IMO, the 49ers have a good chance, especially with Jeff Garcia and Terrel Owens. But since their coach left, we'll have to see what happens.

What do you guys think?

49ers all the way. Can't stop Steve Young or Jerry Rice.

Exactly. Jerry Rice will catch many passes for the Raiders this year and lead them to another championship. :D

I am glad to see Jeff making it down there. I watched him for many years playing up here in the CFL for the Calgary Stampeders. He was always a standout and a great talent.

Da Bears!! yeah right...I haven't followed off-season happenings as close as usual, but I think Warren Sapp and the rest of the Bucs will continue to Crush, Kill, Destroy!

I like Pittsburgh this year. They got rid of the distraction of 'Slash', keep virtually all of their starters, and made a couple of nice free agent pickups.

IMHO, Maddox doesn't even need to be great... he just needs to be average, and this team can go all the way.

If I had to pick a hole in their team, it'd be in the secondary... if they can find a guy to play DB that brings the same kind of energy and drive that Randle-El gave 'em on offense, I think it's gonna be a very very good year for the Steelers.

Lol at the 49ers fans saying how good they are with the same guys they've lost with all the past years. :D

I agree pittsburgh will be much improved. Raiders are another year older, with two key players closer to their expected heart attacks. Gannon will not be able to come close to last year's season.

I think the Colts will also be much improved. There was a lot of BS and injuries they had to deal with, and hopefully a year and an offseason, Dungee's system will finally take hold and the defense will improve. I'd peg them down for 12 or 13 wins this upcoming season.

a couple things will plague Tampa Bay, I think

1) 'the slump' - everyone will be gunning for them this year and spending extra time reviewing their TB game tapes.

2) Quarterback - Brad Johnson is getting old and if he gets hurt, Shane Matthews isn't the answer. Nor is Jim Miller. If Brad goes down, Shaun King may be the surprise answer...

3) Who's going to step into Dexter Jackson's shoes?

4) The Dwayne Rudd factor. Gruden may want to put a padlock on this guy's chinstrap. :D

1) This is very real, the last 2 or 3 superbowl champs failed to make the playoffs the following year. IMO, Gruden is the type of guy that wont let this happen, he will keep his team on top of things.

2) We had some HARD fought games last year when Brad was out. Say what you will about Matthews, but I think he is better than Rob Johnson. I dont even see King making the roster, unless he steps it up in camp. He doesnt have much ability and is lacking in work ethic. That doesnt add up well...

3) DJax WAS superbowl MVP, but also missed alot of tackles and blew coverages during the season. He was improving, but he was one of the least important players on the defense. They are talking about moving dwight smith back there (nickleback from last year), Jermaine Phillips (rookie FS last year) or John Howell (in the mold of John Lynch).

4) He kept his helmet on in 15 out of games ;) He is faster and a better tackler than Al Singleton. Rudd is definately an UPgrade at the position.

I agree with Cal. The Steelers should do extremely well this year...although I'm a little bit biased. Then again, I thought they'd do really well last year and I thought they should have won it all 2 years ago. They seem to be good at finding a way to choke.

I hate the Bucs, but I also agree with Y2A. As the champs, they are definitely the team to beat, and I don't think they will falter this year. I see a Bucs/Steelers Super Bowl, but I'm praying the Steel Curtain will come out on top.

As long as the 49ers are being led by a butt pirate, i can't see them doing anything. I want to say the Eagles, but unfortunately all they acquired in the offseason was a fullback. As long as Donovan stays healthy they will still win it

I know you predicted the Eagles to win, but the reasoning seemed odd. You said you'd like to pick them, but they did $#@%-all to improve their team in the offseason, but then you'd pick them anyway.

What are everyone's thoughts on Parcells and the 'Boys? I think a great coach is extremely important, but if he's got no guys on the field that can play, it makes things quite difficult to win. I hear a lot of people saying he will completely turn things around in Dallas. With Hutchinson as the QB, I'll believe it when I see it.

They were a superbowl pick last year, they didnt need to improve much. They just need McNabb to NOT throw the ball to Ronde Barber next time :D

Parcells will need time to get that ship straight. He is a run the ball and play defense kinda guy, so the QB is not in the spotlight so much. I havent paid much attention to them, so I dont know how the Oline is, but he'll want some hogs up there to pound the ball with Hambrick.

He's one of the best coaches ever, but you hit the nail right on the head, with no players you can't win.

As far as me saying the Eagles will win, they will. The reasoning is they made it to the NFC Championship for the past two years with an incredible quarterback and a mediocre supporting cast, IMO, they would have won last year had Donovan not gotten hurt. You could tell he was not himself.

the cowboys' woes are pretty much all on the Offensive side of the ball... their D ain't that bad and kept them in a lot of games last year. Their big weakness there is pass rush, I think.

the trouble is that they need upgrades at most skill positions on offense, IMHO... Terry Glenn will be an improvement on Ismail, 'coz I think he gets along with Tuna alright, but Hambrick is still developing and they need someone to lead them from the pocket.

The NFC East is also a tough place to win ballgames.

better hope they have an amazing draft if you harbour any hopes of the Cowboys even busting .500 this season.

Next season may be another story, mind you.

Bill Parcells referred to Terry Glenn as "she" when asked if he would be playing in the next ballgame. "We dont know, she is still nursing an injury" (something like that) :D

I don't recall anyone mentioning KC. I'm not sure what they did this offseason, but if they improved their defense, they could be bad-*****! They just need to use the double-coverage on gonzo more to their advantage.
