View Full Version : Ephedrine and cardio

I'm sure by now, you've all heard about Orioles pitcher Steve Bechler recently dying due to heat exhaustion. Guess what; they found a bottle of Ephedrine in his locker. No doubt there will be quite an uproar over this, I don't want to be the one to start it, but I do have a question:

Just recently, I've started taking an ECA stack, and wanted to get a general opinion on cardio and ECA. Does everyone try to get their cardio in later in the day->evening hours after they've had their last dosage, or do people just throw caution to the wind and do cardio whenever they feel like it( knowing that the risk is minimal)? I guess this might depend on how smart or foolish you are with your dosages, but I'd like to avoid dropping dead due to a miscalculation in timing ;-)

I'm not talking about running a marathon or anything, just say 20 mins of HIIT. I've not noticed that my heart rate has increased while on the stack, but occasionally I'll notice that my blood pressure seems to be higher( might be all in my mind, but as it is a known side effect there is likely some validity to it).

Anyway, thanks in advance for your opinions. Please remember I am neither advocating or slamming use of Ephedrine before you start flaming me either way. I'm currently taking the stack and will continue to do so for a period of time regardless of whether or not the lot of you call me nine kinds of idiot. Feel free to call me an idiot for asking something that has been asked before, but when doing so, please give me your opinion as well.

Wow, I actually just heard of Bechlers death from your post. Thats really too bad, though - he left behind a wife who is seven months pregnant. It seems they don't really know if he was even using the pills or what they were, so its impossible to say if ephedra had anything to do with his death. I'm sure more will come out after the autopsy.

But anyways, when I take an ECA stack, I do my cardio at normal times and don't worry about the possible interactions. My blood pressure and heart rate sometimes due feel slighty elevated when I'm taking it, but never anything I'm concerned about. Sometimes I do some fairly intesnse HIIT (heart rate near max), and ECA has never cause a problem. I took the usual dose, 20/200 ephedra/caffeine 3 times a day. Eventually I started taking 10/100 6 times a day to increase the effect throughout the day. Neither dosing gave me problems.

If you don't have any previous conditions and you are generally healthy, I would say ECA and cardio is perfectly safe. Hope that helps.

The only combination of things that freaked me out is taking an ECA and working legs on an empty stomach. Ill never do that again! ECA and cardio is fine though.

Yeah, I didn't touch upon it in my previous message, but it is definitely a shame that he and his wife (also 23) just married last year and were just about to have a kid. Pretty rotten actually.

Anyway, on a lighter note, thanks very much for the responses guys. Now begins a few months of systematic cardio. Gut and lovehandles beware!

one problem i've had w/ doing cardio w/ eca is that the eca makes u use strength more (since its a stimulant) and tires u out. like, for boxing, u tend to punch a lot harder, and u tire out faster. for jumprope, u tend u just a lot higher b/c of th adrenaline rush. that mite be just me tho

Maybe I'm just a sicko, but Ephedra plus cardio plus heavy metal/hardcore/techno = one hell of a runners high! I can take my ECA and listen to Static-X and I get pumped as hell, so when I'm doing cardio, I feel as if I have some damn superpowers. My heartbeat doesn't go much higher either. I generally do cardio at 180 bpm, and the ECA doesn't change it.

I'll never do legs after taking EC again. I thought I was going to fall out the other day. I couldn't catch my breath. It was really hot in the gym too.

Well then it seems and EC/ECA is not a good idea for you.
