Reflections
i realized several things that i had done wrong during the previous cycle that i shall pay attention to during my next one. the most primary problem that i believe stalled my progress was training as if i were a powerlifter rather than a bodybuilder. there was absolutely no reason for me to be doing so many 1-rep maxes, week after week. sure, i got much stronger - but honestly, i cannot care about that (to a great extent) for the endeavors i am pursuing. during the last 5 weeks, i have been training with a much higher number of reps, and shorter rests between sets - this has resulted in me continuing to make very good progress (according to the mirror, of course), even though i am now 3 weeks post-cycle.
worked out with 2 non-wbb members tonight at the gym - but belial, escape01, bennettboy, carolinagirl, and franjipanji were doing their own workouts at the same time. bennettboy is absurdly ripped (and tan - i am quite jealous of his tan). also a very nice guy. cgirl's hamstrings are still very hot. escape01 is going to kill me next week when i begin my 6-week cut and start using the elliptical machine. belial needs to learn how to put the weights down gently. get a spotter f*ckface. and franji was not wearing any panties tonight.

You still eat like a girl.

How many calories is that? Jesus, you have always eaten a lot.

6 week cut? Not too long, what do you hope to accomplish during that. Such as how much weight/bodyfat do you want to lose?

Narcissus
06-03-2003, 12:17 AM
p-man: that's hot.

rg570: that is because i am watching my girlish figure.

heath: not sure, but i know it is over ten thousand. and the short duration of the cut is just to test the waters - experimenting with carb cycling, macro ratios, clen/eca, lack of dairy, et cetera. i do not want to do any very aggressive cutting without the concurrent use of AAS, otherwise i will lose far too much muscle mass.

He's right, still eating like a girl... tuttut

Narcissus

i would hate to see the girl that consumes the same diet i do.

Heya Narc...good luck with the new journal mate!

You do a lot of sets ay....are u using AAS right now?

Narcissus
06-03-2003, 12:48 AM
rookie: i am thinking of getting him some little pink parachutes for his weights, so they do not smack the floor so hard.

ectx: i bet she's beautiful on the inside - and that's all that really matters, i guess (???). *calls INS on her*

tank: thanks. no, not on any AAS at the moment. i have been done with my first cycle for about 3 weeks now.

Tank23
06-03-2003, 12:56 AM
So are all of your sets stopped short of failure?

Narcissus
06-03-2003, 01:00 AM
tank: i go to failure on every set - and usually try to push through failure.

Tank23
06-03-2003, 01:09 AM
How do you find recovery with all those sets? I'm guessing your body likes the high volume....otherwise you wouldn't be doing it ay. I tell ya...you're really making those 10000 cals work for u ;)

...and eat something will ya? You're wasting away. :p

You planning on starting your cut in a couple weeks?

IceRgrrl

Mother of God...that's a $hitload of food. Impressive eating....

What I find even more impressive is the time/energy involved in planning/preparing/sitting down and eating that many meals. You're like a throwback to the hunter/gatherers..."okay, we finished this meal, but it's time to start rounding up and getting ready for the next one"....it's a full-time job! :)

Good title for a journal...something along the lines of "Belial's master" or "why alex is my bitch" would have also been acceptable.

You eat like a champ man, cutting will take some getting used to.

Rob, thin ice, buddy. We'll compare lifts later.

In the meantime....

*middle finger*

Matt... more power to you, this new style of training has been giving you more dramatic results over the last 3-4 weeks than the 6-8 prior... and given you're coming off, that's definitely saying something. The next cycle will yield SICK results.

tank: yeah, it seems to be working well for me. i only change my routine when i start to stagnate.

ghettosmurf: hopefully it will be as lively as its predecessor.

homeyield: yeah, still on basically the same split. cut starts on monday.

icergrrl: thanks. i love food, so it works out well. sorry that you did not get to make it to duke for that conference thingy.

franji: i did not even realize that craig left those until this afternoon. by that time, the sour cream dwelling on top of the chimichangas was quite spoiled.

borris: thanks. i think the cut will be quite interesting.

doc: appreciate the welcome.

bennett: thanks. hopefully you'll be able to make it up again sometime.

pagan: not sure about that. i'll definitely look into it though. i wouldn't think so, since they are combined in the same tablet, but who knows?

mason: thanks. now that it has been established that i am real, perhaps you will be able use your vast experience to give me some critiques on my workout style, etc.

rg: oh yeah.

scott: thanks. spam is always welcome.

pup: lol. and yes, the cut (the first ever) will definitely be quite a change from my normal diet.

belial: thanks. you know that your input is invaluable to me. always appreciate your help when you can give it.

