Umm just wanted to start posting a journal becasue some guy (Mystic Eric) was uttering death threats and said he would do some wrestling moves on me if i didnt.

I am new to training. Started in about dec 2002, so its jsut been over 4 months now. Started at 195lbs and am at 209lbs this week. I am on a bulking cycle right now and prob will till 225lbs unless i am gaining too much fat.

Today is a rest day ... but yesterday i had a good back day and ended the session with drop set of Db curls. My arms were really fatigued after... could barely hold up a phone, but it felt great!

Tommorow is legs .... I CANT WAIT!

Ya veet... after i saw how cool yours was i couldnt resist.

So i jsut got home from legs today and had a pretty good work out. heres how my lifts went:
BB squats (they were at least parellel)

8x315lbs (pretty happy, did a coupple more reps than last week)

Leg press
6plates 45lbs+ 30lbs on each sidex8
" " " x6
6plates 45lbs+10lbs each side x8

super setted stiff leg dead lifts & hamstring curls

Monstar.... i am pretty impressed wtih your strength!
Umm i got past parellel that is for sure.

(i am not down with quater squats)

Mystic Eric
03-20-2003, 03:10 AM

Vido
03-27-2003, 02:04 AM
Damn, you're squat's going up fast! Good job man! People at the pool are probably shocked to see anyone lift that much weight, considering you're one of maybe 5 people who do squats at that gym in the first place.

What's with the 40 lber for calves though?

Manveet
03-27-2003, 06:23 PM
Awesome squat strength. Db's for the calve raises might seem a little light. I'd move up, but not too much you wanna make sure you get a good contraction.

Hercule
03-27-2003, 06:30 PM
Dang man, your freakin strong. YOur squats are awesome man. I will be checkin in your journal more often. Keep up the good work:thumbup:

Clark Kent
03-27-2003, 11:32 PM

I hate you and we'll NEVARRRRR train together!!!! :evillaugh

But dude, wtf, why do you close grip more than you bench??

Clark Kent
03-28-2003, 12:33 AM
haha .... umm good question ... i ve jsut always done close grip bench(well i thoguth it was a wide grip) on my chest days, so i ended up doing teh same bench 2 tiems a week and recently you told me to widen my grip so that is working well now... haha i can now feel that my chest has been worked after chest days LOL

Manveet
03-28-2003, 11:59 AM
Ya my grip on my normal bench days is pretty close, but that's what I find most comfortable. Btw, we can probably start some form of HIIT pretty soon. My finals will be basically done by April 9, so we can get right into it after that if your schedule allows.

Mystic Eric
03-28-2003, 12:40 PM
*throws friendship with the two of you away*

Btw, bench press's main objective is to work the chest. So I still think you should take a wider grip manveet.

Clark Kent
03-31-2003, 03:35 PM
manveet- yea we will have to start hiit soon ... i am done at the pretty much the same time as you so jsut let me know when you are avaible to start.

Vido
04-02-2003, 04:07 PM
Awesome strength Dave, really impressive! After taking a brief look at your chest/shoulders workout, I can't help but notice that the flat flies seem quite disproportional to the rest of the lifts (on the low side). Is there a reason for this?

Also, when you gonna switch to I-Quest?

Clark Kent
04-02-2003, 07:50 PM
Vido... thanks for the kind comments .... umm i dunno what is up with the flat flies ... what would be proportional? ... i will go up next time and see how it feels... i might move to i quest next week i think. yea prob next week. you already have yours there right ?

Vido
04-02-2003, 08:03 PM
Well I don't know exactly what would be proportional, but I do know that I can't bench or incline db press as much as you, yet I do flat flies with 50's at the end of my workout (slowly and with good form). I'd say you could probably do 55's fairly easy, assuming you are getting a reasonable length of rest between sets.

...and yes I already have my membership to I-Quest.

Clark Kent
04-03-2003, 08:40 PM
ahh did legs today ... work out was allright but i was expecting it to be a bit better.

Single leg DB calve raises:

Mystic Eric
04-03-2003, 11:26 PM
Man wtf. 335 for 7???? Holy ****. That's so huge it's ridiculous. And how the hell does Jason go about doing 225 for 10 in his first time squatting?? I hate you assholes with good genetics!

Oh, and seriously, you gotta up the weight on those stiffies. 165 is so ridiculous for your strength. And what the hell is with the DB calve raises? 50 pounds????

Vido
04-04-2003, 07:26 PM
Why can't you do HIIT by yourself? On a side note, I did my first real session of interval sprinting outside today, and felt like I was going to die...don't expect a walk in the park, especially if you're in the shape I apparently am in :D.

Manveet
04-04-2003, 10:09 PM
Sprinting by yourself Mike? That's just no fun. Don't worry Dave my finals are next week (Tues and Wed). We can probably due a session as early as next thursday. Btw Vido, how did you organize your session? Like what intervals did you use and what kind of warm up cool down method?

Clark Kent
04-04-2003, 11:51 PM
YEa vido ... i would also like to know how you set up your session?

Vido

I didn't have a watch, so these times are all approximate.

5 min warm-up jog (could have been a bit longer)
10 10-sec sprints (after each sprint I just turned around and jogged very slowly back a little bit past where I began the sprint, turned around again, and repeated the process)
I didn't want to walk at all, but at this point my heart felt like it was going to pop out of my chest, so I began my cooldown with probably a 2 min walk. Then, I just jogged fairly slowly back home (probably another 5 min or so).

Now, being a couple of days later and my groin hurting like a biatch, I'd have to advise doing some stretching out afterwards as well. Also, I wouldn't put this too close to leg day either.

Clark Kent
04-08-2003, 12:57 AM

Havent posted in a good while but i have completed 3 cycles of HST in that time and have had great improvements.
I have jsut started to train again and am currently doing 2 full bodys workouts each week. I am not sure how this is going to work out but 2 days is as much as i can train right now. The progress is allright, hopefully i can still see some gains from this.

POST WHORE .... LOL .... well for results, off the top of my head i gained 1 inch in my arms, 16 to 17... in my bench i went from 255X5 to 275X5lbs, in my shoulders i wient from 75 to 85 for 5 reps, back got bigger and stronger but dont remember any numbers. For weight wise i started my first cycle at 205lbs but the 3rd cycle i was up at 213.... i think HST help me look more lean. I have pictures that should that i foresure gained some size too ... for the the first cycle my diet was crap so it didnt go over to well ... HST worked for me and i think the principales behind it are really good... make sure you add weight onto the next cycle...(progression and overload)
Those results were jsut off the top of my head so if you would like to know more let me know and i will try and remember.... Good luck with HST

wow, its been a while since i ve posted about my training ... since last post i have done a cycle of HST and am on my SD now ... i have about another 7 days of SD and than will start back up again ... i could not have been happier with how things went. My weight is a steady 217lbs now and was up to 221 at one point (started the cycle of HST at about 209, alot of the weight had to do with all the christmas dinners i think). I mentally feel a bit bigger (too lazy to make measurments) and also am forsure a bit fatter now but i can deal with it for now.

My strength has also jumped up quite abit... i have finally reached my goal of benching 315X2 (went for 1rm but surprised myself) Next goal will be 405. I dont know why it is so pleasing to bench this number but it is. Prob jsut a ego booster!!!

thats it for now, so hopefully this next cycle i will be able to keep track of my progress better
