What type of effect did the beer have on my "good" chest day. Did I ruin my workout or not?

are you serious??

having a few beers isn't going to make your workout go away

if you had the beer instead of consuming some decent carb/protein after the workout, that'd be a bit of a bad thing

but while you can have 'good' and 'bad' workouts, progressing and growing is something that is accomplished in weeks and months of lifting... not individual sessions

Bottom line: Don't sweat it.

Hell I used to do that before.

Last year about this time, I'd go have my Friday workout in the evening after work then meet the guys out for steak; I'd have a few brews with that meal.

Nothing wrong with it IMO.

glad to know it didn't hurt my workout too bad....... or at least not according to u guys.

I only drink 1-2 times a week, so I am hoping it won't cause negative results.

Don't worry, beer is fine from time to time.

If I only drank 1 or 2 times a week I'd be a chipendale dancer

Did you wake up sore? Anytime I drink like that after a workout it dries me out, and makes me wish for death the next day.

Like anything you need progress and practice more.

Obviously drinking 6 beers after a workout is not going to help you gain optimal results but it will not negate your workout entirely. It's all about balance. If you do not intend to compete and enjoy drinking enough that you do not mind limiting your gains go ahead and enjoy your beer. If you are looking to maximize your potential then drinking is a big no no.

Do a search, there was once a reasonably heated debate on this and all the (many) negative side effects of alcohol on muscle gains were discussed then.

I think the topic name was "Does beer really mess up your muscle system" or something to that extent.

I do try to not drink on days I lift. If I do I try to get atleast a shake and a meal in first, also protein for day.
But I squat on fridays, and drink most of them and every saturday, and most alot of sundays, and my squats are progressing best off all. They might do better, of course.
