View Full Version : How does creatine affect your appearance?
Do your muscles look fuller and harder, or do you look bloated and soft? Or does it vary, depending on the person? Thanks.

Varies person to person, but it does cause a little bloating in some people. Other than that, I didn't really notice a change in my body, just in energy levels in the gym.

I get a little bit of a bloat. Nothing huge, but it does make my arms look fuller. Me likes.

It makes you look all bloated and soft. That's why it's touted as one of the best supplements to have these days.
And yes, I'm being sarcastic. :dj:

It really depends more on your level of bf. If you are 9% and below you should look fuller and harder. anything above that you more than (likely) you will appear much fuller but a little softer. Genetics also plays a roll. Either way its completly worth it.

LOL, even if it did make you look soft, it could be one of the best supplements, since it is so effective. Anyhow, thanks for the replys.

I asked this before and was unable to get a clear answer;
I don't want to become a slave to Creatine i.e. I don't want to take it, get big and then once I stop shrink back down to pre-creatine levels. My question is, (and I believe that I'm correct in assuming that Creating allows you to futher protein synthesis if you increase your protein intake) if you take Creatine and adjust your diet accordingly, will there be permanent (you know what I mean) results, or will everything gained while on Creatine be lost after I stop taking it?
Thanks in advance,

All you will lose is the water (the same water you gained when starting it). If you gained real muscle, you wont lose that.

I have been taking creatine for a week now. Oddly enough, my bicep has grown .5". I am pretty sure it is just water being absorbed in. I also have been pounding out more reps, and heavier weights when working out. I am going to take 5g a day for 2 weeks, stop for a week, and repeat. Creatine is definately a great supp., for me anyways.

Why are you only doing 2 week cycles?

Found this on http://www.absolute-creatine.com/5.htm :
- Why do people cycle supplements?
Cycling first started with steroid use. The idea is that if you give your body a constant source of a substance - it may eventually get lazy and stop making the substance. In effect your body just relies on you to feed it the supplement - rather than making it. So, if you take a few weeks off from using supplement you ensure that your body will continue to produce the substance.
I think that hercule is doing it because he has recurrent liver problems in his family and doesn't want to take any risks. (I think thats what he posted in another thread...)

How long did it take everybody to can water weight?
About the same time I started taking creatine I increased my diet. Not good for a controled experiment. After about 3 weeks I put on 2 pounds. Pretty much jumped over a 3 day break. Now I've gained about 8-9 lbs but how much is water? I've read most people gain about 5lbs in the first few days, true? I didn't so does that mean it didn't work for me?
I don't really look any differant. Little bit in the gut I think that is from bulking.

From what I understand there is no point in cycling creatine.

no point to cycle I dont notice any thing I have been taking it for like 6 months strait. I am so use to it I dont even no if there has been a change any more. Just use it becasue you should. You are not going shrink back up it just helps with what you got.

When I started taking it, I instantly gained 20 lbs of fat and then I just kept getting fatter each week. So I stopped taking it, and I was able to maintain the 40 lbs of fat I had gained over the last month. This just goes to show you that for some people it works correctly and for others it works in reverse...
Plus, I just made that up...

Ditto. It makes as much sense as cycling vitamins.

I just recently stopped taking it, just to see what the difference would be. Within a few days, I noticed a decrease in energy while working out, and that I couldn't lift as much as I had been. I also lost about 4-5lbs. I have regained the pounds, and am ready to restart the Creatine use. I look forward to the energy increase, and hopefully I can gain a few more pounds.
And yes, on me (I'm very lean) the Creatine gives my muscles a fuller, harder look:thumbup:
