How about eating some form of Low GI carb about 2hrs before a game??? therefore giving you sustained energy throughout your game!
Just a thought.

athletes need carbohydrates for optimum performance in sports...change to a different diet while in season

Don't use a keto diet. Eat under maintenance.
First of all, DURING the season is not a time to worry about your physical condition - that's what the off-season is for bro. You don't have to cut carbs out of your diet to lose body fat - just watch your portions, the kinds of carbs you eat, and when you eat them. You ABSOLUTELY need carbs for intense training - during 3-a-day preseason practice for college football, I'd consume 800-1000g carbs every day, during regular PREseason training, 400-500g.
The best thing to do is post your average daily diet and practice/training schedule, and we can help you restructure your diet to be more effective.

I agree with gino, you NEED the carbs during season. With that said, the most important thing now would be portions. Personally, like gino said, I wouldn't mess around with that now, stuff like that should be for the offseason. Just my two cents.
