Here's a comparison of Rob 8 weeks out for his comp this Saturday, and then 6 days out.

See the difference two months can make?!

What a transformation! I think I need to talk to you about cutting. You certainly know how to do it. Great work man.

Pup's method of cutting:

1. Eat approximately 72 calories/day.
2. Do cardio.
3. Lift heavy.

Looks good, although the tan and shave helps quite a bit too. Good luck with the competition!

I wasn't trying to put you down bro, what I meant is that you should start dieting 16 weeks out like most do. If you have done that great in only half of the period, think of how ripped you'd look after 16 weeks.
Good luck in the contest.

You look pretty good. I still don't think those pics do justice to the hard work you put into your diet and training. I think I'm the same way. Nonetheless, you look good man.

I was thinking the same d*mn thing! I'm friends with a couple of contest winners, and have watched them win, so I feel like I have at least a "decent" eye for these things.

I see absolutely no fat loss, no change in cuts, nothing.

All I see is a tan that accents/highlights previously established curves & angles, a goatee, and a slightly different pose within the neck region. :help: :help:

And no, you're not in contest shape.

That said, you still look great, and I sincerely mean that.

[honest reply]

You look good but what exactly is the difference between the two pics other than a tan or different lighting. I mean honestly, the people saying things like "What a transformation!" or "unbelievable progress!" please help me out. Again I take nothing away from your accomplishments here, you have clearly put in a lot of work.

Just to clear a few things up for those of you who seem to think i look like crap.

1. i agree with you...i don't expect to place, i busted my ass and came up short, sh!t happens, i'll come in better next time

2. i do this because i enjoy it, the discipline of doing a diet, getting on stage, even if you don't look perfect, is all a great learning experience, i would recommend some of you try it.

i appreciate the compliments and acknowledge the criticism, just wanted to clear up that i by no means think i'm arnold and usually get chastised by anna and others for being too hard on myself.

pup did you use a fake tan or is that the real deal? whenever i try- i burn, then peel, then go a darker shade of white, then back to where i started. how did you do it?

p.s best of luck for the show

Vido

How about some before and after stats?

Majestic
04-04-2003, 04:19 PM
Perhaps I should clarify my constructive (and I believe accurate & fair) criticism by adding that the 2 pictures do INDEED look VERY different, but it's not due to BF loss.....not at all.

It's pure tan, all the way.

I'll also acknowledge that your pants are probably no doubt fitting differently, and you probably have lost some BF......I just don't think it shows in that picture.

Again, the 2 pictures *do* look very, very different, but it's not because of fat loss. It's the shadows created by the tan reflecting light differently over previously established angles & curves.

Vido
04-04-2003, 04:36 PM
I agree Majestic, that's why I think some stats will help clear things up.

I have a light complexion and burn easily, but I have found that if you gradually expose yourself to the sun, you don't burn as much. For example, maybe increase your time in the sun by a minute every time until you get darker.

Your guys are being pretty critical, I think you need to take a better look at the pictures. To me it looks like he's just retaining water in the second. Look at his left arm, in the second picture you vagely see the vein in his bicep, yet his arms appear larger, perhaps more bloated.
Look at the bottom of his abs, in the before picture the 2 lines the run begin to taper outwards due to fat, in the second they're much leaner showing the abdominals more.
Look at the size difference in his neck, that looks like it's lost a few inches. And look at his traps, although it could be due to the tan and pose, they appear much leaner also.
Also look at his right arm between his anterior delt and chest, in the before picture there is some fat with the little fat wrinkle thing. In the after... it's gone.

You guys should really take a better look before you get so critical on the guy. To me it looks like he worked very hard, and although I agree he doesn't look like contest shape. I give him props for sticking with it and using it as a learning expierience.

Best of luck Pup.

Majestic and Vido...in that first pic my supra illiac measurement on the caliper was 13mm...in the second pic it was 10mm...so no, its not just the tan, and no, i'm not getting in a pissing contest with you guys over my body, think what you want, i don't care.

Behemoth...thnx bro, you noticed what i noticed and although you are right that i was not in good enough shape to win a contest, which i didn't win btw, but it was another great learning experience for me and hopefully the next time i get on stage i'll be *worthy* of your people's praise.

Rob still hasn't let me see pics from the first competition :( Let alone the video.

Yes that was a "friendly" reminder that I'm still a pain in the ass! :)
