New member to WBB. I have a quick question. I've been training for about 6months and ive gained 40 pounds since i started. Now im 17 and I weigh 165. I've been taking protein for about 3months and it has helped alot. Now that i have a job i can afford to take more supps. Some of my friends who have been bodybuilding for a while tell me I shouldn't take creatine since I'm still getting pretty good gains w/out it. I've read quite a bit on creatine in these forums and I don't see a disadvantage. Will my money be better spent on 1) multi-vitamins 2) creatine 3) mass gainer 4) glutamine. I can probably afford a couple of these at the same time but any suggestions on what should be priority would be helpful. thx

I look into purchasing a good multi vitamin to make sure that you are getting adequate amounts of vitamins and minerals and maybe some high GI carbs postworkout. Creatine is a good supp IMO, but not necessary by any means.

Pretty much what above says but IMO :
Protein/Whey..
Start on the Creatine..
Glutamine
Multivitamin - If you're missing/lacking certain vits in you're diet..
And.... EAT EAT & EAT! (Chicken fillets, steaks do it for me... etc) Goes without saying though....

i think multi vitamins are must.
id also take chichen/steak/pork over protein/whey
i only intake 7g of creatine a week, all in the first dose, usually the day before my 3 day split starts over.

I say a multi is more imporatant one there, most likely you are not get all the nutrients you body needs. Multi, and whey first.

I agree that my diet, the quality of my workout, and the ammount of time i spend resting is more important than the supplements. But i am gaining weight and I just wanted to hear what other experienced body builders had to say about the choice of supplements that are out there. According to some replies multi vitamins aren't important and in others they were #1 after protein. 2 Questions: #1 - In most cases, what do vitamins give you that lack in most diets (just to compare with mine) #2 - I've heard that creatine can cap your growth if taken too early. Myth?

stick with protein and vitamins for now. i would add other supplements when your gains stop. see what your body can naturally do at this point.
#1: there is a vitamin article written by Yates that's worth a read. check in the article section.
#2: myth

I would get in lots of vitamins with your training for now, the yates article is a good read.
Make sure your diet is good, high protein reguraly ect
1. get a multi vit, vit Bs Cs & Es especily, get a vit C which disolves in water take throughout the day
2.Get a weigh protein when results halt from taking extra vitamins
3.Get creatine when results halt again
4.Take a ECA dose preworkout untill results halt again
5.Come back on here after youve done all the above and ask what to do next ( should be a while)
oh if you wana save a lot of cash dont bother with most other supps unless you like to waste cash

Your friends are right. If you're just starting out, you honestly don't need creatine. I only started using it when I started to stagnate on my gains. Get some protein and multivitamins first. Maybe throw in creatine later if you really do want it.
As for Buff stuff's suggestion for ECA...how does that affect gains? As I understand it, most use it for either an energy burst for a workout or cutting. I've never heard it used in reference to breaking a plateau.

I would buy lots of food (BLSL chicken breasts are a bit pricey). Get a good high potency multi-vit. If you like, get B's(complex), C, and E on their own because most multi's won't get you as much as the individual ones. Are you adding dextrose to your shakes?-(this is cheap and effective). I like Glutamine because of all of its benefits, but it can be pricey. I would wait on the Creatine, see how far you can go without it.
Bottom line, invest your money in food, your heart into lifting... then buy some new bigger clothes. IMHO.

Sounds good guys. Thx for your posts. I'm gonna keep taking my protein and add in some multi-vitamins and some glutamine. And I'm gonna consider taking creatine again in a month or two maybe. 1more quick question. I've been buying my protein from GNC. Should i buy my glutamine and multi-vitamins from GNC also?

I would recommend buying your protein, glutamine, creatine, etc. from an online supplement company as it will be cheaper than GNC. I purchase my vitamins from GNC because I like their Mega Man vitamin.
If you are trying to gain weight you would probably be better served purchasing creatine instead of glutamine and the creatine is also cheaper.

I agree Bradley but since people here have kinda confirmed what my more experienced body building friends have told me i will try and see how far i can get w/out creatine just to be sure.

Well shoa-lin ephadrine and caffine pre workout can increase strength levels up to 5-10% !
Increased stregnth= more reps+more wieght= more gains
more gains = breaking a plateau
