Hey Im new here. Right now I weigh 150lbs. I started to lift in Jan at 138 lbs. Im happy with my gains since that time. Recently, I made a commitment to eat and eat and eat. My goal is to reach 160 by the end of August. Is this a reasonable goal? Can it be done sooner or will it take longer? I definately eat 6 times a day. I get plenty of protein. I eat mostly tuna,chicken,eggs/cheese,peanut butter, milk, and drink water. Anything I should try to add to that list?

Thanks in advance........

IMO i dont see why you couldnt reach 160 by August

i mean, you could gain 5 pounds a month if you gain 1 pound a week, which is easily possible.

maybe add some good fats: flaxseed oil, fish oils, natural peanutbutter

carbs: oatmeal, yams, brown rice, WW bread

protein: eggs, tuna, chicken, lean red meat, etc.

congratulations on the weight gain so far!

Clvmike, good job on the weight gain!

It sounds like you're bulking clean, so it shouldn't be a impossible to gain 10 more pounds by August.

160 by august.. haha, i could gain 30 pounds by then. What you need to say is can you gain 10 pounds of muscle by august, which would be fully reasonable.

I'd say add in some clean carbs like yams and some whole wheat bread.

160 by August? I'd shoot for 200 (at least) by August. Challenge yourself man.

In the course of 6 months I went from 165-225lbs. Just keep eating man.

While challenging yourself is good, I don't think it would be possible for him to gain 50 more lean lbs in 2.5 months. Especially if he has fast metabolism -which I am assuming since he was only 138 when he started.

Thanks for all the good info/support! Ofcourse as soon as I hit 150 lbs I got a sinus infection. I havent been able to lift or eat right for days. A major setback in my progress. I wish I could hit 200 by August thatd be kick ass but I really would like to hit 180. I think at 5'8 180 Id have a nice form.

I guess I should go force some tuna down my throat.......

Heh, you're right. I suppose I was thinking it was still earlier in the year. Geez, I guess it is only 2.5 months. Wow time flies.

That being the case, I think your original goal sounds realistic. ;)

So Im finally not totally sick after 4 days. I weigh myself this morning and find out that I lost almost 4lbs! All that hard work gone in a few days b/c I was too sick to eat right or workout.

Now I have to eat 3 times as much........

I am sure some of that could be glycogen/water weight.:)

Youre right. I p*ssed like a race horse for 3 days and didnt take much in and my body was basically feeding off itself.

Being sick sucks, but all you have to do is get your butt back to the gym :D

I plan to load up on food for a few days, get my strength back and hit the gym even harder. I tried to lift even when I felt like crap it probably hurt my progress doin something stupid like that.

IMO i wouldnt lift when your sick. maybe if you just have a cold, or the sniffles then you could give it a go. but if its somthing worse then that, i'd just stay home, get better, and then hit the gym when your back 2 normal.

Try not hit it too hard. It might lead to overtraining :)

I overtrained for almost 2 months. I went 6 days a week and didnt get enough rest. I also neglected my legs at times. Ive learned ALOT by just reading this board and others on the net. I know I have to eat, rest, and sleep right in addition to good heavy lifting to gain weight.
