lmao narc

swole westside was awesome, its great for strength, but i idnt care how it was "shaping" me. i look forward to doing it again, maybe in another few months. it put something like 80 lbs on my bench in less than 6 months.

Damn MrWebb, 295 for 9 reps on the bench is awesome. Do you have any idea what you max is on bench? You have to be at 405 right?

I agree with HomeYield though, maybe do your heaviest sets first. Do some warmups, and then go straight to your heaviest set. Youll be impressed with how much stronger you are.

MrWebb78
03-14-2003, 01:06 PM
to be honest im still getting the feel back now that im benching this way again, as opposed to the westside style that was all tricep and no chest work. my max that way was 390, i havent maxed yet since ive been back to a wider grip.

so actually i thought i was going heavy and just sorta surprised myself. i dont usually work in the higher rep range like this, but just experimenting

MrWebb78
03-14-2003, 07:06 PM
sleep:10 hours, i know I'm a bum

diet: terrible in the morning(reflected in workout), got/getting better as day progress'

Leg Day
Leg Extensions
240x12/250x10/single leg 140x8 each leg

Squats
135x10/295x10/325x9/365x8

Hack Squat Machine
315x8(back cramped so only did 1 set)

Seated Leg Curl
225x10/245x9/245x8

Standing Calf Raises
500x14x3

not a bad day. epidural I received on monday had no effect and my back is back to hurting pretty bad, tried to not let it hold me back too much.

going to start doing heavier sets first, still somewhat experimenting. damn near threw up after squats, usually the sign im eating like ****. need to hurry up and get back on track before I start looking like Belial:)

Narcissus
03-16-2003, 08:51 PM
mrwebb, 2 questions:

what is the chest supported vertical row? is that the t-bar type machine that you lay out on, with a pad supporting your torso?

which handle do you use for the underhand tricep push-downs? i notice that with the straight handle, it hurts my wrist, and with the cambered handle (ez-bar type), there is no pain. well, with the straight handle, i think it is more than i have alot of trouble keeping my grip than my wrist hurting.

btw, if you look over in anabolic zone, in the winstrol thread, i posted my cycle i just began :D

MrWebb78
03-16-2003, 09:03 PM
the verticle row is just a machine ya sit at, chest supported, and pull the handles towards ya. dont know how much better to explain it, but its not the t-bar one yer describing.

i actually used both handles for the underhand grip, the ez bar didnt hurt but it was hard as hell to hang onto it. so for my last set i switched to the stright bar and it hurt my wrist. maybe im just a pussy huh:)

Narcissus
03-16-2003, 09:06 PM
hmm...i think that machine is the same as the biangular row. not sure.

about you being a pussy - that sounds like the most likely explanation to me.

BB decline

Bi's

M3: large chicken boob, 1.5 cups brown rice(cooked), steamed brocoli, 4 strawberries

lol

On the dumb. shoulder press I would go with the heavier weight first. Since you got five after performing 2 sets previously I would imagine that you would be able to get more than 5 reps with the 90's if you worked with those on your first set.

If your lower back is bothering you, skip the deadlifts and anything that aggravates it. I messed mine up in my early 20s and I still feel it to this day.

MrWebb78
03-18-2003, 07:17 PM
Bradley: I agree, I'm still experimenting a bit and trying to break the old school mindset I used to have of working up to the havier sets. but i appreciate the tip, seems to be the popular opinion

rookie: sex is a stronger tranquilizer than valium

chris: I should smarten up and skip them, but I hate the idea of my back condition winning. its not like the pain ever subsides, its herniated discs, not a pulled muscle. but i think i will lay off it for awhile to see if the inflammation goes away. howd you mess up yer back? and what exactly is wrong? mine was a car accident last year.

Dood.

See a doc or a chiro.

My chiro took me from lying on a couch groaning to squatting and pulling in a couple of months.

Today I'm virtually pain free.

Regardless, if it hurts, don't do it. Keeping yourself healthy is far more important than deadlifting in your next workout.

MrWebb78
03-18-2003, 07:42 PM
i am seein a doc every month, so far for treatment ive received 2 steroid epidurals, same thing as cortizone?? anyways, that was a week ago, and i have a 3rd one scheduled, i guess the next step is facet joint injections, which i hear have a pretty decent success percentage. at any rate i know i shouldnt be doing deads, im just bullheaded sometimes.

MrWebb78
03-19-2003, 09:02 AM
not yet, im in the middle of a lawsuit, so all of my appointments, and treatments takes awhile to actually get accepted from the insurance. i think i need to be referred to a chiro thru my doctor, not 100% sure how that would work, but ive been told recently, now a couple times, that i should look into it. but dont wanna pay for it outta my pocket, ill ask my attorney and doctor about how to go thru the insurance.

rest day today....blah

barely sore in my chest today from my lack of a decent workout.

gunna pig out on lotsa junk food probably, full day of studying and homework ahead. have bowling tonight, see who wants to throw the ball harder than me this week, noone compares.

