What amount of protein would you say the body can absorb per serving. I was curious when i had my post workout shake and tuna and realized that i was taking in about 100g of protein. Is there a certain amount that the body cant handle and thus excrete out? I'm 6'1 168lbs

thanks

I would say the same thing...but I think absorbtion rate of protein would depend on the person. I'd say though about 25 - 35 grams a meal would be pretty sufficient.

There is really no set amount it all depend all your body. The general number that I have been hearing for optimal absorbtion is about 50grams per sitting, but there are too many variables to even calculate. Basicially I just try to get about 1 -1.5gram per pound of BW. Spread between 6 meals it is about 40grams. Although post workout you body would generally use more than any other time of the day.

There's no fixed amount your body can absorb per sitting. What people are talking about on other threads is the amount that your body can use, and i think by using they mean using to build muscle. Just try to spred it out in equal doses over whaterer meals you're doing per days. There's nothing worng with a high intake around your workout, but I think it would be much better to get at least a third of that pre workout so there's some aminoacids in the blood as you are training.
