View Full Version : Best Tuna?

I heard tuna is good for building muscle and has alot of protein in it so I was wondering what is the best tuna or what kind of tuna does everyone eat. i went to the food store tonight and saw there was all different kinds of tuna and some have more fat than others and some have more protein than others so i was wondering is there really much of a difference or it doesn't matter. Thanks

Well, there are some tuna soaked in oil, and some soaked in water. That changes the fat content. If you want the one soaked in oil, get the canola oil brand. More poly and unsaturated fats.

If you want the one soaked in water, get whatever you think it good. I prefer chicken light tuna.

BubbleBee Tuna!

I go for the Starkist Albacore in Water. Doesnt stink as bad as regular tuna, but its a little more expensive.

bumble bee in water, the oil ones taste gross. chicken of the sea tastes gross.

Tuna in gel is good too :) That's the one I eat a can of every day..

I also vote for Bumblebee Albacore Tuna in water. It's the one least likely to have the consistency and appearance of cat food. It comes rather solid, in nice big flaky chunks that works well eating plain with lemon juice or on top of a salad.

Albacore in Water, The brand doesn't matter.

I eat chicken of the sea or bumble bea, I don't notice a differance. Never tried albacore. When I eat it cold I throw some hot sauce in and s&p. Also mix and egg in, seasoning salt and fry, 40gProtein.

I buy whatever tuna is on sale. I mean, tuna is tuna, it all comes from the same family of fish. The only difference is between albacore and light, and blah blah blah, as far as that goes, its just a matter of personal taste. I just buy whatever is cheapest

I prefer the water packed brands with no salt added. Unfortunately these are expensive. They often cost over $2 per can. I usually end up buying Chicken of the Sea tuna with 50% less salt. My supermarket puts this brand on sale at 50 cents per can once every month or two. When it is on sale, I stock up.

Do you guys eat it straight out of the can?

I can't believe anyone has not mentioned Dave's Albacore. It's expensive, but it's WORTH EVERY PENNY. It's the only tuna so darn good you'll drink the juice and lick the can. I kid you not.

I've never seen a brand of tuna called "Dave's Albacore." Maybe it is only available in your region.

Along with a little Mrs. Dash and Tabasco.

I agree with Shankerr. Go with what's on sale, but if I had my choice it would be Albacore.

Anyone tried that tuna filet in a can?

Take the tuna directly out of the can without adding anything, put it inbetween two slices of noncrap bread, put some relish in there, thats what allows me to eat so much tuna a day.

I heat mine too sometimes. I find it does change the taste a bit once you're sick of just scooping it out fo the can
