View Full Version : Proteins in whole wheat stuffs....

I eat lots of whole wheat stuffs and dat's sorta one of my problem... because there also are proteins in them... If i eat 2 cups of dry pasta dat's liek 20g of protein. And i add 150g of chicken breast to it.. then dat's like 45g total.. and what i'm here asking is that what is the alternative to whole wheat stuff that doesn't contain that much of protein so i can get my proteins from meats and stuff??.....

the reason i'm looking for alternatives is that i heard wheat, and vege protins are not as good protien..

That protein is as good as no protein, or you may consider it as low GI carbs. Their biological values are less than 10 (for wheat). Rice protein is different story, despite being incomplete protein, its biological availability is 60+. Beans are highly touted, other than soybean most of them are extremely low in BV.

In summary, try to get 1gm protein/lb bodyweight from animal sources of protein. For females, soybean is fine.

I disagree with Gary.The bv of wheat protein is 54.Yep,rice is ~60.Wheat protein may be incomlpete but it's the only protein that has the aminoacid L-methionine(which your body can't synthesise).All animal proteins(cheese,eggs,chicken,beef,milk,fish)don't have this aminoacid .It's the only aminoacid they don't have.So you can get the max results if you combine wheat with animal proteins.

Methionine is abundant in fish/beef. In fact all complete proteins would have the essential amino acids.

I was wrong. bv of wheat is 54.
