Do you prefer to have your feet close together and arms over shoulder width apart or feet REAL wide and hands close together?????

Conventional! It feels more "natural" to me.

I luv Deadlift. Favorite exercise.

I like conventional for reps. But when I'm working real heavy I prefer to take it somewhat wider. Not quite as wide as most people sumo, but wider than conventional for sure.

Both.

I am stronger at a wide sumo though, so that is my meet stance.

A very wide sumo. (feet almost touching the plates)

Sumo is much stronger by about 20 pounds.

I'm a fair bit stronger with conventional, but I prefer sumo as I have relatively long legs and it's impossible for me to do a full ROM with a conventional stance without my lower back rounding.

I tend to use deadlifts primarily as a leg exercise as well, and feel a great more leg-involvement with a sumo stance when I go down to parallel (basically mirroring the ROM of a squat)

I'm about equally as strong on both. I used to prefer sumo, but lately I've been doing everything with a close stance...

I've only started trying deadlifts today, and i've only tried sumo style (I was advised to do this on account of my long legs), and I really enjoyed it. It seems very comfortable

I only dead conventional. If some people use a really wide stance for Sumo, they may be lifting heavier weights just because it's a shorter lift. With your legs spread way apart, you're standing with a shorter stance and not lifting the weight as far. I don't really know the technicalities of the differences, that's just my hypothesis.

Well, but that's pretty obvious isn't it?

To me the real advantage is being able to use a more upright position, it justs feels more natural.

If sumo is so much easier to lift heavier weights with, then why do some people that compete still use conventional?

Sumo --> Shorter lift but weaker mucles for most people.

So if your body is built for sumo you get an advantage over someone who is built for conventional.
