I figured i'd start up a journal since that pain in the ass pup keeps bugging me to start writing down all the information of my diet and training. We have 5 weeks til the first show. I'm sitting at 190 and ~5% bodyfat, 6 pack is poppin out.

We went to another gym today since ours was closed, fooled around with some back, triceps and biceps, then finished off with a lil ab work.

I'll make this a bit more formal after monday's session.

its 6 degrees here. the gym closed for remodeling today. i
took a three mile walk outside,bbbrrr.
if ther done with the gym tonight, pup and ill sneak in to pratice our routine.

1st meal- 1 cup of oats, brown sugar and 8 eggs
2nd meal- same as above
later meals will consit of tuna patty, oats, chicken,protein shake. if anything else will post it tomorrow.

I can't believe you actually walked today...i don't think i coulda tagged a supermodel in that weather.

Remember to bring your posing music, so we can try to work out the kinks in the timing of that rear lat spread.

For those who don't know, we're competing in Traverse City, MI and Petoskey, MI...the shows are april 5th and 26th respectively.

every friday i record weight and body fat. currently 190lbs and 5%.

normally one of the meal is chicken and im out right now.
gallon of water. will be upping it to gallon and half next week. last two weeks of march two gallons a day.

walked two miles before workout, tanned and another two miles after workout. temp. today alittle bit better, 10 degrees.

homeyield, ya that is my cardio. treadmills are ether full or broken. normally i would do a walk/run but thers to much ice out there.i dont mind doing it out side also cause im left alone, not bothered by anyone and its my thinking time. believe me after the show itll only be two miles a day.

Fangel- yup and i lik it. have tried it other ways but this works best for now till after the show,ill change it a little, not much.
im one of the very few at our gym in my shape.

bennettboy-in the last three yrs i havent let myself go over 200lbs a d 10%. i use to go about 210 in the winter and,uh at least 20%. then in the spring cut back. but from keeping it down like i have, ive beeb able to eat what i want.not say its the right way but it works for me. can easily get to 175 and lift the same weight. judges, comprtitors and people who know me tell me not to change a thing of what im doing.
ive been pretty lucky so far at shows.
1st place- masters nothern michigan b.b. championship
1st place- 175 middleweight class -northern mi. b.b. champ.
last show we did in nov.
1st place flint mi. masters class, and best legs
2nd place open class meduim tall. this class meant alot to me cause of all ages and from all over the state of mi.
i like weight classes much better than going by height.
also hold some state records in power lifting.
40-44 since 1998 still hold all 4. 2001 in 45-49 broke 3 of 4. someday ill get the other.

only supp. i take is creatine, gulti. and shakes. getting off the creatine till the week of the show.

Yep - freakin' scary strip set. Almost exactly like Belial's, actually - he starts with 20 plates plus 2 smaller ones (10's? 25's? Can't remember.) Sick about sums it up.

homeyield-haha-just think about the people loading and un loading the plates. that is a workout too.

my food intake is about the same everyday. if something changes, ill dot it. oh yeah, once a week is pizza night for my cheat day. shaddup pup and eat yo hotdogs.
drank a gallon and half of water today. hope i can maintain that.

swole- yup, doing a show april 5th and 25th. ill take a break from it during the summer and do another one in the fall. the one in april is by height. the one in the fall is by weight class which gives u a better chance i think. trying to tighten the loose skin at bottom plate. im really hyped upped for the show. i plan to be 4% and between 175 and 180lbs
song i picked out is cut like a knife by brian adams. the latter part of the song.

i thought for sure i blew my diet in janurary while visiting in vegas. i ate cheese cake evrynight and so much junk food. to top it off,missed my plane and had to stay another week and do it all over again.

i think it tastes pretty good. try it and let me know.
1 can alb. white tuna in water.(or yo choice,pup prefers oil)
3 egg whites
2 heaping spoonful of wheat germ( if u cant get it, get an all brand flake type ceral and take abig handful of it and crumble it up. reason for using these products cause it holds the patty together while cooking)
drain water from tuna, break up tuna into bowl,add eggs,wheat germ in and mix with hand. wash yo hands afterwards.
turn stove to med. spray pam into small teflon frying pan. add mix patty into pan and spread to about the size of a burger.cook, then flip it over.(i usually let it get to a light brown color before flipping it)
takes min. to make and maybe 5 min. to cook.

