everybody, thanks. yes, it is alot of food. i love to eat. so it works out well.

belial, yeah, the barbell rows dropset is definitely what killed me for the rest of the workout.

rookiebldr, i was actually going for 4 reps at 855, but just did not have it in me at the end of my back workout. i'll be sure to hit it for at least 4 next tuesday.

mrwebb, you do not stand a chance. my eating skills are unparalleled. tuttut

Amazing. My friends stood mouth agape at my eating 3500 calories a day.

It was amazing that I'd wake up in the middle of the night sometimes to have a shake that was something like 800 calories.

Anyways, I know what you mean with the extra 2 hours ****ing you up. I like to sleep from 7.5-8.5 hours, any more really messes me up. The worst is when you wake up and feel ok, like you could get up and all..but for some reason that little bastard inside of you just pulls you back into bed. Then you end up being groggy all day and you go to bed late and wake up in an alley covered in dry, crusted blood. The scary part is that the blood isnt yours.

God, I need a better wake-up strategy.

thanks, it takes quite a bit of time to type up though. luckily, my diet doesnt really change from one day to the next, except for the order, so i can basically just copy and paste.

and thanks about the funniness.

2 pages and like one posted workout, this journal has the potential to be like alex's...with proper spamming you too can be a WBB icon ;)

btw...excellent strength, when you do the tbar rows do you just grab the olympic bar bare handed or use the v-bar as a handle.

ps...hooters hot wing sauce is the food of gods

Also do you bring the bar more to your abs or sternum?

yeah, the 10th plate is actually about a quarter inch off the end of the bar when i do them. it is kinda scary.
i row the handle up to just below my sternum.

if you run out of room for plates, you could have Belial stand and balance for more resistance, of course thatd only be adding about 95 lbs.

Yo Narc

You're small.
Yes folks everything he said in his log is accurate as I was privy to all of the workout and much of the food. And trust me he is way funnier in person than he is on the board (if that's even possible).

Anyways, Narc, since I know you live on this board, 6:30 JP and I will be at Wil Rec for quads. See you then. :D

MonStar
03-19-2003, 08:17 PM
LOL, pics in the gym will only help so much Narc. Trust me man, I posted pics of a 555 lbs. deadlift and guys were still a little iffy about it. Sucks that sh*t like this has to happen, but it does. I mean WBB has experienced a few bullsh*tters---so these steps are a must.

Maybe get some pics in the gym of your heaviest lifts, etc.

Keep up the hard work man.

Alex.V
03-19-2003, 08:23 PM
I don't think it's a must. I can call his lifts legit. There are enough board members here in NC who could come check it out for themselves if they're curious. There's no "must" about it. Believe what you want.

1 plate full (about 3 servings) french fries w/ hot sauce
20 oz cranberry juice
60 oz water

Meal#5 (post-workout)
1 protein shake w/ strawberries, bananas, 2 scoops meal replacement, 1 scoop protein
1 ultra slim-fast shake (chocolate)
1 polly-o mozzarella string cheese

Meal#6
6 oz top sirloin
12 baked buffalo wings (all drummettes)

30 oz Lemon-Lime Gatorade
40 oz water

Meal#7

12 oz milk
60 oz water

Meal#8
2 polly-o mozzarella string cheese
1 bowl banana bread oatmeal
1 ultra slim-fast shake (chocolate)
20 oz water

Workout
i worked quads and calves today. the patella tendonitis in my left leg had me in absolute agony. definitely no squatting today. i did:
12 sets (each leg) on single-leg leg extensions
5 sets double-leg leg extensions
7 sets leg press
0 sets squats :(
4 sets adductors supersetted w/ abductors
4 sets standing calf raises
hopefully tomorrow my quads will be more sore than my patella tendon.

Today's Reflections
a cramp in your lat hurts more than a cramp in any other part of your body. earlier today, while showering, i made a futile attempt at washing my ass. while reaching behind, my left lat cramped from the origin to the insertion. it was pure, unadulterated excruciating pain. tears welled up in my eyes as i lay pressed against the shower wall trying to figure out how i was going to finish my shower.
i said fuk it. i figured if i stood there long enough, sufficient water would have flowed down my crack to leave me fresh for the rest of the day.
cramps suck.