LOL! Yeah, eating is one of my top 10 pasttimes as well...wha gets me though is the having to shop for it/prepare it/clean up afterwards. If I have to do that too much, I just get lazy and live off of shakes, cans, and things that I can eat raw :p

And I was disappointed about missing the conference down there, but I still might make it down that way yet this summer. I had a non-refundable ticket that I got a credit for and I'd love to come down and visit with y'all (you, HY, Franji, Alex, CG) and the rest of the NC WBB gang :) Once my summer classes are over, I have lots of little trips in the making...

HY: no, the gym monitors have stopped paying attention to my antics. i have had the police called on my 9 times in the last 2 years at the campus gym - i don't think they want to deal with it anymore.

john: 20-30 dollars a day is a good estimate.

heath: yes, i have a feeling that it will not be that cool.

icergrrl: go to costco, then you can have all your food for the week at your fingertips. then if you can just get on a schedule of cleaning up your dishes RIGHT after you eat, then it all works out fine - though that is truly the hardest part. and hopefully if you make it down, it will not be between june 26th and august 20th - i'll be back home basking in the ft. lauderdale sun :D :D :D

Bah, organic chemistry doesn't end until June 26, so I'm a slave to my brain until then.

And I'm with you on the warehouse shopping...that's the way to go. But that still leaves the preparing and tidying, though I manage to offload those tasks most of the time...

Yes, it's pretty hot here then. But don't worry, we all have A/C! And it's part of the experience of the South......that and grits. All newcomers to the South have to at least try grits. And complain about the heat. Just so they feel like they've really had the full experience. ;)

Ah, Demi, she's BEEN great, damn! Loving the long hair, too. I'd ****ing nail it any sec. And pup put it how it is. She still has it! (BTW, what the f*** is wrong with Mr. Willis?)

Meal 6 is strictly beautiful, again. That's enjoying life. But Narc, tell me, do you ever consume alcohol? I don't think I've seen it in your diet? Would pack a whole lot of extra cals, but of course there's the cons too when it comes to serious, dedicated training?

Suffice it to say that I also overlooked the fact that you are a 325 pound man drinking slim fast as well as eating tiny cups of fruit flavored yogurt after an earth-moving workout session.

Anyways, I went to Macaroni grill once and ordered some sort of mussels in a red sauce with some ****ing pasta. The mussels werent cleaned very well, there were lots of sand grains inside of them, as well as the sauce being EXTREMELY salty. I still ate the whole thing.

My girlfriend got the..like..chicken filthy wop special or something, I dont know, but it looked ****ty, too. Bitch didnt eat it all. Pshht.
Then she broke up with me.

I hate Macaroni Grill.

The bread was ****ing amazing though, that seasoned olive oil they give you is incredible, though it still reeks of greaseball daego culture.

Cut starts tomorrow morning at 8:30 AM! went to the grocery store earlier today to pick up these strange foods i'll be consuming. thanks very much to pup for walking me through carb cycling, and helping with arranging diets and such. also to belial and heatherer for lending advice. basically how each week will look is:

day 1: high carbs (40%protein/40%carb/20%fat)
day 2: high carbs (40%protein/40%carb/20%fat)

day 3: moderate carbs (40%protein/30%carb/30%fat)
day 4: moderate carbs (40%protein/30%carb/30%fat)

day 5: low carbs (40%protein/20%carb/40%fat)
day 6: low carbs (40%protein/20%carb/40%fat)

day 7: refeed type thing

wash, rinse, repeat.

i'll be getting in about 6500 calories on the high and moderate carb days, and about 5000 on the low carb days. next 7 weeks will be like this (tentatively - and xenadrine is the one WITH ephedra):

week 1: xenadrine

week 2: xenadrine/clenbuterol
week 3: xenadrine/clenbuterol

week 4: xenadrine
week 5: xenadrine

week 6: xenadrine/clenbuterol
week 7: xenadrine/clenbuterol

so we'll see how this goes...

