ok, this is a sport I never quite understood. If any of you girls have played, maybe you can help me out a bit.
Why dont girls just play baseball???

The ball is not hard...
If you get hit by one of these "soft" balls it doesn't hurt as much. Both because it is "soft" and it does not travel very fast... I figure girls play it cuz it's easier (ball is slower) and there is less chance of injury. That and they are less well co-ordinated.... well I take the last one back hehe

some of the girls whip that ball towards the plate pretty damn hard. couple years ago some guys on the football team at U of M tried getting a hit off the pitcher for the U of M softball team and they got dusted LOL

those balls hurt!! they arent soft.
they are softer.. but not soft
i got hit in the arm once during practice. i was pitching to someone.. and they hit the ball straight into my arm
and damn that hurt
it left a big bruise too

did it leave seam marks on ya? haven't really been hit until ya get some seam marks imprinted in your skin..........

why not just play with a tennis ball?

Put a true baseball player at the plate in a softball game he will be able to smoke them.

As for it being soft that is why the quotations are there :) "soft" as in softer. Get hit in the arm by a real baseball and you will see what I mean. A soft ball is just that, soft! I don't even want to know what would happen if you got hit in the head with a baseball... My friend got hit in the head with a golf ball and he friggen got knocked out.