I'm sure this is a stupid question. Don't incinerate me.

But...how the hell do you not get fat? It seems like there's a limited number of calories than can be used (burned or used for muscle growth) and the rest would be stored as fat. (And I do know about the thermic effect of food, etc - additionally, I'm sure that the chewing alone is a form of light cardio. :D) But it just seems...well, weird that anyone can eat that much and not get fat too.

Also, how do you have time to do anything else besides eat and work out? It seems like eating that much would be a full time job in itself, let alone cooking it all and, god forbid, going to the grocery store.

The mind boggles.

i eat very swiftly. i prepare things during the morning to bring with me to class each day. meals 3, 4, and 5 are usually eaten on campus. the sirloin/baked potato meal normally takes about a half hour to prepare. it is all worth it.

Once again props on your eating exploits.

Since you spam alex's journal, i figure i'll rant in yours ;)

This bullsh!t about everyone challenging everyone else's stats, lifts, natural status, etc is ridiculous. If you are lying about yourself to make you feel more like a man, then you got some serious fukking issues. Alex shouldn't even have to back the man up, if he says he lifts something, then he probably does, if he wants to show pics of himself, then he will, he doesn't have to prove a goddamn thing to anyone. Sorry to vent here, but i've had all i can take of this calling people out ****.

evolu2art

I would just like to note that Narc is the MOST impressive eater I have ever seen. Not simply for the shear quantity of food that he consumes (an amount that would make most dinosaurs proud) but the speed at which he consumes it. The man is a walking gullet. On Fri and Sat we get free 20 oz meal replacement shakes from our friend at the gym and Narc will down both of his (Yes, two for a total of 40 or so oz) in somewhere near the range of 30 sec. The reason it takes him so long is simply because he usually pauses for about 16 sec after finishing the first shake to starting the second  I don't want to say it's impressive but it is.

The best, and most entertaining part is that when he finishes one of his shakes (after all 7 sec it took him to drink it) and it's dripping off his face he looks as though he had been in front of MrWebb after he finished stroking.

The leather doughnut remark will live on for quite some time.

Narc, you got one of those removable shower heads? Just kinda pop it between the legs and aim up on the "pulse" setting. Just, uh, don't turn it up too much. Still, that might do it. I know this girl who says that works wonders. Not for cleaning, though.

Man. Somebody's got it in for you. I asked in Diet for a science-y kind of explanation of how you could partition all those calories into muscle growth instead of fat storage (I had to ask there because you declined to theorize tuttut, giving me instead some twaddle about slimfast; while amusing, it was hardly enlightening. ;) ) Anyway, first some dumbass started dissing you and then the thread got locked.

Sheesh. My threads never get locked.
Is this guilt by association? Am I now tarred with the Narcissus brush, simply because I bought my prayer rug?

belial: no i do not. i am very much considering purchasing one now though.

bradley: thanks.

CG: i saw that thread. i figured i would not even bother. i figure there is no point in me keeping up this charade. i should just come clean. although i do consume 10k calories a day, i also have a serious problem with bulemia. i figure i probably keep in about 1k per day. i am very afraid of getting fat. i will attach a picture from about 2 weeks ago, when me and mrwebb were resting between sets. i know - i do look fat in this picture, and mrwebb looks severely bloated, but i am working on it. :(

Alex.V

You mean the fact that your chest sticks straight out? As in, you could probably rest a f*ckin plate on it at this point? At least 3.5" of horizontal movement before the muscle even thinks of sloping down. ridiculous.