Narcissus

Umm...I was flat broke and had no money so my friend gave me 45 pills for free...which was extremely nice. So since I had less than I wanted I went:

Days 1-8: 3,4,5,6,6,7,7,7

I had no crash at the end...I don't know how much you want to take, but when I take it again...whenever that is. I'll probably do the same type of build up, but get up to 7 pills by day 5 and stay there until about 4 days until I ran out and then taper down. Reason I didn't taper down is because I went on yohimbine hcl right after and figure I wouldn't need to taper, which I didn't.

budiak, webb: cops were called (10th time total, 8th time i have been escorted out) because i dropped the 110s on my last set of dumbbell presses to avoid snapping my wrists and/or shoulder girdle. previous times were generally for my "bad attitude", "bad temper", and "threatening behavior", whatever that means.

I'm not sure why you are cutting carbs in the evening, if at all? It looks like you are getting somewhere around 600 grams of protein, which could be cut quite a bit and replaced with carbs. You probably wouldn't feel such an effect on your mood that way. I'm sure you could "get by" with 350 grams of protein or so.

Scott S
06-11-2003, 06:45 PM
Don't tell me you drink that 1/2cup of pancake mix... ?

I doubt that it's the action of the carbs that's causing the irritability, because you really have to cut them to start feeling bad. (I'd almost call 41% a high-carb diet.) With the milk you drink at all times of the day, it's safe to say you are probably never carb-depleted.

No, to my knowledge the bi-angular row is the two-handled independant motion hammer stength row machine, with a chest support. But dont tell Belial I know what it is.

Carbs are cut at night to decrease the likelihood of them being stored as fat during sleep instead of used as energy during the day...like they should be!

its not really the carbs fault though, its the calories in the carbs

...i suppose it is just distressing to me because soon enough, i shall be under 300 pounds - and lumped in with the hordes of bodybuilders/gymrats/etc who are in the "over 200" category. it is difficult to articulate how it feels to be doing such an intense cut after 3 years of bulking. and compounding that with my realization that i need to add an additional 20-30 pounds of muscle to be at the level i wish to be it is, quite simply, overwhelming.

on the positive side, however, i believe that the diet/cardio/water-retention-loss/weight-loss has given me some beneficial effects in terms of alleviating my terrible tendonitis. i am finally able to perform a balls-to-the-wall leg workout twice a week (first time focusing primarily on quads, second time focusing primarily on hams). my strength is increasing, my aerobic capacity is increasing, and my muscle is supposedly increasing, all while performing my first cut AND it being done post-cycle. that inspires me.

nonetheless, there is quite a ways to go. right now, according to the dunk, i could be between 260-270 at 10% - not good. i need 20-30 more pounds of solid, unadulterated, hard-earned skeletal muscle. if i could distribute it how i would like, i would put 15-20 on my legs and 10-15 on my upper body. oh well. i think this will be attainable by about christmas time for me - that is the plan at least.

i just have to keep my eye on the prize.

You will never be lumped in with any type of horde. There can be only one. ;)

I thought you'd have a hard time with giving up some of your size. It seems like it's actually been somewhat less awful than I was expecting. (After all, nobody's actually been bitch-slapped yet.) And you really are looking great, Matt. It's also fantastic that you're finally able to really work your legs without the kind of pain you were having - your legs are the only part of you that wasn't already big enough to count as big and scary. ;) (Those teardrops were looking pretty damn good the other day, btw.)

i just have to keep my eye on the prize.

so i am finally back in ft. lauderdale. thank god. i think death would have certainly been on the horizon for someone if i had to stay in durham much longer.

my new gym is quite nice. alot of serious lifters there. unfortunately the lighting is terrible. they have these pink and green neon lights running over all the mirrors. weird.

diet is coming along fine. i decided this week to switch to 2 high carb days, 1 moderate carb day, and 3 low carb days - then refeed. next week i am going to drop my calories to 6000/5000/4500 (high/mod/low). we'll see how that goes.

i got a meeting with darrem charles' trainer tomorrow, to go over posing and other things. hopefully he'll have some good info for me.

