what are empty calories. i hear alot of you guys say not to drink reguler pop becouse of the empty calories

Basically calories that have no nutritional benefits. Things like soda, alcohol, etc.

so the calories are not any different then calories in other foods, its just in soda and alcohol there are only calories in them and no nutritional benefit, am i right?

Yup. A gram of sugar in soda is still 4 calories, its just that soda as a whole has no nutritional benefit, so it is considered "empty calories."

But you can still use it as fuel. With alcohol your body will use up the alcohol before other food.

This has probably been explained enough but here's my .02. When people refer to something as having just empty calories, it has nothing useful in it- no vitamins, minerals, protein, healthy fats, fiber, etc. Just sugary crap. I haven't had regular soda in almost 7 months. I agree it tastes better, but you're much better off leaving it out... there's diet alternatives that are pretty good, too.