yes, i knew that thread would not last long. that is among the reasons why i did not even offer a reply. i guess i can make an attempt at answering your question though. before 2 weeks ago, i was eating about 7500-10000 calories a day, normally on the lower end of that range. i suppose "genetic freak" could somewhat explain how i was able to assimilate such a large portion of those calories as muscle rather than fat. from what i have been told by some amateur bodybuilders and exercise physiologists whom i know, is that it is possible that my body may remain in a positive nitrogen balance much longer than the average person's, thus allowing for a longer window for protein synthesis (which, of course, requires a significant number of carbohydrates and other nutrients).

i have only begun eating at least 10000 a day since i began my cycle. the drugs will surely help me synthesize a much larger amount of nutrients than normal by even further extending the window during which my body is in a positive nitrogen balance (among the many fun things that drugs do :D ) .

also, consideration must be taken for the amount of calories that are necessary each day purely for maintenance. hopefully, this is the answer that you seek.

Wow that is the most vain thing I have ever read. Had I not actually been witness to Narc staring at the mirror, and then staring at the mirror some more, and then for good measure taking another good long stare - all from about an inch away, I would think that Narc's pathological lying side had once again taken hold ;) ;) ;)

The 390 was absolutely sick on V-bar pressdowns. I hit 340 and felt like a frat boy, you know small annoying and taking up a machine, next to Narc.

For MrWebb, you said you needed more weight on your leg presses. You should do what Narc and I do, steal a pin from another machine and pin on whatever weight you choose. Once you have maxed this out start adding d=bells on top. When this gets to be unsafe take apart the machine with a wrench (ie what Narc had to do in order to get all 390 together) and leave it apart in order to piss off the annoying weight room monitor that plays smooth R&B (my god I want to hug someone somebody please :shoot: ME), and the gym manager that thinks Belial makes too much noise when he deadlifts and gives him (after Belial has done something weak like 600 lbs) some pansy ass deadlifting instructions from 1950.

(And no, we hold no resentment to the people working in our gym ;) ;) ;) ;) )

All of the numbers in your training log sound quite impressive, including the number of urination breaks per night. You might want to mention this to a doctor. This many urination breaks can be symptom of several medical issues including prostate problems, diabetes, bladder problems, thyroid problems, or taking certain medications. Then again it might just be caused by drinking a lot of water before you go to bed and at each time you wake up.

Aw. I'm actually supposed to go out tonight and I was trying to hurry and get dressed. But I think I changed my mind - I'm ditching out on the plans and staying home instead. Girl is tired.

So, let's talk some more about you. :D

I had already taken into account your enormously high BMR (due to your super-colossal bulk), and the thermic effect of the food itself. I guess your leptin is probably at flood levels all the time too, from 3 straight years of eating like a one-man plague of locusts; leptin has a lot to do with partitioning. The protein synthesis thing makes some sense, but I still can't see how it would explain it completely.

I'm pretty sure that's because I just don't understand the science well enough; I've only recently gotten interested in the physiological effects of food and supplements on the hormonal systems, and I don't really have a handle on the big picture. (I admit, I tend to skim all the 'PPAR-alpha receptor' and 'rate-limiting lipolytic enzyme' stuff because I don't know enough about the basic workings of the endocrine system to contextualize the studies within a larger logical framework. So I get frustrated and skip ahead to the conclusions.) (I knew I should have paid more attention in my science classes. )

Anyway, I guess there's no way to really know for sure unless somebody takes a cross-section of you and runs a bunch of tests.

OK, was that long enough for you? (Sheesh, you're a demanding minor deity, aren't you? It's not enough that I'm on the ****ing prayer mat five times a day already - now my posts have a minimum length requirement? What the hell is next?)

(And, before you even ask - I categorically and absolutely decline to assist you in any way with your recent ass-washing dilemma.)

The spider curls to which Narc refers are preacher curls that we do, except they are done over the flat side of the preacher curl bench with our chests on the angled part. We take the seat out (again, us taking apart gym equipment) in order to do this. Seems to hit our bi's very well we feel.

Who sez men have problems with intimacy and communication? Pshaw.

You're a born sharer. (your jerking-off habits, the size of your poops, the annoying propensity of your nut-sack to stick to your thigh during sleep, your struggle with that 'not-so-fresh feeling'...I might have missed a couple, but you see the trend here.)

