i read somewhere about 30 mins. is that correct?
if so then the water that you drink in the gym does not stop you from dehydration because its not absorbed until you're out of the gym right?
i'm thinking i should start drinking more before the workout.

try drinking 1-1.5 gallons over the course of a day. If you can keep a higher water balance in your body overall, it will help with dehydration.

Guess it depends on what you mean. If you are dehydrated, water can start to rehydrate your body while it's in your mouth. Most water is absorbed in the colon so 30 minutes sounds about right.
Unless you are going into the gym dehydrated, you won't have to worry I think.
various factors will effect it.
Are we talking about de-ionised water or tap water will even make a difference?

Water (h2o, nothing else) requires no digestion. However, other foods can interfere with its absorption.