9 weeks out, eh? so how is the tan coming along? are you doing any cardio (besides your muay thai) right now?

at the moment i am doing cardio 2-3 times per week, on the elliptical machine for 35-40 minutes, with a heartrate of 150 bpm.

after speaking with borris and alex (and awaiting word from pup), i have decided to do a ckd diet for the last 2 weeks of the cut - so i shall begin that next week. we'll see how it goes.

Meal 1: Fritata (crustless quiche) made w/ 4 jumbo eggs, 1 oz extra sharp cheddar cheese, 1 oz mozzarella cheese, 5 pan-fried bacon slices, 1 teaspoon diced green onions, 1 teaspoon diced jalapeno peppers, 1 teaspoon butter

Meal 2: 10 oz (after cooking) fried buffallo wings (no breading/batter), 10 FOC

Meal 3: 8 oz ground beef (before cooking), ½ packet Old El Paso taco seasoning, 1 oz jalapeno monterey jack cheese, 10 FOC

Meal 4: 8 oz tiger shrimp (before cooking), 2 teaspoons garlic extra virgin olive oil, 1 tbsp caribbean remoulade sauce, 10 FOC, 1 string cheese

Meal 5: 6 oz (after cooking) fried buffalo wings (no breading/batter), 10 FOC, 1 string cheese

Meal 6: 8 oz ground beef (before cooking), ½ packet Old El Paso taco seasoning, 1 oz jalapeno monterey jack cheese, 10 FOC

scott: well, not yet. i just began growing it about 3 days ago, but the problem is that my mustache does not connect to the goatie, so i have about a ¼-½ inch of hairless space. hmm, maybe i'll get some of that ron popeil spray-on hair and make myself a stencil

That's actually really common. If you do it right, you can grow out the ends of your mustache a little extra to cover up the gap. Frequent trimming will make the goatee gradually look fuller and more consistent.

And re: CKD. I loved it when I did mine. I have no idea why some people hate it. I could eat meat and eggs and cheese for the rest of my life. That said, I understand now how it's not the best for making gains.

You go to school with the guy correct? He just doesn't like posting anymore? No time?

thanks for the concern - i'm around, but with school having started back, overloading my course schedule, hitting two workouts a day, and working at a new club, i have been quite busy.

training is going well though. i am about to begin dieting again next sunday, carb cycling again, probably 5k cal on the high carb days, 4k on the mod, and the 3k on the low. this time i am going to diet pretty far down, into the 8-12% range, adjusting my calories as the fat loss stifles.

not sure what my BF is at the moment, but i do have visible vascularity on my quads. i have maybe 3 veins that run longitudinally across my left teardrop, 2 on my right teardrop, and a rather large one that bisects my leg at a diagonal in line with the inside of my teardrop. so that's cool. besides the small amount of fat that runs the entire length of my body, the primary stores that are left are on my lower abs (right below my bellybutton and above my waistline) and the outside of my chest.

not sure what else, but i'll try to check a little more regularly.

edit: i am about 285-290ish right now

Neat. Welcome back!

Kickass! I look forward to readin your posts again. How are you splitting the routine up for two a days?

I would have thought with that kind of vascularity, that you would have been close to your target now of 10%-12%. I must be a lot fatter then I thought or you just have ****ing huge veins. ;)

Too bad about the overloaded schedule, however glad to see that things are still going well for you.