How many weeks out will you be in a week? Since I'm doing my first show I don't know alot LOL, but I was just wondering why the no protein drinks? Does that include 100% whey for right after workouts too?

hello bennitboy-ill be four weeks out. ihave one april 5th and 25th.yo gonna have fun at the show. u learn so much in the back talking and sharing info with each other. just remeber each show u do ull get better. thats what so neat about the show everyone is built different. doesnt mean the other guy better. just what the judges are looking for that night.
i dont care for height classes but have beaten guys that were 50-75 lbs heavier. i was just leaner and evenly poportion.
if yo diet is working i wouldnt change a thing. u see the last show in novemeber, that was the way i did it and it worked for me.after the next show if im happy with my stats ill try it again.
after april i plan to go between 10 and 15% b.f..
do u have yo music yet? trunks? got yo mandatory poses down yet? remeber the morning show is where u have to do yo best cause that is when they decide what. evening show is party time.

bennitboy- pup has a ways to go yet. he has no choice about dropping his cal. intake. him and i go round and round on this subject.
im usually already starting to eat just about every two hrs. three is to late. i usually go about 2500 to 3000 cal. a day. from here out till the show u can lift all u want not much gonna change un less u hit the cardio hard.
dont laugh, 46 but the shape im in. ull never guess it. everyone here at my gtm wants me to post pics. if i can find someone to help me with that, ill post them hopefully before the show and afterwards.

homeyield- believe me,i wanted to pound this guy head into his shorts, so when he was hungry he would have to drop his shorts to eat.

my abs are looking better. oost some weight there now have to tighten it up again.
**** went down at the gym while u were gone. im getting morer hrs and will be working later at night. shelly got the shaft though. ill explain later.

its 6am and waiting for my breakfast to get done cooking and decide to record measurement to keep track of how much if any changes after bulking this summer. im not sure how much or how long yet, ill decide then. if possible i lik to post some pictures of what i looked lik before ever starting to show changes i have made in myself.measurement are cold and relax

not a good day on workout. after eating had to go down state for a meeting then meet pup at one. didnt get there till after one thirty. hadnt eaten since 6am. all there was,was fast food chains on the way home. any other time i wouldnt had cared.popped a couple of ripped fuel and that didnt kick in till 3/4 ways thru theworkout. pup had a good day.

bennettboy- yeah those are my current. after doing chest and having a pump i manage to flex and hit 51. also measured pup today.
i dont exspect to go down on size anymore. just tighten some areas and hopefully down to 4%. ill keep ya posted on how it goes the next three weeks.
i do cardio everyday. thats probably why i get away with the cal. i eat.
hell yes i was hungry but thought i could pull it out. my own fault. next time ill grab a couple of protein bars and take them along just in case.

happy with the way my arms felt. didnt have time for evening cardio but did sit ups.

im looking at trying something new with my squat after the show. i know what i want to do but want to do a lockout type thing starting with the rack pin high and eventually drop to next hole as i can handle the weight. wondering about how much should i start with over my max. whom on the board might be able to help me on this.thanks.

Maybe one of the Westside guys (Paul Stagg, I think? And maybe Latman?) could advise you - I think that Westside does a lot of training of part of the movement. Maybe do a search on Westside and it will pop up some names for you.

4.7 right now and hoping to be at 4%. nah it just my cheat day. i try to keep an eye on it all week so im able to get away with it. im looking forward to bulking. maybe to a 10%, no more than a 15%and maybe 200lbs. from staying this lean ive lost 2 inches on my chest and 1 1/4off my arms. i want it back.