It's - it's almost like a Hallmark commercial.

Haha! Narc if you are 340 20% you should just jump on the Olympia stage and take this year's title. That's almost 275 LBM you are carrying around. Just call up Coleman and Cutler and all those midgets and tell them not even to show up. If that's the case this forum really needs to be renamed wannabenarc.com. Maybe it should be anyway...

magnus: i am sure there is a decent amount.

FFej: let me try to remember some numbers. only one i know for sure is that my max bench was 65lbs for 1 rep on day 1, three years ago. i think my tricep v-bar pushdown was about 70. barbell row was 65, for 3 or 4 reps. standing dumbell alternating curl was 20lbs for maybe 5 reps per side. any other exercises, throw it out, and i will do my best to recall what i was using when i started.

you have to keep in mind though, i had never been a physical person at all. i did aikido for 9 years, but that is a very graceful martial art, which does essentially nihil for muscle mass and strength (when performed correctly).

Are you being serious about these starting numbers? I mean, typical newbs to weight training can at least do something like the quarters for bench. It just sounds like you started out really ..weak...of course, you obviously must have some of the best genetics for lifting possible.

Thats assuming this is true, which its not, since you, and belial, and everyone else is in on a massive conspiracy.

heh, that's funny, because i have found working out making me angrier and angrier every day. there's a plethora of things that just piss me off now that I am cutting pretty well. And I don't take anything that would make me do it too.

Example: I was waiting for a certain machine for cardio and this fat kid with clothes that scream "I stopped in on my way from school/the ice cream shop" (as in, jeans and long sleeve shirt and just horrible clothing in general) was on it. Granted, 7 other people were on the 7 other machines, but that kid made me so mad that he was wasting my time with his oh-so-apparent half-assed workout. See? Look how angry I am! :)

straight arm lat pushdowns? what is it exactly all im thinking is arms straight out and pressing some weight down like you're flapping your wings around? and how the f do you do pulldowns to the rear when your that big? you got 100lbs on me and my shoulders wont let me do em

and your f'in hilarious

Narcissus
03-25-2003, 08:12 PM
kook: straight arm lat pushdowns go like this - standing at the lat pulldown machine, put your arms out and grab the pull-down bar, at about shoulder width apart. keep your arms locked out, and bring the weight straight down. you can either do this with a slight bend in your lower back, or standing completely straight. if you are bent over slightly, they target the insertion of your lat near your waist, and your lower traps and rhomboids. if you opt for being completely erect (my choice), it targets upper lat thickness, teres major and minor, and the supra- and infraspinatus. and thanks - i should be a stand-up comic.

belial: i'll show you, as long as you agree to take that weird floating triangle thing off the top of your head.

borris: we were actually talking about how dennis james has his own weight boy. i was thinking, if the 3 of us pool our money, we should have enough to purchase a midget.

ok i know what your talking about now.. but now this has me thinking of my first thought. say stand in the middle of a cable rack... each arm straight to the side..palms down press cable till arms are by your side? kinda like gymnysts on the those handles on rope do this and lift themselves up..

Furthermore, if you are to continue posting it, you really should change it to Velveeta 'Latin American' cheese.

Do you have to use straps on any of those exercises?

I don't see anything wrong with the "Mexican" part (though Velveeta is certainly not Mexican, youc an't find a Velveeta product here if your life depended on it). Furthermore, I refuse to be referred as Latin American, I don't find amusing the idea of being mistaken for an Argentinian or Colombian.

Nice way to start posting in your journal, huh, Narc? Anyway, I have been reading it for a while, and like other guys said, just reading about your meals makes me hungry. And those workouts are something else. Good job, dude

Hi narc, and let me join everyone else in saying that your diet and strength ****ing rule! But I have a question for you.
You've said several times that you're getting into bodybuilding rather than powerlifting. It's clear that you could have huge success in either field, but what influenced your decision to take the bodybuilding route rather than the PL route?

i wedge an olympic bar into a corner, and straddle it at the back with a 110 lb dumbell. i then use a wedge handle, hook it under the bar about an inch from the edge, and row the weight with a body position exactly the same as when doing barbell rows.