Are you thinking about competing at some level at the end of this cut, or bulking again immediately?

so i figured i would update this a little bit, now that i have finally weighed myself again and begun a new diet.

on sunday, after 1 meal, i weighed 290.5 lbs.

i will be carbohydrate & calorie cycling again. this is the breakdown for my high carb day:

my moderate carb day:

...and my low carb day:

here is my current workout split:

monday:
morning: 40 min on elliptical, 150 bpm heartrate
evening: chest, triceps, anterior delts, calves

tuesday:
evening: back, traps, medial/rear delts, biceps, abs

wednesday:
morning: 40 min on elliptical, 150 bpm heartrate
evening: quads, hams, calves

thursday:
evening: delts, traps, chest

friday:
morning: 40 min on elliptical, 150 bpm heartrate
evening: biceps, triceps, abs

saturday:
morning: 40 min on elliptical, 150 bpm heartrate
evening: hams, quads, traps, calves

the item in bold is the focus of the workout - the subsequent muscle groups get 1 exercise each (except abs, which receives 2 exercises). the weightlifting portion lasts approximately 1.5 hours.

Is this a cut type diet, I'm guessing from all the cardio and low calories, or maintenance?

Do cycle through each of those diets one right after the other or are you doing more low carb days than high or what?

Split looks good and looks like those traps are taking a pounding.

Narcissus
10-08-2003, 12:41 PM
will: indeed this will be a cutting diet again. i am going to diet down to about 10-12% this time. the layout for the diet everyweek is 2 high carb days, 2 mod carb days, 2 low carb days, then refeed. after a few weeks, i will probably switch to 2high/1mod/3low, as that seemed to work better for me during my last diet.
and yes, i am trying to dedicate a lot of work to increasing the thickness in my traps, as this is one of my weakpoints. on tuesday, i do barbell shrugs. thursday is standing dumbbell shrugs, and saturday is sitting, bent-over dumbell shrugs. seems to be working pretty well thus far.

you should definitely take some good 'before' pics in standard poses if you're gonna diet down to 10%.

10% with your mass will look amazing... looking forward to reading about your progress, dude.

Quad veins? You sexy bitch.

I missed you.

(And.....I don't think that anything on your traps is a weak point. )

BCC

I concur. From what I've seen of you, I'd say there's nothing weak about your traps.

I second the request for before and after pics.

And that routine looks nutty. How much assistance are you getting right now?

BCC
10-08-2003, 02:28 PM
I don't think there's anything wrong with that routine; assisted or not. As long as one's limits are known, it's not overtraining. The bold lettering clearly distinguishes heavy and light priorities. It's actually a very, very similar routine to the one I followed when I trained unassisted with Luke. I knew my limits, so I changed sets and reps accordingly to accommodate the frequency.

I just said nutty, as in its a lot of volume. I agree that someone like Narc could handle it, assisted or unassisted.

I asked how much hes on cause I'm curious and like to live vicariously through others.

So... are you gonna compete at the end of this, or wait until you're completely "complete?"

Narcissus
10-08-2003, 06:48 PM
cal: not sure about the before pics - i still look like too much of a bltch.

cgirl: thanks - and yes, they're a weak point, trust me. one day they'll look like the attached picture though.

bcc: i am sure you understand much better than most, they are certainly weak. see the attached picture, that's the look i'm going for :) and your explanation is right on point.

fuzz: not sure about the before pics, but i certainly hope to be satisfied enough to take after pics. regarding the assistance, right now i am getting 10mL/week of help - you all should play the guessing game to determine the sources of the 10mLs.

nevermore: thanks, although i have to admit that my current diet certainly pales in comparison and interest-arousal to my 10-12k calorie a day bulking diet.

scott: the competition i am preparing for is the Southern States, held in Ft. Lauderdale in the beginning of August 2004. i am working towards competing at 265-270, 3%ish bodyfat. i'll be working very closely with the same guy who trains darrem charles.

Coolness. God, that guy's hamstrings are RIDICULOUS!

How do your workouts look? I'd be curious to see all the exercises you'll be doing for that 1.5 hours at a time.

scott: any day in particular you are interested in? don't really feel like writing every day's, that would be a bit much.

They'er not, damn! I'm sure Matt just needs to cut a bit more.

Welcome back man. Look forward to seeing your progress.

Narcissus

behemoth: yeah, i'd like to be there, but i'll stick with 6'0, don't want two more inches in height. and yes, it's much bigger than certain pros, but hey, you gotta set standards for yourself.

xand: thanks - i'm hoping to see it too.
