Awesome. I'm a lurker there.

It'll be good to have you on the board, your knowledge will be an asset.

Also, this is a pretty decent place. Again, welcome!

CanadianSilverb

Thank for wishing me luck!
My stats are:
5'6"
255lbs offseason
right now 215lbs.... don't know what I will weigh on stage because my weight fluctuates by around 10lbs up and down every week.
I haven't done any measurement either.

04-16-2003, 01:02 PM
Looking awesome man! You look a lot heavier then 215lbs  of course you are 5'6". How old are you and how long have you been at it? Again - looking awesome.

CanadianSilverb
04-16-2003, 01:29 PM
Thanks ericg! I think I might look bigger because of the size of my joints. I turned 25 this year and I've been hitting the weights serious since 18. After I won the Windsor Cup at 19, I stuck my head in college, got into the party scene, and wasn't training serious. I was eating only when I was hunger. Needless to say the progress wasn't going far. Now I've matured and taking my training very serious, I hope to make some serious change in my body.

I'm sure many here would be keen to read it if you were to start a journal and record your progress here!

After my first show, if your interested I will post a diet log for the next show 10 weeks after.

Relentless
04-16-2003, 02:35 PM
for real, that'd be useful

I'm cutting myself on a lyle-macdonald-driven keto, but would find it hugely worthwhile to observe a real competitor doing a pre-contest diet

You have great size, huge. Your arms are great, legs solid, and the rest of you looks good as well. That said, you look quite smooth for 2.5 weeks out from a show.

CanadianSilverb
04-16-2003, 07:29 PM
Thanks for the props guys! I think I am going to post pics the day of the show. There is a lot of things that you must do the final week that will make you look flat, watery and small. You can't really judge a person in that state. It's usually the ones that look big, ripped and full that come in off.

Wolverine

CanadianSilverb

Yes, the gene pool was great to me. My mom has the same size calves as me and doesn't workout. LOL
One think I can tell you is, if you want to compete first have a couple year of serious training and do it. You will only get better in time. This will be the 3rd show I've done. Here is a pic on me when I was 19 and won the Windsor Cup in 1997.

I started dieting with the basic carb cycling diet and converted to the Keto diet a week and a half ago. Since I converted to Keto my fat just melted off. I have one carb meal a week. This meal is around 200 grams of carbs on one sitting. This week it was potatoes and a cup of rice. I was so hunger I almost ate it all in the checkout line. The people's faces were so funny looking at me. Here is what my diet consist of right now. It might change 2 weeks out depending on what I look like and how tight my skin is.

Pro 378 grams Carbs 4 grams Fat 63 grams

Meal 1: 6:30am
Shake

Meal 2: 8:30am
8 oz chicken

Meal 3: 10:30am
1 cans Tuna
2/3 tablespoon olive oil

Meal 4: 12:30pm
8 oz chicken
1 tablespoon MCT oil

Meal 5: 3:00pm
8 oz chicken
1 tablespoon MCT oil

Meal 6: 5:30pm
1 cans Tuna
2/3 tablespoon olive oil

Meal 7: 7:30pm
8 oz chicken

Meal 8: 9:30pm
3 whole Eggs

Your back makes me want to go lift more. What type of exercises to you prefer to do for your back?

Great physique man, glad to see another canadian join the fight to take over this board from our limy commonwealth friends. :evillaugh

Do you eat this every day pretty much? Or do you vary? Just wondering as keeping carbs to 4 grams would mean that a lot of things with even trace carbs would have to be eliminated from your diet.

CanadianSilverb

HomeYield: I trained serious for two year before I did a show.

I had back surgery a week after that last pic. Everything have recovered incredibily well. Not 100% but up there. For back I ALWAYS do chin ups (all grips). My workouts vary but I'll give an example of my last one.

4 sets of wide grip chins to failure
4 sets of dumbell rows (reps 8, 6, 6, 6)
4 sets of seated cable rows (dropsets 6, 12)
4 sets of straight arm pulldowns (reps 8-10)
4 sets of lower back machine (reps 10)

I just want to hit all angles of the back before I leave the gym. No deadlift and barbell rows. ****ing my back up twice is not an option for me. To be honest you can build a back without those exercises. My goal now is to train but not strain.

ElPietro: You know what's funny. When I was young we had chickens. I used to chase them down all the time. They never liked me but I love them. The diet changes all the time depending if progress has stopped or if I'm ahead of the game. 4 grams of carbs from the shake in the morning. I haven't looked into traces of carbs in the other food.
