View Full Version : Summer abs are almost here

Well, im 170 now.

Always had abs, but the sides and lower section had a bit of flab on em, getting in shape for summer, since January, i've lost 8 lbs, strength hasnt gone down at all, just went through really slow cut phase.

I think my abs are ok now, after summer, im going up to 185-190, new territory for me.

Let me know what you think.

I know, i look older. Im 17 born 07-10-85, im quite mature looking, always have been.

not to sound like a ****** cause you've done some top work for 18 months of training, but you could still improve a great deal on that. Build them up more

Considering ur age i am sure it will happen sooner or later.
what sort of ab routine do you follow? Are u a cruncher or do you have some strength there?

I train abs twice a week, doing weighted lying leg reaises, on a 30 degree decline, i do them really slow, with a 2 second pause at the bottom, 4 sets of these for 20-25 reps, on the last set, getting to 20 is a challenge !

I do regular situps, 3-4 sets, all to failure, after the lying leg raises, i barely get over 20-25, i've tried weighted situps, by holding a 25 lb plate on my chest, but i just dont feel it.

I barely do any oblique work, i hate side crunches, that's an area which still has some fat on it, but usually when i do , do obliques, i use this weighted crunch machine at the gym, 2 sets each side for 25-30.

I've always been between 9-12 BF i'd say, so when it comes to improving my abs, all i need is some hard work and cardio 2-3 times a week.

Obliques are on the side, thats just a shape, i dont think its called anything :), i must admit , it is pretty cool, most people have it, but when you got a bit of meat on you, it looks pretty impressive, had a look at your pix savannah (im kinda inactive on this board) i am damn impressed, you , repping 60s on incline, soon you'll be doing what i do. *gulp* !

Looks really good. You got some good size as well. It seems you get a little better with every new set of pictures.....so you are doing something right. You have alot of potential for the future.

By the way, something is weird in your stats. You do dips with an added 172 lbs yet you "only" bench 235*5???

Thats right, bench is a farely weak spot for me, some people skullcrush 120 and bench 260, i can skullrush that but only bench 225-235. Bench has always been a weak spot for me, and dips has always been one of my favourite exercise, i could dip even more, but 172 is all the machine has.

What was your weight before you started working out?

What was your bulking diet? Did you do cardio while bulking too?
What was your cutting diet?

I weighed in at about 142-145 when i started out, i didnt really bulk, overtime i just gained lean muscle .... until i was on 178, for my cutting i just did cardio ... same diet almost, just a littlle less peanut butter :)
