A friend of mine (more hawkish than I) recently said "People don't understand that being a citizen means you are part of a team. A team that has their life's length and quality determined by how that team operates." Now, this seems relatively true. Does that mean it is moral to further our length and quality of the American life to a very small degree (I don't think anyone expects cheaper oil to be a massive step forward, only a small benefit) at the expense of another countries resources and people? Also, is it more moral to do it if we have another reason to do so? Saddam being a despot, does that make it a better reason for us to go into Iraq and "liberate" it?

I am not quite sure whether it is the moral thing to do. The US has supported bad governments before, so I doubt that this war will be a "good" war, but then again, if there is a good benefit, does that make it worth while and "good"?
