because of baseball, right now I would say I could only deadlift 300. And I would squat because I love to, but I just don't have the right equipment yet.

Chris Rodgers
07-19-2001, 07:07 AM
It says you squatted 100x12. If you had 100lbs for squats, you had 100 for sldl, right? It just doesn't make sense. I cna do sldl with over 250 lbs and my max deadlift is the same as the one you posted.

Ironman15
07-19-2001, 11:58 AM
Well I'm sure I could have added 16 pounds and still got it 10 times. Its not exactly a hard lift. Plus how much you SLDL doesn't completely show how much you can deadlift, yea your hamstrings and lower back play a part in SLDL and Deadlift, but your butt also plays a big part in deadlift where it doesn't in SLDL. So hey maybe I have a stronger ass than you?

NE ways my diets been really good, I'm up to 119 now. Went up two pounds in about two weeks.

Sleep is good.

Tricep-Chest-Shoulder

Todays workout was basically ****ty and late. I was supposed to do this workout friday but decided not to because of a baseball game today but ended up not even getting a ball hit to me so it wouldn't have mattered. Then before I worked out I went swimming for a couple hours and that drained all of my energy.

Bench 3 sets-10-87.5 6-91.5 4-97.5
Overhead shoulder press 2 sets-9-62 6-62
Incline Flyes 2 sets-8-50 6-50
DB incline 2 sets-5-70 5-70
Shrugs 2 sets-10-90 10-90
Pullups 2 sets-Close-7 Mid-4

I ended up doing much less than normal and really didn't make much gains from my tiredness.

However diet is going good. But sleep could be better.

Ironman15
07-27-2001, 09:29 PM
Well basically I've been a lazy ass all week. I worked out today for the first time in almost a week. And my diet has been sucking lately.

Back-Biceps

Bentover Rows 2 sets-10-54 10-58
Frontal Raises 2 sets-10-25 8-28
Hangcleans 2 sets-10-68 9-74
EZ Curl 2 sets-7-57.5 close grip 6-51.5 wide grip
Alt. DB Curls 2 sets-11-21 10-21 Weight per Db
Chinups 2 sets-4xBW 4xBW

Not too bad of a workout, need to improve diet and workout though. Hopefully tomorrow I'm going to an actual gym to workout my legs, but I'm running in a 5 mile race tomorrow so might end up doing Pull workout instead.

Ironman15
08-01-2001, 02:29 PM
Went to the gym with a friend today. Hopefully I'll be getting a pass there soon and I should be gettin another job here soon.

Legs today it was nice to workout in the gym for the first time in awhile.

Squats 3 sets-10-95 8-135 5-185
SLDL 2 sets-10-100 10-100
Leg curls 2 sets-10-70 10-70
Leg Ext 2 sets-10-100 10-100
Seated calf raises 2 sets-20-35 20-35

Felt good to get a decent leg workout for the first time in awhile. However I was sick yesterday and threw up twice. And still didn't feel up to par today.

Diet is going decent. I had a couple horrible days a week ago. But the past week I've stepped it back up. Not so much focusing on eating clean just trying to get all the calories I can while keeping the protein intake high. I eat as clean as I can but I can't resist the temptation of eating out once in awhile and I'm skinny enough to suffer some fat gain too.

Hey kid, You're only 16, you'll naturally get bigger later on.
You should be playing outside. Just eat a lot that's all.
Stay away from this forum.
I was 117 lbs. @ 16. I'm 23 now, and am 165.

WTF kind of advice is this? Let him do what he wants. If he wants to get into lifting now then more power to him. Gaining 48 lbs in 7 years is no monsterous feat. Cack did that in like a month, lol.

hey buddy, what kind of advice is that? why should he not work out and play outside? it's good that you were a mere 117 @ 16, and yet you decided not to do anything about it. and you say you're 165.. how tall are you? big deal you're 23 and 165.
