Okay folks... next week I will be going on the grand California roadtrip, from Seattle down through San Fran, San Louis Obispo, LA, and wherever in between.
What are some great roadtrip CD's??

The best CDs for roadtrips are custom ones IMO. Take a bunch of your favorite songs and burn em to a CD. When I went to Ozzfest a couple years back I made a CD with songs from all the bands I liked to get all geared up. Good times. :)

this may seem like a repeat of 'best album' commentary
but get "Live Between Us" by the tragically hip
great road music
also good:
- "Riff Rock High" a compilation album of classic riff rock hits
- Soundtrack for Desperado
- MTV Unplugged Collection - The one with Stevie Ray Vaughn Clapton, etc, etc... a real mixed bag of unplugged songs but a nice mix

Something with a fast beat.
GIS, if you're going with a group of friends ask them each to pick 2-3 songs, then make a mix of all those songs together. That's how I've come up with my coast trip mix for each year. The mixes have become "collectors items" amongst my friends. They're so eclectic it's great.

Whatever music you're into, buy some discs. I'd recommend Tragically Hip, Pearl Jam, etc etc

Obviously mix discs...
Hm... Some straight up albums:
Chili Peppers - Californication
Megadeth - Cryptic Writings
Garbage - Beautiful Garbage
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine (is there nothing this album isn't good for? I thought not).
The Crow Soundtrack
Stabbing Westward - Self Titled
The Blues Brothers 2000 Soundtrack
Just a few that I can see from where I'm sitting.

'touristy'? haha, what's a touristy song.
We're going down just for the hell of it. We all need to go somewhere warm and we're tired of school, plus we know people all over cali so it will be a fun and inexpensive vacation.