MrWebb - both Narc and myself are juniors and bio majors. His bio major is actually (in his full fledged attempt to become a god that controls everything, not just wannabenarc) a concentration in genetics. He is also a German (achtung baby!) studies minor if my memory serves correct.

I myself am just a general bio major although my interests lie is evolution and complex systems. Additionally I am a visual art major (hence my name here) -- sorry I answered the question for myself, but Narc is getting too much attention around here. I feel as though some weird cult that focuses on rugs and astroglide is starting here.

"i wedge an olympic bar into a corner, and straddle it at the back with a 110 lb dumbell. i then use a wedge handle, hook it under the bar about an inch from the edge, and row the weight with a body position exactly the same as when doing barbell rows."

Workout
barbell rows
45x20
135x15
225x15
315x15
405x12, 315x10, 225x12, 135x15 (drop-set)
t-bar rows
*i do these with an olympic bar wedged into a corner, with a dumbell as a counterweight. resistance of the bar is not included in the weight.
180x15
270x12
360x12
450x3

***********************************

I'm curious how you are able to get 10 45s on one side of a Olympic bar and do t-bar rows. First, the ROM would be zero, because 45s are too big around and you end up hitting your chest after moving the weight a few inches. Second, I could be mistaken here (but I am 99% sure), but I don't think there is room for 10 plates.

there is room for 9 plates and a clip, or a 10th plate with about half of the 10th one hanging off the end of the bar.

the ROM is probably about 12-15 inches. i'll check later at the gym to be sure. you have to keep in mind that, with rows, your arm length determines your range of motion (e.g. lee priest would not have as large a ROM as i do).

Narc, I have a few questions for you.

I've been doing some research lately on over-feeding and intense training. As part of that I've been following several very large bodybuilders/powerlifters that have grown to their size from modest beginnings (~180 pounds) to 300 or more, like you, in a relatively short period of time. These individuals have gained a very large amount of muscle relative to bodyfat over that time.

I'm contemplating training a couple of my clients in this manner and potentially following some of it myself. I've turned myself into a human experiment subject at this point, and have made the best gains of my life in the past four or five months.

Here's a few questions for you, if you'd be so kind as to talk about yourself ;):

-You started training around three years ago? You stated that you were not active other than akido. What type of bodyfat were you working with? Very lean (10-12%) or mediocre?

-Have you been feeding at this level or close to it for the whole time, or have you gradually evolved into it?

-Has your training been similar to it is now for the past three years, or did you spend time casting around to find a routine that fit you?

-Have your gains been mostly linear? Given your current strength and your stated starting strengths, I'm guessing they've been quite steady. That has been the case?

-If you don't mind, how big are your wrists and ankles? Have you noticed your bone structure thickening to any degree?

Thanks for your consideration.

I would say probably in the 13-15% range. But to tell you the truth, i honestly do not know.

For the first 6 months, i would say i was probably in the 5-7000 calories range. from 6 months til 3 weeks ago, i was in the 7500-10,000 range. and the past 3 weeks i have been 10k+.

my training, insofar as the exercises, sets, and rep range, has always been very similar to how it is now. i had some really good mentors at my gym when i first began.

strength gains have been mostly linear. chest was stagnant for quite some time, but continued to grow (fine with me). everything is going up rapidly now though. :D drugs, the 9th wonder of the world. (i, of course, am numero uno - and then the normal 7).

This journal is teh best evar.

Just wanted to chime in and say that I admire, among other things, your consistency in training and diet. I think that's probably one of the most underappreciated things in any very serious (as in not just recreational, "for health," or to go to the gym on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night only, do arms and chest, so you can better fill out your form-fitting shirt that you call your "club attire" purposes) bodybuilder's lifestyle. I'm sure it's not a big thing to you as you've adjusted but it's something I lack, so it's something that I do really admire.
