I'd recommend Serious Mass by Optimum Nutrition for the weight gainer.

I'm staying away from weight gainer.
I started out with it, then I discovered the high sugar content.
I'm sticking to real food, bars and soy protein.

I agree with the others that whole food is the best but N'Large is a decent weight gainer as well.

How can you be too busy to make some sandwiches, but not too busy to make a shake?

dude, lol, whats the big deal, if he says he's too busy maybe he is. i can see where he's coming from.

The big deal is that relying on shakes/weight gainers for food can be unhealthy, as well as expensive.
The big deal is the assumption that there is a magic pill or powder out there that will turn you into a hulking adonis in 12 weeks.
The big deal is that being 'too busy' is an excuse. And coming up for excuses for why you can't eat isn't far removed from coming up for excuses why you can't train.
It's a big deal because I'm trying to determine if I should take wantbiggerarms seriously, and spend time trying to help him, or if I should move on to someone who is really willing to work hard to get where they eant to go.

Sandwiches taste like ass =(
But listen to pauly make food rather then supps. It is much better for you and your wallet in the long run. BTW if you don't have time to make simple food then BB or gaining mass is not for you. There is no easy way out. MAKE TIME!

man, you need to understand i am in college, i have time to eat maybe 2 meals a day, they dont serve as many meals in a day that you are talking about, i cant just make a sandwich, if it were that easy i would say fine, i have the time to train yes, but there simply isnt any way i can eat like you are talking about, yes i would love to, but i cant

shakes and WGs are pretty comparable to some foods, for example steak-

I go to University in Computer Engineering. I have like 40 hours a week plus countless hours of work. I have 3 quizes a week + 2 3 hour labs. Yet I still find time. Trust me make the commitment and you will find the time and the method. Does not need to be sandwiches. It can be any food really. A good calorie filler is PB. A jar to PB goes a long way.

btw, sandwiches are the shizzle *bashes kneecap*
and if your not gonna eat more, dont expect to get bigger............maybe you should wait a few years, because thats what you have to do son-

lol i love reading paul's replies.
my advice to wantbiggerarms...
dont ever say CANT, instead ask HOW CAN I?
and its simple..i too am in college, but still find time to wake up 15 minutes earlier or stay up 20 minutes later to prepare food for the next day. ziploc bags and tupperware are a necessity. make a roast beef sandwich on wheat bread and zip it up and throw it in the backpack. takes the same amount of time as a weight gainer shake and costs less, and has more nutrients. pack some fruit and take it with ya. even a disgusting protein bar if ya have to. but dont rely on supplements. just use whey protein for after your workout. store some tuna in tupperware and eat it inbetween classes. easy cheap protein.
as far as weight gainers go. I buy Nlarge by prolab on occasion. i hate relying on supps because sure they ae full of protein, but no vitamins or minerals that a whole meal should be.

Weight gainers also contain huge amounts of sugar which in the end just make me even more hungry. Save the weight gainers and whey for postworkout.

I would say that the muscle rags with all the ads have much to do with this, as you very well know I'm sure.

yes i understand what you are saying, but i also see where the guy is coming from because i'm in college too and i have the same problems. especially when you don't have a car and can't get to a grocery store on a regular basis, and food that is in the cafeteria is not a good option.

I go to college too and work part time.
I have to agree, it's not easy.
It's tough.
Students don't sleep much.
Here is my personal day
I wake up eat a quick breakfest(only cause I FORCEFULLY make time for it), go to class and eat after the classes are over and go to home. By then it's night time and I eat dinner After that I study or do homework, then lift and sleep.
The day repeats.
As much as I would like to eat in class, people get pissed and I get kicked out of class.
I can understand their difficulties.
Eating bars and sandwhiches do help between classes though.
If you say there is no such thing as "no time to eat" then you aren't a busy person. IMO:D

I've been in college for 4 years. I don't know how many units you are taking, but I have ample time to make meals, let alone sandwiches. What exactly do you do all day that you can't sit down in the morning and make like 6 sandwiches.
Seriously, college isn't that time consuming that you can train and can't eat. Due to the high sugar content in weight gainers, I honestly wouldn't recommend them any other time but post workout.
And before you go off on maybe I'm not in a busy major, I'm a biology and computer engineering double major who has 20 unit quarters (which is the max). Don't have time to make a sandwich during the day? Make it the night before. I commute to school, so when I have an 8am class and more classes throughout the day, I make 4-5 of my meals the night before and pack it up to bring to school.
Trust me, there's time somewhere in your day.

I like HDT's Solid gains. If you are taking a gainer in replace of a meal, make sure it has a blend of proteins rather than just whey. And watch for sugar content, as alot of gainers are all sugar.
Food gets expensive too, when you have to eat out alot, sometimes a shake is a much cheaper source of cals than buying real food. But, 2 meals a day will NOT cut it either, there has to be a way to get another meal or 2 in somewhere during the day.

Yes, a weight gainer AND a protein can is a great way to increase your bodyweight, but donīt forget to eat food too !?! ;)
The powder is only a supplement to your ordinary daily diet and is not going to work as 'a wonder stuff'.
Plan your meals 6-8 times a day, eating every 2 hrs or 3 hrs. And include a weight gainer shake twice every day and 2 protein shakes above that and you WILL gain weight aka 'mass'.
..................just my two cents.....................:D