It is refreshing to me to see you are 2 weeks out and still having cheat days. Saw a guy in the gym yesterday and he is doing a show in 11 weeks. He said he was dying for a cheeseburger. My response was EAT IT. Maybe I'm wrong, but I simply can't believe having one cheat here and there can undo that much. Guess I'll find out soon enough though LOL. I intend to be strict, but I will have my cheat moments. Helps me keep sane and focused.

b.b.- i learned from my first show i did. 16 weeks of not cheating. ill never do it that way again. the thing is if u do it and feel good about it, its easy to get back on track.
i finally got pup to do a low carb and fat diet. once he gets where he wants then if he wants to raise his fat intake thats up to him. at the show ther looking for cuts and definition. size is nice but the guy thats ripped gonna win. its the over all package.
mistake - the show is april 5th ,3 weeks away. pup told me wrong. now u know why i dont agree with him all the time.

I see extra wide bench in lots of your chest workouts. Are you trying to isolate the chest (take the tris out of it)? How do you do them? (It sounds like it'd be hard on the shoulder joints...)

yeah trying to hit the very outside of the pecs. believe it or not it takes alot of stress off the shoulders.
we have one person at each end of the bar so after the lift u can go wider on the grip then they let go of the bar. when done, they grab the bar so u can move yo hands in so it doesnt get pinched then they rack it for u.

Monstar- thanks. my best is 325 bench, 530 d.l., and 475 squat. and all natural lik u.
when the show is over ill cycle the bench back up. the 275 is between 4 and 5 reps then shoot for 295 or 300 for2. most time over 300 is singles.
trying to be careful on my maxes right now. just before last show in nov. i got carried away with d.l. 455x5 and pulled a muscle and almost didnt get to do the show.
wish i was yo age and yo weight. yo got some awesome numbers too. good job.

usually i do them with someone. so whoever starts goes up first then the other goes down. easier on the loading and un loading. lazy i guess.
so if they go up first then ill go back down cause its loaded already. ill rest awhile and go back up then they go down.
then the following week i go first. by the time yo done everything off the sled.

bradley- i do conventional dead lifts.
we take a barbell and shove it in the corner of the squat rack and have someone step on it to hold it down.
the handle we use is a v shape handle u would use for narrow pull down or seated rows. so yo palm of hands would be facing each other. its not a very big handle though.

im eating the same way as before but now im having 6 ounces of carb every meal. mostly oats.

wide grip- on the outside of the last ring on the barbell. we usually have 2 spotters. one on each end of the bar so when u rack u dont pinch yo fingers. try it. hits the outside pec and easier on the shoulders.

flys- im not sure if its cause my pecs are thick or what. pup and i do more on incl. flys then most people here do flat d.b. presses.

im at 4.4 right now and plan to be 4 by this weekend for the show. also im not sure how much i can lift when i put the weight back on.never tried to see what i could do. beside im getting alot older. pup seems to think im gonna take off. we'll see.

yo pup- nope my back feels great. i purposely didnt hit the poses hard this week. remeber how sore i was when i did it last weekend. im saving it for the show this weekend so i can bust a nut from squeezing so hard.

pup and i did another whimpy ass workout. last one for the week. in a way it was kinda werid. everyone was able to keep up with us in the gym.
diet good. cut carbs out for the afternoon. will cut carbs down till friday. then friday cut the water way down and load the carbs till the show.

homeyield- ya it suppose to be 4%, but right now i do feel dead. sore and tired.

yo carolina girl- i had the heater set at 80 degrees that night. we had an ice storm that night with at least 1/8th in. thick of ice on the wind shield. then on the way we get dumped 8 in of snow.
u had yo window open? huh, the only time the window was open was on the way cause pup farted and the other time was when i was peeping over the balcony at the motel trying to write my name in the snow. bet u all cant do that down there.

ritzol- thanks for coming to the show. if ya go to petoskey dont forget the cheese cake. dont tell bennetboy how much pizza we ate. yup yo right what happens in t.c. stays.

now for the show- was very disapointed in the show. they didnt have all the awards that was mentioned in the flyer. all the judges were were from the local gym that put the show on. they were not registered with any federation. they did a random drug test and lucky me got to go which was cool but there were a few other that should have went beside me. they skipped the posing routine with yo song in the morning which counts for 1/3 of your point totals.
pup and i knew in the begining it was gonna be tough going to a show that was know for keeping the trophy's home.
3/4 of the winners that night were from that gym(dam pup to bad we dont have a memebership there).
the guy in pup class that took first was awesome and did take over all.
mens master i took 2nd. that was a close one. it was ether first or 2nd there.
men tall, i just made the cut off for that. we figuired 2nd or third there but end up taking 4th there. wasnt very happy about that at all.
looking forward to the petoskey show where everyone will be tested,no local judges and is registered with the federation.