M1:bowl of oats, bowl of raisin bran, 5 prunes(jesus can anyone say fiber!), salmon, sausage + cheese omelette
M2:French dip, fries, salad(no dressing) from the diner at the corner
M3: leftover steak from dinner, brocoli, big can of yams. glass of v8 fruit splash
M4: other half of th whole chicken, apple and peanut butter, nutri grain bar
M5: probably a double grease burger from the bowling alley, maybe some nachos too
M6: 10 hard boiled egg whites, whey+milk shake, spoonful of PB

Paul Stagg
03-19-2003, 09:08 AM
Sounds like a plan. Based on my *very* rudimentary knowledge of back injury treatment, there are better ways to treat a back injury than what you've described.

In the meantime, I'd bag heavy pulling. Maybe do a little work at <60% of your max, and pull 5 or 6 singles just to keep your form and work on pulling speed, but even that might be more than you should really be doing at the moment.

MrWebb78
03-19-2003, 09:18 AM
i appreciate the tips, i think im going to smarten up a bit and take the advice.

chris mason

I hurt mine weightlifting. According to the chiro I went to, I too had a herniated disc in my lower back. I avoided the exercises that aggravated it long enough to allow it improve quite a bit. I then reintroduced squats, rows etc. Every time I would squat, it would get stiff for a few days, but it gradually improved to the point where it rarely bother me. Deadlifting heavy, as I have done as of late, does seem to make it unhappy, but not horribly so.

MrWebb78

not to play the "one up" game lol, but to run down the extent of my problems..

disc dessication in all 5 discs of lumbar(heriditary)
3 herniated discs, the middle 3 of the lumbar
schmorals node on one of the herniations
fortunately i have no pain shootin down my legs as of yet, so ill count my blessings.

also have a nerve impingement(spelling?) in my left shoulder, alone with a small rotator cuff tear, but causes no pain and will eventually need surgery, but as long as its not hurting im not going to emss with it.

i was wondering why your lying leg curl seems so weak compared to the amount of weight you are moving on other leg movements? is it because it bothers your back?

or bunches your panties up into your tampon? or what?

MrWebb78
03-27-2003, 09:54 AM
wel i usually admit to laziness, this actually was a mishap. happens occasionally with a training partner. his work truck broke down out of town, and he wasnt going to be back in time for a workout before my bowling league. there i made an excuse!

actually i wasnt all that shookup about missing a day, cuz i actually was feeling kinda lazy.

Shoulders and forearms? Why the combination, may I ask?

MrWebb78
03-28-2003, 01:37 PM
absolutely no logic behind it whatsoever actually. i think, because i like training shoulder by themselves, but that would lead to about a 15 minute workout, and since i havent done forearms during the week at this point, i just throw them in.

split is like this
1-chest/bis
2-legs
3-rest
4-back/tris
5-shoulders/forearms
6-rest
7start over

im open to suggestions, always lookin to change things up, what would you suggest?

BCC
03-28-2003, 01:44 PM
Not knocking it, was just curious. Looks like a Yate's style split there in a sense. Forearms are far enough away from bi's that I suppose it's no worry. It's not my style of split, but personally I wouldn't change a thing.

did you have to bounce anybody?

speaking of which, tell me a good war story about beating up some punks at the club or bar or wherever you work

Narcissus
04-04-2003, 12:36 AM
not tonight, only about 25 people came. :( it was some private duke graduate students party. so lame. blah.

umm...good war story. well in the beginning of february, when 50cent came to the club (i was his personal security along with his own 2 guys when he was there), this one guy threw a beer bottle into the crowd that hit a girl in the face. luckily it didn't break.

anyways, i grabbed him by his arm and yanked him and started pulling him towards the "rear exit" of the club. well, he decided he had enough liquid courage that right before we got to the stairs, he turned around with his arms cocked ready to hit me.

i put one paw on his throat, and grabbed his belt with the other one, and tossed him down the stairs. he caught the last third of the staircase. ouch.

as i was standing there chuckling to myself, a police officer came up and stood next to me as we both stood there looking at the guy. well, finally he got himself to his feet, and had blood pouring out of his mouth (and apparently from his ears and nose also), and looked all mangled. anyways, when he got to his feet, he looked up and started yelling at me, something like "you can't do that sh!t dog! that's assault! you're fukkin going to jail! i'm gon' sue you! you're fukkin going to jail."

well, somewhat baffled, i looked over at the policeman standing next to me. he looks down at the guy and says probably the funniest thing i have ever heard a cop say: "Looks like you tripped to me." i started cracking up as i walked down the stairs, and when i got to a few stairs above the guy, i kicked him in his sternum and sent him back into the wall behind him. i picked him up in a full nelson, used his face to open the rear door, and made him intimate with the pavement.

the end.

