I did a search on this without much luck. In the event that you receive a seizure letter, what happens after that? Do you have to go to court, pay a fine, or do they just seize your package?

They just seize the package. You can choose to argue it if you want, but all you need to do is ignore it. Trash the letter and relax.

Thanks for the info!

After a package is siezed, are all of your incoming packages or whatever somehow monitored specially, like is there a red flag on your shipping address after that?

I don't think they really have the resources to monitor individual recipients. They might put the shipper on some list or database, but I can't see them doing it for each recipient.

Well, after having that sent to your addy, I'd STRONGLY recommend getting a p.o. box somewhere at a small "ma & pop" mailbox place.

Yup. Your name is flagged, and everything goin your direction is scrutinized rather carefully. Then it's time to get creative.

Just dont answer the letter, they are trying to prove that the package its yours, then they can bust you.

Would something happen to you if you didn't answer the letter? Something like getting a "bench warrent" if you fail to pay for a traffic ticket?

No, I havn't heard of anyone having to go through that.
Just forget it, you will be fine.
I just shipped something to canada (I AM NOT A SOURCE!) and they opened it, (must be a random thing) and because they could not identify the liquid (peanut oil) they sent it back to me. no biggie.

hth,
Hugh

They can't fine you unless they can prove you ordered the product. Remember the book clubs and record clubs that used to send unsolicited books/records to your home and then bill you for it. It was so bad they passed a law that said if you received an unsolicited package, you could keep it for free.
Anyway, a package being mailed to your residence IS NOT prima facia evidence that you ordered or requested the package. If it was, you or I could order illegal prescriptions and have them sent to our enemies, then notify the local authorities that they were going to receive illegal drugs. Bang, all our enemies are in jail.
However, renting a PO box, when you have a legitmate address, can be used against you in court as proof of intent to receive illegal packages in the same way that having a radar detector in your car can be used to show intent to speed.

Ultimately, this is all a game. A risky and sometimes dangerous game, but a game just the same. Our best defense is to know the rules and play accordingly.
