Well, I needed something to hold me over until my order arrives on Tuesday, so I reluctantly headed to GNC in search of some sort of cheap weight gainer. What I ended up leaving the store with was the MRP 'Fuel Plex' by Twinlab. Considering it was only $17.40 for 20 packets, I thought I'd give it a try.
This is the first time I've tried an MRP, and I've got to say that the chocolate surge tastes pretty good. Not only that but it's instantized! Anyway, I was looking at the ingredients and noticed that it had whey in it, so I can most likely use it post-workout as well.
Just wondering if anyone uses an MRP for their post-workout shake. I'm still contemplating whether I should go back and by another box or two for emergencies. :)

Weight gainers and protein powders are more or less MRPs. Protein + carbs.
Look at the amount of protein and carbs per pack and make up for the small amount of protein.

I like Fuelplex due to the small amount of liquid it requires...not to mention it tastes great.
I hear it's being discontinued though....thus the price drops.

Maybe that's why it was so cheap. Are they discontinuing just a certain flavor, or Fuel Plex altogether?

I always drink an MRP post-workout. I usually drink one almost every morning. Especially when I'm late for school (they're so quick to make).

It's not a good idea to take an MRP post workout, since they usually contain fat, which slows protein absorption.

I know, but the one I drink only contains about 3 gs of fat...

And actually if you look at most weight gainers (i.e. Serious Mass :D) they contain a substantial amount of fat.

Actually that would be a good thing. There have been some reports saying a mixture of fats carbs and protein is better than just carbohydrates or protein and carbohydrates alone for recovery. Slow protein dispersion as a post workout supports endogenous protein synthesis which is a result after a bout of resistance training.
I HATE fuelplex!
I had to resort to that stuff last year because it was sold by a local rite aid and I needed something asap. My body didn't even digest the stuff, made my stomach upset, and gave me the worst gas.
Death to fuelplex!!

Anyone else have opinions on this? Just curious because this is contradictory to most of what I have read. Not saying it it wrong just wanted other opinions.

Well, I just received my order of Muscle Milk yesterday, and I must say that this stuff is the best tasting supplement I have ever tried, hands down. It is phenomenal! I got the chocolate flavor, and the stuff actually tastes like a real shake. I mix it with about 2 cups of milk, and a dash or two of half & half.
Just thought I would share that with you guys. :D

Meal Replacement Powder. Contains the equivalent amount of nutrients and other stuff that a meal would have, yet they are quick and easy.
