.....are set by you.

In writing a PM to another member it reminded me of something I did right before I started my first cycle which was probably the smartest thing I ever did as far as steroid use goes.

For some of you this will not apply because it is intended for newbies before they start their first cycle...which I was a few years ago.

For those of us who already have some experience with anabolics I suggest you do this before you start your next cycle.

Also if you want to be a pro bodybuilder and don't care what it takes to achieve that then don't waste your time doing this. The purpose of this exercise is to help you define and achieve your goals in the safest and healthiest way possible.

I realize this may seem kinda silly at the moment to you, but trust me. When you look back a few years down the road you will understand.

I know I have helped many of you here but if there is a single thing you take away from knowing me or reading my posts please let it be this.

I will tell you that I once found myself saying the same thing as all newbies do "I'll only do one cycle"...if lifting is in your blood and steel courses through your veins you will never just stop after one cycle. So if you are not okay with that fact I strongly suggest you do not do a cycle at all. You will remember and miss making the gains you once had and the natural growth afterwards will be very slow....infinitely slower than the growth you are making right now.

If you do go ahead with your cycle just remember my words and know that you are going to do another....so my best suggestion to you is this....and please don't blow this off because this is the best advice I can give you.

Lay out some ground rules for yourself.

Get a piece of paper and write down.

1- How many cycles you will allow yourself per year.

2- How many cycles total in your lifetime.

3- Define some stopping point...each of us have a different idea of what we want out of our bodies, so make some realistic goals.

4- You should have done all your research before starting your first cycle so write down the drugs you will never use. Possibilities include but are not limited to Insulin, DNP, Clen, t-3, HGH, IGF, diuretics, even certain AS.

5- Side effects you will not tolerate and will stop your cycle if you experience them. Things such as hair loss, high blood pressure and even health markers if you get regular blood work during your cycle.

6- I don't believe in "roid rage" but steroids can affect your mood to one degree or another. So make a list of everything that is more important to you than gaining a few pounds of muscle (health, friends, family, relationships) If you ever find these things in difficult situations as a result of your steroid use agree with yourself to walk away from them forever.

Put all these things in writing and make an agreement with yourself. When you make an agreement with yourself it's one you cannot break and cannot get out of. If you sway from the path you set out on you will know inside you. You will know that a man who breaks his word is no man at all....and you will be reminded of that fact every time you look in the mirror from that day forward....

....so what will you see looking back at you???

Stickiness aside, I'd like to see some 'agreements' that some of the members here have made, especially the more experienced guys.

Great post, ST. Even though I'm not considering using AS in the near future because I'm still kinda new to weightlifting, I will keep this in mind if I ever decide to go for it.

Great post ST.

...and for someone like myself, roid rage was a reality on a couple occasions. I'm a pretty aggressive person during the possibility/occasion of physical confrontation. There have been times when I've kicked someone's ***** and needed restraining by friends for an hour after the confrontation was done, struggling against them and pulling muscles in the process. Exhausted, I'd finally give up, and be let go only to think about it again and go back into the rage, making calls to find out where the persons dorm/home was to pay them a visit. I've totalled a car, hurt myself and others before getting it under control. I guess it just depends on agressive tendencies in your personality, but in my opinion, it's definitely something to be aware of - unless you don't mind people thinking you're an ********* if it happens to you.

I'll be DAMNED!Somebody who has been there....done that and offers up some appropriate advice........first post I have responded to. Damn happy I read it......back to the drawing board .....after 10 long hard months of 5 days a week workouts I feel totally frustrated by the lack of size/weight gain As LAME as it may sounds I got the message. Thanks!

Great post, much appreciated.

I agree with budiak, I would like to see someones "agreements" that has done this, unless of course they feel it to be a personal thing. I havent done it yet, but maybe I'll post it when I do.

I just saw this thread, and I thought I'd add my thoughts.

As for the "I'll only do one cycle" bit.. I couldn't agree more.

Many people jump into this wondering about the physical effects of sauce. The physical effects can be bad, but the MENTAL effects will present you the toughtest battle. One simply cannot imagine how horrid it will be to jump up in strength/mass and then fall right back down. Regardless of what it does to your body, your mind is the one thing you seriously don't want to mess with.

So if you have the slightest doubt.. Then wait. You aren't ready yet.

I've met quite a few people who keep their strength or get stronger after a cycle, so I think the worst part would be struggling to reach goals that you saw only took a matter of months rather than years.

However, I do know how it feels to lose all the strength you've gained (injuries) and struggle to reclaim it. If that happened without injury/time off I'm sure it would be terrible.

Personally I noticed a big difference in strength, and a nominal difference in size. Kept the size, lost a little bit of the strength.

I'd say the drugs I dont want to do...
Winstrol(mainly cholesterol issues- bad history of it since early age, under control now and I'm not going to **** with it that hard), Slin, and DNP.

Oh, I'll think about all of them. Ohhhh will I think...

I think I'll call it all quits if I start losing my hair. Thats where I draw the line. The men in my family have thin hair but never lose it(and no, the women havent lost it short of chemo), and losing what I've got wont help.

As a bodybuilding board addict I figured I would pop in the steroid forum and read the stickies.

This is one of the best things I have ever read on a board.

Thanks!

I thought these posts are great......need more of the same.
As for myself I have done the research and planned my work, but have not yet done a cycle. I have done everything grey market but not able to find gear in my area.... anyways.... I think to the most part that people get into something without looking at all possible setbacks and just jump into their ambitions head first which can be hazardous to all things they care about. Keep up the good posts.

Very good post!! When I was 17 years old I started gear.At that point I was a pro wrestler travelling all over the world I told myself I will only do a couple of cycles until I get to where I want to be.
Well guys I am 31 years old now and still juicing.I do often try to visualize a stopping point in my head and try to stick to it but not happened yet!!!
I suggest you follow the above post to a T!!!
