is it constructive to do cardio after lifting, or is it something that should not be done?

Depends on your goals.

I do cardio after lifting. It fits in my schedule.

IMO, doing it before is a bad idea, as you want to be able to give lifting max effort, and doing cardio first will tire you out. As well as deplete carb stores. I think on a seperate day would be best but if it fits then do it after.

If I do them on the same day, I do cardio first. It helps get me warmed up and gets the blood pumping. Not only that, but I'm WAY too exhausted to do cardio after lifting. I barely have enough energy to drink my protein shake and drive home.

I do cardio before weightlifting. It warms my muscles up.

I agree with smalls. I used to do cardio before lifting and it really hurt my performance. Now I do 5 minutes on a bike or stepper to get warmed up and save my cardio for off days or after workouts.

I do it on non lifting days. I'm thinking that if I had to do it around my workout, then I'd do 10-15 min before and 15-20 min after. Get a little warmup in and still end up getting 25-30 min total cardio...I'd definitely be sipping a carb/protein shake during my post workout cardio. Sometimes I lift at lunch and do a 30 min cardio in the evening.

I could never do cardio before lifting, Im shot as it is after a few sets. I'll do like 7-10 light minutes to warm up before lifting then like yesterday, I hit the bike for 30 minutes after I finished lifting.

I do after. Only if I have the energy this could not be done on leg or back day. I just try to get in at least 4 days a week thats the goal.

do it after you lift. your glycogen stores will be depleted and you'll be more likely to burn fat when you do your cardio instead of burning excess carbs