MrWebb78

Narcissus

he is definitely not a munchkin. he looked to be about 5'10, and maybe 180-185lbs or so. (185-190lbs if you include his necklace. goddamn.)

now, you want to hear about munchkins? usher, nelly, ludacris, sisqo - those are munchkins. none of them is over 5'5.

edit: one more thing, while we are on the subject of that night - both his guys had bulletproof vests on, i didn't. talk about being nervous. i kept thinking to myself, "i wonder if these guys know something i don't."

JHolmes145
04-04-2003, 01:00 AM
yea i can never tell ne more, i was under the impression luda was tall but snoop also looks like hes 7 ft, i think its funny how 50 jus does abs and chest in his video for in the club, do some wheels man!also dont forget ja rule 4 ur list of the "hard gainer" rappers

JHolmes145

Narcissus
04-04-2003, 01:04 AM
well, ja rule would probably be in there, but all the guys i mentioned i have personally done security for.

he wasn't shot in a club. from what i understand he was shot 9 times while sitting in the passenger seat of a friends jeep cherokee. 2 bullets hit him in the face, and the other 7 went into his thighs. at least, that is what i recall his manager saying to me.

webb: what were you taking into account when you were visually estimating your BF? i mean, 22 sounds pretty accurate, much more so than my originally guessed 20. ( lol ). so, although so many people have put me in the upper 20, to 30 range (which, i think, some of the people wrote because they are offended by my posts), i am in agreement with you that i do not look or feel fat, and certainly not obese. (not to mention how baggy the shirt is i am wearing and how much water i am holding). i guess the easiest thing would be to get a dunk test, but i am too cryptic to do that. so, want to give me some pointers?

edit: i recall seeing somewhere, or alex telling me, that your name was matt also - figures!

MrWebb78
04-05-2003, 10:06 AM
indeed my name is matt, as im sure you know, the meaning of the name is :gift of God.

as for the bf%, when i weighed 250, i did 3 different tests, i did a test at the gym where you hold some ting out in front of you, with both hands, and it calculates your bf(i dont know what its called or how it works), i also did 2 different bodyfat calculators by putting in your weight and measurements and it figures an estimate on bodyfat, all 3 tests came out to be between 17-19% bodyfat. since then ive gained 40 lbs and ive added just a little bit of fat, not a whole lot, so i just try to ive gained anywhere from 3-5% more fat(9-12 lbs).

ill try and get a topless pic eventually for everyone else to guess, but the bad part is, i carryall my fat in my midsection. my legs are pretty solid and lean, my arms have minimal fat, but(like my measurements showed) my stomach sticks out more than my waist. i have some love handles, but nothin that bad, what i can deal with anyways.

:( I feel somewhat for you, that's exactly where I keep all mine as well. However, you have 150lbs on me so... despite where my fat will accumulate again, it's time to bulk and say hello to those love handles.

MrWebb78
04-08-2003, 08:19 PM
well im still experimenting, but right now im using 'standing, behind the back', i like this exercise, but cant quite nail down the right rep scheme, so far just going to failure even up to 20 reps seems to be working, my forearms have finally started growing the last couple months

Narcissus
04-08-2003, 08:32 PM
webb: if you really want to get your forearms to grow, the best thing to do is to superset the behind-the-back wrist curls with overhand barbell curls. these will absolutely wreck your brachioradialis, and you will notice a big difference relatively quickly. i have had to stop training my forearms because i feel they are getting too big, and detracting from my upper arms. they are about 17 inches right now.

I have also seen people load up to go boxes from buffets. They ask for some boxes for what is left on their plate and then go directly back to the buffett and load up. You have a daughter?? Damn, fool!

Yellow belt. I made it to red/black belt in Tae Kwondo, and that when I was a fat, stupid, unmotivated sack of ****. How old is your daughter anyways?

Wasted workout...that sucks. I really hate that ****. Whenever I go to the gym and I go through two movements and I feel a wasted workout coming on I pack my **** and go home. I'll wake up early the next day to do it instead of being up late at the gym getting no work done. **** that ****.
Then I'm all wound up and I cant sleep...screw that. screw it in the FACE!

my girlfriend has a daughter, shes 7, but ive pretty much been her dad for the past 5 years, i should stop being stubborn and just marry her. shes doing KenPo. i dont know the difference between all the arts, she just wanted to take one so we put her in.

i shoulda packed up my crap, i hate working out in the mornings. im never energized. but playoffs start today, so i had to be home and get the workout outta the way.

What are you weighing in at these days Webb? Squats are impressive, especially given your bad back.

MrWebb78
04-19-2003, 04:54 PM
my last weigh in was on the 10th, i weighed 292, hopefully 295 by now, but i try not to weigh in too often, gets discouraging if its not in my favor.

surprisingly squats dont hurt my back like i thought they would, ive only been doing them for about 8 months or so, i used to just do leg press for quads.

i only do deads on days i feel good, which i still dont know why i did them today, but those are the ones i have to be really careful with.

I had a debate when I first posted that as to whether or not I should quote you, for fear of being mistaken.

So I quoted you, figuring that you'd know I was talking to you.
