View Full Version : How much cardio on off days?

I'm currently cutting and just started WBB routine 1. How much cardio should I do on off days? I try to do at least an hour of running or biking or a combo. I'd like to do more, so I can burn the fat quicker. I'm basically down to one layer of fat right around my waist and a little on my chest.

Typically, I'll run 6-7 miles in an hour on an off day. And 20-30 mins of HIIT on work days.

Too much? Not enough? I'm pretty happy with my muscle gain thus far, and would really like to concentrate on cutting the fat. Getting about 130-160g of protein and 120-150g carbs a day (165lbs).

sounds like a LOT of running.

why not try doing the HIIT on rest days, and no cardio on lifting days?

Well, I like to run. And still trying to lose about 15 lbs, so I'd rather sacrifice some gains now while I cut the excess fat. Does this make sense?

Mixing HIIT with runs between 60 & 90 minutes is ideal for fat burning and weight loss, not to mention it will put you in better shape.

So when should I do the HIIT? On work days or off days?

if you're going to run (HIIT or not) on lifting days, I would try to separate the running from the lifting by at least 5 hours or so

OK, that's fair enough. I'll just start running in the morning instead of right after my lift.