will see how i feel tomorrow for the work out. if feeling good will put it.

yo alexr- the stack at this gym only goes to 250 also. i use to take the longer pins from other machines to hold plates on but people were complaining that i was hogging the pins and bending them.
so a good friend made me a bar with two brackets that sets over the stack. it sticks out both side about 8 inches. fits on stack real nicely.
i try to put same amount on both side to keep it balanced.
wont be to long before they start complaining about the cable.

ive been at it about ten yrs. didnt start getting serious until five yrs ago. decide this is what i wanted to do. u can always buy a new car but yo body if u want to keep it, yo gotta take care of it. u dont get another one.

yo monstar-the 140 I did I had a slight arch in my back. I planned on doing a one rep max starting next week, and jumping each week after. I read a while back Chris Mason wanted people to do a one rep max curl. So I plan on working on it.

back went pretty good. tried not to push to the limit cause of one more week till the show. was gonna do regular barbell rows but my fore arm bothered me so i did them reverse. wasnt as bad.

no time for cardio but did sit ups.

yo alexr-i keep straight up. my traps stick up pretty good when im doing them. ive tried it the way yo talking about with my head down but dont get the same feeling.
i should mention that when i do them, i do 5 reps narrow grip then 5 reps wide grip back to back.

yo monhstar- thanks. did those reverse grip u do. i lik them. i cant go to much heavier till the forearm heals. certain exc. effect it more than other.
also talked a guy who has world records in power lifting. he seems to think with the narrower grip yo using mostly tris and if the narrow grip seems to work dont change it. we talked about it and yo and sat. fever are right about doing tris exerise because ur style of benching.
in a couple of weeks some friends of mine will be coming up to workout. ill ask them about it. they know what ther doing, ther totals are over 2100 and are in the usa powerlifting records

Once you slap on some weight you should compete in a powerlifting event, even if its just for fun. I would imagine you would do well. I take it you work at a gym? How large is it (member wise and equipment wise)?

yo bradley-work at the gym. ya i do but it really to my advantage. i work about 4 hrs a night. as soon as i get there i do my workout. with doing that and talking to everyone it takes up an hour and a half. i do the general cleaning then lock up. pretty easy work.
i use to manage it 3 yrs ago. i went thru a divorce and decide to go out west. now im back again. ill head back out again someday. im tired of the snow and cold weather.
the gym is about 2500sq ft. theres two sides. half is free weights and other machines and cardio equipment.
the free weights cost 17.00 a month and the machines/cardio is 8.00 a momth, or 25.00 for both.
the machines/cables are icar. equip.. the free weight side is all icar. benches. free weight side has about 100 memebers and the machine/cardio side has about 400 memebers. big difference.
it really is a nice setup for the small town we are. not big enough for grits yet.

yo monstar-thanks. the wide grip barbell is done to the forehead but the narrow grip preacher bar is done past the forehead. all is done in good form. i didn't want you to think i was doing the narrow grip to the forehead. also when i am doing the wide grip my middle finger is on the outside ring of the bar.

ok.... right click on your picture that's on the disk... then go to "send to"... then my documents.. or wherever you wanna save it. Then once that's done, and you're ready to post down at the bottom of the reply box here where it says attach file... to the right click on browse. then u can upload it from where u have it saved on your comp.

Wow...what a weekend.

The big girl *aka ybw* looked really damned good this time, but unfortunately the judges were teh suck and didn't realize the greatness that is the wall.

I'll let ybw tell you how he placed and all of that, but he looked spectacular and has very much deserved the year off, good job homie, i'm proud of you :dj:

yo bradley- the posing trunks went very well at the night show. while waiting in the back room i stood next to the biggest black guy there and anytime someone would look my way, i would say who the **** u looking at me or him (jokingly). everyone thought it was awesome(excceptme).

yo carolina girl- pup put some pics for me. they were taken awhile back but just got them. ill write later tonight about the contest. gotta go to town right now.
