Some days ago I found this in bodybuilding.com:
"Some scientists have speculated that type II collagen may help prevent the degeneration of joints that occurs with weight training exercise and have suggested that supplementing your diet with gelatin may actually allow you to build healthier joints. (In this regard, it seems to act similar to glucosamine)"
So I gave it a try and started adding a packet of KNOX
in my protein shakes a week ago. Now,I am sure that it really works,as my joint problems in my hands which were preventing me from giving my 100%of efforts while working out have -at least- been reduced (mostly dessapeared!)
I found it interesting and though it would be good to report it....

Would eating Jello be equivalent? Jello is really just Knox gelatin w/ flavor and sweetener added...just wondering.

makes sense, considering gelaitn is made of the the boney, gluey, cartilage parts of animals........i've been anti-gelatin for a while...but i might just have to renege on that and give it a shot...

Yes,of course. As long as it contains gelatin,it's ok.

Cool. I like Jello on these hot, humid days. And the sugar-free stuff fits nicely into my diet.

And in some very rare cases people have contracted the human form of B.S.E by eating gelatin

Gelatin DOES mainly come from cooked-down animal hooves, mostly cow, so that may be true.

My vet even recommended checking the origin of rawhide dog chews...if it came from any of the countries that have had cases of B.S.E., don't buy it.

in the spirit of Gelatin and the Tuna Master.....i present you:

Tuna Mousse!

360 grams tuna
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 small onion
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoon ketchup
1 cup sour cream or yogurt
GELATIN MIX:

18 grams kosher gelatin powder
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup hot water
Put all ingredients for the mousse in a food processor and process for 3 minutes.

GELATIN: Mix gelatin with regular water, add hot water and mix till gelatin melts completely.

Add the hot gelatin mix to the mixture in the food processor and process for 2 minutes.

Pour the mixture into fish- shaped bowl (or any other shape you desire) and cool in refrigerator for 4 hours.

Before serving, loosen the mousse from the bowl with a sharp knife.

Put the bowl in hot water for 2 seconds. Cover the bowl with a serving plate and turn the bowl upside-down. The mousse will slide to the serving plate.

Garnish with fish eggs, gelatin cubes, parsley etc.

bet you thought you were just kidding huh alpha?

Hmmm....tuna mousse.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. tuttut

Jello w/pineapple, cherries, mandarin oranges, and little marshmallows in it sounds much better ;)

Lately this board has been making me very hungry...what with all the recipes and all.
