Should I stop drinking my protein shake once a day? Designer Whey. 17.5 grams/protein a serving and a crapload of vitamins.

id say you only have it post workout cuz of the high GI.. but its only a small diff

I usually just use a shake postworkout, but there is nothing wrong with using it at other times during the day. I would just mix it with some type of carb or fat source to prevent the whey protein from being converted to glucose. Also adding carbs like oats or a solid fat source like natural pb would slow the digestion of the whey, or you could just mix it with milk if you are using it at other times besides postworkout.

If you can get the protein from whole food sources that would more than likely help with appetite control.

Whey protein is not high on the glycemic index.
