whats up everyone. followed a link from another board, figured ide see whats up.
for those who dont know me from other boards, heres a brief history of my lifting.
im 19 years old, 5'5, 225, too fat right now, started dieting a week ago to get under 198 for my first PL competition.
my measurements are:
right arm 18.4
right quad 28
waist-probably around 40, im a naturally thick guy, even at a reasonably low bodyfat my waiste measured 34-36
chest 48
calves 18, never work them, when i did they went up too 19.

ive been lifting for a year and 5 months roughly, had about 6 weeks off over this time, training lately has been "lackluster" too say the least, which gained me a bit of fat, but oh well. it was the holidays, and i dont get too see my good buddies often, so i dropped the wieghts and picked up the beers, trained once every 4 days for about a month, and before that, had too take a total of 3 out of 7 weeks off from getting sick. didnt lose any size, accually gained a little, but dominantly bad wieght. anyway heres a few pics from a couple weeks ago, let me know what you think.
pics taken a little over an hour after a work out.

backdoublebi, somewhat.

Yep, seen your pics at AR. Looking thick as hell. Considering that you've only been working out for 1.5 years I think you can become really massive a few years down the line.

thanks everyone.
as far as my "Crossing over" as of right now im just kind of flirting with the idea, if i do decide to do it, it wont be for afew years, when im not a junior anymore(over 23) hopefully, ile wait that long. i do have some natural goals, one being breaking the ontario junior powerlifting records, which i feel is definately possible.
thanks,
tank

as of right now, im taking a week off heavy lifting, and using glucosamine. i might just take a full week of the gym, do light work outs at home(dips inbetween chairs, daimond pushups, chin ups, ive also got some wieghts) because my body is kinda aching right now. lifting heavy all the time does a number on your body, especially at a calorie deficit.
as for my lifts, im comingoff an injury, and wasnt able to train legs for3 or 4 months, so i couldnt do deads iether. im juist starting back up again, and an still pull and squat 405 for reps. in competition(198 wieght class) i plan on totalling close too 950 lbs in total for deadlift and squat raw. for bench(if i can afford one) ile get a shirt and start training with it soon.raw i bench 275 for 6 and around 315 max(with pause) with a shirt im hoping to get anywere from 330-350
so if all goes well, my totals should be somewere around 1300.
thanks,
tank

ive always been a natrually thick guy, before i started working out i wieghed 165, which my doctor told me was ideal for my iheght and structure, so i was definately a naturally thick guy before i started working out.
why would you wiegh more after working out?all i can really say is eat. diet is extremely important. if your not gaining, your not eating enough, its that simple. count your calories, and keep raising them untill you start gaining.

chest-flat bar-only because im competing soon
135 x 6
185 x 6
225 single
275 x 5-6
max out if im maxing this week
225/negatives x 6

incline dumbell
60 x 10
80 x 6-10
100 x 5

followed by flat dumbell if i need a little more, if not i go right to cable cross overs then im done.

legs
squats-(just getting back after a few month lay off for legs)
135 x 6
225 x 6
315 x 6
405 x 6
225 x failure

walking lunges
4 sets last 2 almost failure

leg extensions superset with calve raises

arms
seated alternate curls
30's x 10
40's x 10
55-60's x 6
40's x failure

superset with
close grip bench
135 x 10
185 x 8
235 x 10
135 x 12

then light straight bar curls. i cant use alot of wieght because it absolutely kills my forearms. i use light wieght, maybe go up too 90 lbs total at the most, and use a wide grip, i started doing these too hit the inner head of the bicep, after no being able to curl a bar for so long due tothe pain, my outer head was alot more developed.
so anyway 4 sets of straight bar curls, then
tricep dumbell (overhead) extensions
60 x 10
80 x 10
100-110 x 10
60's x 10

last, pulldowns superset with any bicep exercise, i like to change it up, if i dont make it reverse curls, ile work forearms after.
thats it for arm day

back/shoulders

heavy deads
135 x 10
225 x 10
315 x 10
405 x whatever i can get, havent been able to do these due to the leg injury also

light lat pulldowns
4 sets

superset with cable rows
4 sets dont pay attention too wieght during these sets, more of a big warm up, get the pump goin

then i do t-bar rows

1 plate(45 lbs) x 12
2 paltes x 12
3 plates x 12
sometimes 4 plates
if not, 225 again x 12

superset with dumbell military press
60 x 10
70 x 10
100x 6
60's x almost failure

then its db shrugs, kinda light, i dont like going heavy
60's x 12
70's x 14
80's-90's x 16
60's x 12

superset with lateral raises
4 sets, light wieght, usually dont go over 25-30 lbs

then finish off with another variation of cable rows or barbell rows, along with front cable raises for front delts. and thats about it.

if you didnt notice the pattern in my training, i always reach my maximum intensity and wiehgt on the 3rd set, with low reps during my warm up sets. i fine alot of poeple do way too many warm up sets, burning themselves out by the time they get to thier max. as soon as i started lowering my warm up sets too 6-8 reps, and maxing out on my3rd set of just about every exercise, my strength really started to increase.
any other questions let me know
thanks,
tank

hey tankus what is your bodyfat percentage?

tankus
02-17-2003, 06:56 PM
thats a very good question. ide say low 20s, i dont think calipers would test me accurately, i used a hand held one and it said 20, then 35, then 16, so yeah i pretty much dismissed that as an unreliable means of testing!
in a couple months, after dieting down a bit, ile take shirtless pics when i go home. these were taken while my entire family was down for x-mas, so i didnt really feel like rippin it off.
too sum it all up, ive got a gut and a fat ass.:moon:

I train at the GoodLife in the Rideau Centre when I'm in O-town tho; you should come by sometime and kick my ass with your lifts. ;) (well, I ain't that far behind you actually but I have all the mechanical disadvantages. . .)

Cheers
