I can understand why protein is so important in putting on muscle, but why does carbs matter too? I mean if you get enough carbs a day and burn it off during the daily routine, wouldn't that mean you'll be gaining muscle and not much fat?

I know this article is talking about low carb diets but thought it might help give a little insight into why carbs are important.
