Is it really such a bad thing? Are there big health risks associated with sodium? I mean, unless you're prepping for a contest, or worried about water retention for some reason, is it really so bad?

It depends how high your intake is. Very high levels of salt may increase risk of hypertension, osteoporosis (via increased calcium loss), and stomach cancer. It may also adversly effect asthma, kidney stones, strokes, and ulcers. Note that many persons seem to be immune to these possible negative effects.

I've heard its not as bad as what it has been made out to be, as long as your not predisopsed to high blood pressure. I am not advoacting pouring it on. I used to really avoid it now I use it a little bit. I feel fine. Just my thoughts, no scientific basis.
